2 Chapter 2: Ultimate Skill and First Kill

I blink for a few seconds and look around me. I can see many people, players or NPC, walking around the city. I can see some of the players shouting about selling an item while the others shouting about searching for a player for a dungeon.

[Nine Worlds] is an open-world game where monsters roam the world. You can hunt the monster in the open world, but there will be a chance of you getting something called Kill-Steal. Kill-Steal is an action where a player kills a monster that is about to die and steals all the loot from defeating that monster.

Hunting in the open world is easier and faster, but if you do not want to kill-steal your prey, you can get into a [Dungeon]. [Dungeon] is a pocket dimension where you can hunt for monsters without others getting in your way and stealing your prey.

However, all monsters in the [Dungeon] are slightly more powerful, and if you die in the dungeon (without anyone resurrecting you), the punishment will be harsher than when you die in the open world.

Not only that, there is a limit to how many times you can get inside the [Dungeon]. The low-level [Dungeon] usually lets you enter it thrice a day. Some special [Dungeon] can only be entered once a day or even once every seven days.

However, if you can beat the dungeon boss, you will get quite good loot for the trouble. Not only that but if you manage to beat the boss, you will also teleport to the safe zone where the player cannot kill you and get your items.

Speaking of killing players, [Nine Worlds] PK-system (Player-Killing System) will randomly drop three items the player equipped once they die. If the player is quick enough, they can put away their gear into inventory and save their gear.

A good PK player will use ambush and a high-burst skill to kill the enemy with one hit or kill them fast enough before they can take off their gear.

This became a positive and negative thing. The positive one is that PKer usually did not target tanky players. A tank player will almost never get PKed by other players because they will always save their gear before dying. If you are a glass-cannon player? You can buy cosmetics from the [Cash Shop] and fool a PKer into thinking that you are a tank player instead of a glass-cannon.

I shake my head and focus on the problem I have. I open my character sheet and open my skill section.

I can see three skills in front of me.

Yup. They are still there.

I take a deep breath and press them one by one.

=||=

|Gaia's Blessing| |Passive| |EX-Rank|

{Gaia, the Goddess of Nature, has blessed you! You can feel her warm embrace around you, and nature tries to please you.}

[Effect: 100% Loot Rate]

~~~
|Enki's Heir| |Passive| |SSS-Rank|
{Enki, the forgotten God of Craft, gives you the last bit of his soul, making you his heir. Prove the world that you are worthy of this honor!}
[Effect: 100% Enchanting and Craft Rate]
~~~

|Midas Touch| |Passive| |S-Rank|

{The curse of Midas has turned into a blessing! While you cannot turn anything into gold, you will still get gold easily!}

[Effect: 3x Gold Drop]

=||=

What kind of broken skills are those?! I don't know the first one, but the last two are already broken enough. I already see how enchanting and crafting work. Even the player specializing in crafting never gets a one hundred percent success rate in enchanting.

Items are divided into the eighth rank. The list goes like this: [Low-Level Items], [Mid-Level Items], [High-Level Items], [Peak-Level Items], [Mythical Items], [Legendary Items], [Divine Items], and [Conceptional Items].

Each rank is also divided into four: [Common], [Uncommon], [Rare], and [Epic].

Each rank also has a level limitation except for the last four ranks. A level one player can use the last four ranks. However, that kind of item is so rare that it can cost you at least one hundred thousand USD per item, which was usually the weakest item as a large guild uses the more powerful item.

I take out my Beginner Magical Staff and look at it. A second later, a panel appeared in front of me.

=||=

|Beginner Magical Staff| |Common| |Low-Level|

[Attack: 1.5 * INT]

{Effect: None}

=||=

Anyway, even a Max Level crafter will only get a 99% chance of success in enchanting a common and low-level item. They will never get a one hundred percent chance of success. With this skill, I can enchant a weapon and armor to the maximum as long as I have enough resources.

A high enchantment weapon can give me a lot of money.

Speaking of money, Midas Touch! Three times the amount of gold rate?! With that alone, I can become one of the richest players in the entire game!

I don't know about the first skill because drops will always appear once you kill a monster or a player. That is why I don't understand what a 100% drop rate means.

