You are my Anchor

Because of you I have found the definition, the anchor and the direction of my life

Finally day of the launch was here. It was time to show what the months of hard work had birthed and Jimin was at the centre of it. He was nervous, excited and all things in between. But, the one thing he wanted was to finally be done with it all. While it had been exciting, fulfilling and gave him a sense of fulfilment, it was exhausting – both emotionally and physically. He could use the break.

Jungkook couldn't wait to have his boyfriend's one hundred percent attention. With a lot going on in both their lives, they hadn't had much time to spend together and he was feeling a little neglected.

“Three more hours to go,” Jimin murmured to himself as he sat at his desk going over the material. He had been at the event hall and he was satisfied with the setup. He had gone over the guest list with the event team and discussed the seating arrangements for all the guests invited. Everything was done and double checked except his speech.

He did not feel confident with his speech and as a result his nerves were all over the place. Even though dealing with large groups was a large part of his job, speaking in front of large crowds wasn’t something he looked forward to. There was also the fact that he was a newbie in this position and though his superiors had heard good things, he couldn't help but get all jittery. He would be speaking in front of the bog shots in the company. His speech would be what would sell the product and also prove that he was worthy of the position.

He couldn’t focus. He took a sip of his water and stared at the sandwich before him. With butterflies in his stomach and his head buzzing with bits and pieces of his speech, there was no way on earth he'd swallow a bite. His hand twitched involuntarily and he pinched the bridge of his nose trying to calm his frayed nerves. “Breathe in, breathe out!” he whispered as he breathed along. It wasn’t working.

Without much thought he found himself on his way to the one and only thing that centred him, Jungkook. He needed him. He needed his hug and warmth enveloping him. He needed his words of assurance – to hear him say it would go alright. He needed his scent – it always found its way into his muddled brain and anchored him. He needed… he just needed him.

He quickly pulled out his phone and texted him asking him to meet at their secret spot. He paced and wiped his clammy hands on his pants as he waited. Jungkook walked in to find a very nervous Jimin squatting and hugging his knees with his head buried between them.

"Hey babe, you alright?" He asked as he knelt before him. Jimin lifted his head to look into the warm eyes of his boyfriend. Jungkook reached out and brushed a stray hair out of his face, tucking it behind Jimin’s ear. He reached out for his hands and he could feel him shake with nervousness. They were cold too.

"I am all nerves today,” Jimin said with a nervous chuckle. “I can't seem to rein in my emotions. My hands won't stop shaking," he said helplessly.

"Come here you," Jungkook said pulling him up into a hug. He placed his head on his chest and Jimin breathed in the unique scent that was his. He could feel himself calm down.

"You have prepared for this for a long time. I, of all the people know how much energy and hard work has gone into this. I am absolutely positive you will do well," Jungkook said. As his voice reverberated through his chest, matched with his heartbeat, it calmed Jimin down. Jungkook didn't know this but whenever Jimin was stressed out, he always sought him out and laid his head on his chest and listened to him speak.

"You think so?" Jimin asked like a child needing his parent’s reassurance.

"I know so!" Junkook assured him. And for a few more minutes in silence, they stood there in each other’s arms relishing the comfort they gave each other.

"Baby? What's that?" Jimin finally asked pointing at a huge purple gift box complete with a lavender bow on top placed in the corner.

"Oh that?” Junkook asked and he untangled himself from Jimin’s embrace. “It's just a small gift from Tae and I. We thought you could use it on this big day," he said with excitement as he carried it over to Jimin.

"That isn't small at all," Jimin exclaimed but he could not keep the excitement out of his voice.

"Well, the packaging is a little bit extravagant. But here… go ahead, open it," he said handing it to him.

"Well... What is it?" Jimin asked.

"Well... you've got to open it to find out," Jungkook tutsed him and encouraged him to open it.

Jimin gasped when he lifted the lid off the box. "Oh my God! This is gorgeous!" he exclaimed and ran his slender fingers over the soft fabric.

In the box was a whole outfit. A jet black silk shirt with a stand collar that was lined with an amazing black and white fringe on the neck. An amazingly crafted black blazer with beautiful paisley patterns in grey that provided an amazing contrast against the black fabric. The detailing of the pattern so intricate and gorgeous one had to look closely otherwise they would miss it altogether. To finish it off was a pair of black slim fit pants and black dress shoes. He couldn’t keep the awe off his face.

"I came up with the idea a few weeks ago and Tae helped me execute it. I or rather we wanted you to have something for today," Jungkook said keeping his gaze trailed on Jimin's face, "Do you like it?"

