1 Chapter 1: Character Creation

I wipe the sweat out of my forehead and leave the room.

When I reincarnated into this world, I thought that I would get anything I wanted, but in the end, I still needed to work hard to get what I wanted.

I'm reincarnated into the world of the future. Not really like a Sci-Fi type of world but still a futuristic type of world.

What makes this world futuristic is the game industry. Unlike the Earth, many people think games are the right thing to move them forward. VR has become the thing of this world. However, unlike the VR in my previous world, this VR sent our consciousness into the Virtual World where we can feel, smell, and do anything we want inside the Virtual World.

I was born into a low-income family when I arrived in this world. I need to work a side job to go to college and need to save my money to buy the Nerve-Pod, the machine that lets me go to the Virtual World.

I have a dozen games for my Nerve-Pod, and I finally have enough money to buy the newest and hottest game on the planet. The game is called [Nine Worlds], for it has nine worlds where they can explore as much as they want.

This game is a fantasy-type of game where magic exists and whatnot. You can choose from more than a hundred classes, making this game flexible in its fighting style. Do you want to be a wizard that can punch really hard? Sure. Do you want to be a healer that can sneak around? An odd combination, but go ahead.

Because of this almost limitless way of playing, many players spend their time in this game. It also helps that this is not a Pay-to-Win kind of game. It is a pure skill and stubborn type of game. As long as you are good at games? You can at least reach the top ten in overall rank. As long as you are stubborn and never give up, you can reach a high-ranking player who can earn a lot of money.

Speaking of money, because of how popular this game is, a market that lets players sell their items and in-game money for real money appears.

I want to use this game to make my life easier. Working as an office zombie the second time is not good for me. I already typed my resignation letter and only need to give it to my manager. I want a leap of faith and push them all into gaming.

That sounds stupid, but I'm tired of an office job. I want a job that I enjoy. I have my savings in case I start slow and am ready to return to my typical job if this does not work. I made a rule that I would return to the normal and boring office job if I did not have a steady income in a year.

I snap from my thoughts when I see I've arrived in front of my house. I release a sigh as I open the door and walk to my room. I put away my clothes, take a bath, and get inside the Nerve-Pod. When I close the door, my vision changes. I can see the UI of my Nerve-Pod and quickly go to my games store.

I search for [Nine Worlds] and quickly buy the games. I smile a little when I see the game instantly downloaded. The internet of this world is a thousand, maybe ten thousand times faster than my previous world.

I press the play button, and suddenly I appear above the cloud. I look around for a few seconds before my eyes land on the beautiful woman floating not too far away from me. I fly toward her, and when I get close, I hear her voice.

"Welcome to Nine Worlds, player. Please tell me your name."

I think for a few seconds and say.

"Freyvadour"

The woman nods and says.

"The nickname can be used. Welcome Freyvadour. Do you want to use your real face or create a character?"

"Create a character."

I'm quite a bit handsome if I say so myself. However, I know that putting my face in a game is not a good idea. I would rather have privacy, thank you very much.

After saying that, an entire panel appears in front of me. I can see a generic-looking man in my [Stats] window. I have already prepared for my character.

I continue to modify my character, and I'm done after a few minutes. My character has short dark blue hair and light blue eyes. He is wearing a white suit with matching white pants. I also add a monocle to my character.

I choose my race as Human, I know, boring. However, humans did not have any negative reputation against any race. I can go anywhere I want without an NPC attacking me because of my race. It did not give me a special skill or anything, but it did give me a small boost in all my stats.

The Human Race in this game is a Jack of All Trade, Master of None.

I'm not a ranker where I need to reach the top hundred or something. I want a steady hunt where I can sell my items to get real-life money. I will enjoy the game but not play it twenty hours a day like some people.

I want to be a gamer where I enjoy playing and not destroying my body. I want this as a job I enjoy, and playing twenty hours a day is the same as my office job.

After completing my character creation, I press the done button.

"Please choose your starter class."

After the woman says that, I see three golden pillars appear in front of me. The first one has a symbol of a sword and shield in the middle of the pillar. The second one is a pair of daggers. The last one is a magic staff. They are Fighter, Rogue, and Mage.

In [Nine Worlds], you will be given a starter class to make your life easier. After you reach a certain level or you have a unique quest, you can switch your basic class with any class you want. You can also keep the starter class and expand it from there, but not many people do that.

I walk toward the last pillar and touch it. A second later, the golden pillar gets inside my body, and I can see a notification in the corner of my vision.

"Congratulations on becoming a mage, Freyvadour. Before you go and explore the world, the world will bless you!"

Right. World Blessing is not some kind of luck-based gift. It will give you one skill from the rank of [F] to [E]. Skill has a rank. The lowest will be [F-rank], and the four highest will be: [S-rank], [SS-rank], [SSS-rank], and [EX-rank].

All the skills are mostly passive, and the lucky one will have an active skill.

"Error!"

I blink for a second when I hear the woman shout.

"It looks like you own the older version of Nerve-Pod! Optimizing!"

I wait for a few seconds before a panel appears in front of me.

What? What kind of skills are these?!

"Congratulations on receiving your blessing! Please be careful in this world and, most importantly, have fun!"

Before I can even ask, my vision turns white, and the next thing I know, I'm in the middle of a city.
