Chapter 3

(Veronica's POV)

So no I have to say. I have mever been in such an awkward position before. I have fallen face frist like a baby on top of another man and not jut a normal man. The Alpha of the graymond pack. Feared by most wolves. The devil's right hand man himslef and I'm wondering if I should start doing my prayers right now or think of what I do when I get up.

Do I let them take me just like that? Or I run for my precious life. This is definitely not how I wished I would die so I will most definately run for my life and that is if I'll be able tp mobe an inch after this. I'm so dead.

In no time the guards who were just after me burst out of the door almost knocking it down.I pick myself up and look at my brused knee and let out a wince and the cold air bloss over it. It will heal soon, so what now. What do I do?

"Are you okay?" He asks me and the moment my voice reaches my ears a cold chill runs down my spine. His voice is horsey and deep at the same tume and as if some one laced it with honey. Why is it so damn sexy when he's the most dangerous thing I don't want near me.

"Ummh yeah.Yes." I first look down the I look up when this girl next to him speaks. Who huffs before looking at him.

"Babe are you okay ?" She dusts his back and gives me a dirty look. "Who do you think you are you make my man fall. Do you have an idea of who he is and what you have just done right now." He spits. So I caught this in the air. So this must be his girlfriend.

"Babe, it's okay. Trust me." He tells her and she just huffs, rolls her eyes and leaves to get inside the house.

"Is everything okay in..." He asks his men and in that moment I decide to make a run for it.

"Alpha that's her. She's running off ." One man yells. I knew they would be on my little anytime soon so I ran for my life. I ran through the bushes and I wished I could just stop and take in the smell of the dense forest but there was no time.

I could feel it in me that they would be catching up with me sooner than I thought. I looked back and continued running. My lungs were burning but I still ran. If only I had my wolf right now even though I couldn't shift but I would still have healed my wounds faster. With one foolish look at the back I lost concentration of where I was going and hit hard on a human wall. I went down for the floor but I didn't land because the Alpha himself caught me. I let out a relieved sigh. That was close. Too close.

I was all sweaty while he on the other side looked like he had not ran at all. His cologne hit my nostrils and boy I wonder why my legs weren't melted right now. His face wasn't as soft as if was a few moments ago but damn he was one of a kind. I didn't know that men who looked like ancient greek gods existed.

I have to say that none the things or rumours I have heard about him were a lie, on the looks tp be specific. He is one to die for. He was a drop dead gorgeous man. Who in the world would not fall for this. But looks didn't count for anything. That didn't change who he trully was.

"Are you done." I heard his deep voice ask and my eyes instantly shot up to meet his midnight blue ones. My cheeks instantly heated up.

" Doing what?"

"Oh right." He chuckled and looked at me. "So we're playing dump?" He rolled his eyes." I mean cheking me out."

" I don't know what you're talking about.' I said and looked the other side of him and there were no men. If only the could be a way I could distract him and run.

"Don't even think about it." And the next thing he did got me dragging my jaw in the floor. He bent down, picked me up and placed me on his shoulder while he went back where we came from.

"Let me go I didn't do anything please listen to me." I tried kicking and screaming but it was of no use. I was surprised that he was the only one who came after me and matter of fact he hadn't even shifted in order to catch me.

"You call taking life, doing nothing?" He growled.

"No I didn't mean to say it that way but I..." I couldn't finish my sentence when I landed on the ground with a lot of men surrounding me. "You have to believe me." My voice trembles and I feel liek theres a lump stuck in my throat.

"I'll believe what one of my people saw." He slid both his hand into the front pockets of his jeans. My eyes began being teary but I blinked the tears in. I was stronger than this. I was taught not to show weakness to my enemy and I would give him the satisfaction of scaring the heck out of me right now. I'm sure my parents and brother were looking for me right now. They will find me.

"Please." I looked at him in the eyes yet he just turned on me to speak to one of his men. The one who had been guarding me to be specific. I hugged my legs closer to my chest and let out a heavy breath. If I were to die right now I would do that bravely and I know that I'm inoccent but it's just that no one trusts me. I don't expect him out of all people to do that.

He turned and looked at me right now. There was no pitty in his eyes. Why would there be any? He's ruthless they say and now that I've seen him. I guess I can say that he pretty much is.

"She dies at dawn." He says addressing his men. My breath hitched when I heard that. Now that it was certain I would at least have these hours left before tomorrow, to council myself and be ready for death.

"Only the goddess knows what I have done to deserve this." I gave him a fierce look.

"You'd should have asked her that about my Beta before mercilessly ripping his throat. I still can't believe you would do that. I thought you knew the rule. We don't kill one of our own. But I wouldn't trust anyone."

"I don't think you understand it too well either cause you're about to do that to me."

"You deserve it." He spat.

"I'm not surprised to hear that from you? You have no heart that's why you wouldn't even give me a chance and hear me out."

He gives me a dirty look and looks one of his men "Knock her out."

"I thought you said tomorrow?"My heart almost bursts out of my chest when I hear that.

"Don't worry we're not just going to let you die easily. We want to make an example to anyone thinking to mess with my people out there and it's a pitty that you have to be an example. I thought you invited me there for peace when all you people waited to do was back stab me.

"If you kill me they'll...." and before I could finish talking one man holds me while another shoves a cloth in my face. The strong smell of chloroform fills my nostrils.

I vision becomes blurry and eyelids become heavy and in a few seconds I let the darkness consume me and fall safely into the men's arms.