I shake my head and decide to put it away for now. I will know it when I start my hunt. For now, there is something I need to do. I look at the massive building in the middle of the city and start to walk.

After walking for a moment, I arrived in front of the massive building. This is where a newbie awakens their class. Before they go out of the beginner town, they need to awaken their class first.

And this is the place to awaken them. I walk to the receptionist and smile.

"Good day to you."

"Good day to you, sir."

The woman behind the desk smiles back.

"Want to awaken your talent?"

"Yes, please."

"Of course. That will be one silver coin, please."

Right. I remember reading this. This game has three coin types: Gold, Silver, and Copper. One gold coin equals a hundred silver coins, and one silver coin equals a hundred copper coins.

In the real world, silver was not worth much. The gold coin, on the other hand, is worth quite a lot. A gold coin is worth a dollar.

I will gather money using [Midas Touch] and sell them for a quick buck.

I shake my head and place one silver coin on the table. As a new player, you will be given two silver coins, one for awakening and the other to buy a potion to help your hunt.

I snap from my thoughts when the receptionist comes back with a crystal ball.

"Please place your hand on the ball."

I nod and place my right hand on the ball. A few seconds later, two panels appeared in front of me.

=||=

|Fireball| |Active| |F-Rank|

{A searing hot ball of fire fly to the target and have a chance of burning the target}

[Attack: 2.5 * INT]

~~~
|Ice Spear| |Active| |F-Rank|
{Three ice spears fly out of your hand and pierce the enemy. The ice spears will slow the movement of the enemy a little bit.}
[Attack: 1 * INT per ice spear]
=||=
"Congratulations, sir. You are now an awakened person. You can go to the adventure guild if you want a quick job or help the people in the city."
"Thank you."
"No problem!"
I wave at the receptionist and walk out of the building. Now… What should I do? Hmmm, I think I will hunt a monster. From the forum I read, the western part of the beginner city is not too crowded, as the monster in that area did not drop anything good.
I nod and walk to the beginner city's western gate. While walking, I open my stats.
=||=
Name: Freyvadour
Race: Human
Level: 1
Class: Mage (1)
~~~

HP: 100

MP: 100

~~~
STR: 10
VIT: 10
DEX: 10
INT: 10
WIS: 10
~~~

Stats Point: 0

=||=

Starting stats for humans is ten across the board. Every time I level up, I get stats, and each class has a different focus. As a mage, I will get +3 to INT and WIS each level up. Not only that, but I also get three Stats Points every level up that I can spend on any stats I want to increase.

Other than my stats, I can spend my level in my class every time I level up. A basic class has a max level of fifteen, a higher class has a max level of ten, and an ultimate and special class has a max level of five.

The current level cap is two hundred, but there is a rumor that the dev will increase the max level.

Anyway, classes are important because all your skills come from your classes. The previous skill and spell will disappear if you decide to replace your basic classes. The new set of spells and skills will replace them.

Many people will replace their basic class with something new in the next city. I already know which basic classes are the most sought-after in this game. Many [Fighter] players will change into [Swordmaster], [Rogue] players will change into [Hunter], and [Mage] players change into [Necromancer].

There are a lot of forums dedicated to how to build those three classes. Building those classes takes a long time and money, but the result is something I admire. All of them are great DPS at any party.

As for me? I will not change my class because I already created a plan. This plan works for me, who likes to play solo.

I snap from my thoughts when I see that I've arrived at the western gate. After greeting the guards, I walk to the field filled with rabbits. What makes them different from normal rabbits is their head. I can see a horn on its head.

They are called [Horned Rabbit], a level one monster. They are fast, but they did not have much HP, perfect for a mage like me. I slowly walk near the rabbit and extend my hand, and say.

"Ice Spear!"

Three long spears come out of my hand and impale the rabbit. To my surprise, it did not die from a single attack, but I can see its HP is less than half. I quickly point to my staff and say.

"Fire Ball"

With its movement reduced, my fireball hit the rabbit, and I could see its HP down to zero. I smile a little and open my inventory. I widen my eyes when I see seven items appear in my inventory.

This is…

I quickly open a browser and search for [Horned Rabbit] drop. I read them all and compared them to the items in my inventory.

"Holy shit. I get all the drops from a monster, even the rare one!"

*Edited. Added DEX to stats.
