31 Taking Over

The next morning, I took the waiter as promised to the place where I had kept the bodies of the said shadow demons. Not wanting her to see their faces, I stopped her from removing the masks for the reason that she'll get poisoned if she touches them. Luckily, she agreed and didn't go further.

Just like we agreed on, she took an excuse from the inn and then we went to the house belonging to the town's head.

Upon arrival, I noticed that there were some men and women gathered at the hall we were taken to. It happened that they were in a meeting concerning the very shadow demons I've dealt with. I traced my eyes to the man sitting at the head table, 'I thought they said he is a hunter?' Was the first Question that crossed my mind as I stared at the ugly fat man with a dirty beard. To think that someone like him would be chosen as a town head was something I didn't quite understand. Because who in his/her right senses would pick him to govern the town?