"Do I like it? I love it. This is gorgeous. Baby... this is.... this is great. I love it," he was short of words. He pulled Jungkook in for a hug and said, "You are the best boyfriend ever!" He pressed a tender kiss on his lips. As he drew away, their eyes met and they went in for another and before long their mouths were fighting for dominance and they were all out of breathe.

Their heated make out session was rudely interrupted by a phone call.

"Jimin! Where the hell are you?" Lisa bellowed through the phone.

His brain was muddled and thoughts scattered and he was struggling to find words.

"Get your ass over here right now!!" She commanded. After a few words were exchanged and of course Jimin reminding Lisa who was boss, he hang up.

"You are a terrible distraction," Jimin accused Jungkook who was watching the whole spectacle in amusement. He clutched his chest pretending he was hurt and then he laughed.

"You are so adorable when you try to assert dominance. It makes me want to bully you a little," Jungkook said.

Jimin stomped his little foot in annoyance and stormed off with the box in his hands and added a sway in his hips for a dramatic effect. Of course all it did was just turn Jungkook on.

"All the best! Fighting!" Jungkook called after him as he watched disappear from his view. “What an ass!” Jungkook said under his breath and bit his lip.

“Oh my God! You are doing Jimin!” a familiar voice materialized from behind Jungkook bringing him out of his very naughty thoughts. He jumped, startled at the ambush and a hiccup escaped him. His heart thrummed wildly through his chest and he brought his hand to his chest, trying to steady his beating heart.

"S-soobin? w-what are you d-doing here?" He asked in a panic. This was bad, really bad. Getting caught fooling around at work was the last thing they both needed. He tried to hide his embarrassment – this was not only bad it was awkward as well.

"Relax! I am a very open minded person," Soobin waved his hands to put him at ease. "Huh… This explains a lot!" he said and stroked his chin.

"What do you mean?" Jungkook asked with a frown. "Wait! First what are you doing here? No one knows about this place."

Soobin looked at him like he had grown an extra head.

"What? You think you are the only ones who play hanky panky around the office? News flash my love, this secret spot isn't really a secret spot," Soobin informed him.

"Shit! Really?!" Jungkook cursed. Soobin nodded. "What are you doing here?"

"I saw you walk out or rather sneak out with a huge box and I was curious, so I followed you," he replied nonchalantly.

"What? That is so wrong!" Jungkook said letting a bit of his anger slip.

"So, sue me!" Soobin replied with a shrug of his shoulders. "But I must say... well done Mr. Jeon. Park Jimin? Wow! What a catch!"

"I know right!" Jungkook replied forgetting momentarily that he was mad. "Wait! I am mad right now. You can't go changing the subject. By the way, what did you mean when you said it explains a lot?"

"Well... I just wondered why we no longer hung out during lunch or why you would always disappear at certain times during the office hours. And then there is also the eye fucking going on between you two during the meetings…"

"What?" Jungkook asked surprised.

"You guys weren't necessarily being subtle and I am what people call perceptive Mr. Jeon. I read people. And my readings told me either you guys were still gathering the courage to approach each other or you were at the awkward stage at the beginning of a relationship. But this… oh my! This is more than I anticipated," he said clapping his hands in glee.

"First, please stop calling me Mr. Jeon. Second, listen Soobin, you can't tell anyone about this," Jungkook begged.

"Give me some credit. I may be the team's resident gossip but I am no blubber mouth. Plus I bat for team true love and you guys have a beautiful thing going. So…” he shrugged. “If you let him go, you will be the biggest idiot I ever met,” he replied.

"Hey! No hurting of feelings! But seriously, thank you. If people find out about this, I don't know how it’s going to be in the workplace," Jungkook said a little concerned.

"Have a little faith in people. You may be surprised," he said. "However, it’s gonna break a lot of hearts when people find out."

"Why?" Jungkook asked confused.

"Jungkook! Are you kidding me! You literally have a whole queue of people men and women who are ready to worship at you feet. Same goes for Jimin. Even the slightest of attention from either of you sends people into wild thoughts and some won't stop talking about it for weeks. Gah! Seriously! Why are the good looking guys gay?"

"Okay okay okay! I get the point,” he said putting an end to the conversation. “Let's go, we've got to get ready for the launch,” he said as he signalled him out.

"Oh please! You just can't wait to see your boyfriend again," Soobin teased as they headed out.

Back in his office, Jimin quickly changed into the new outfit Jungkook had gifted him. It was a perfect fit. How did he get the size so well without taking measurements? He made a mental note to ask Jungkook later. He fixed his silver curls in the mirror. Of all the colors he had ever had, this was his best. It gave him a bit more character and depth.

Everything was set. In a few minutes he would be taking the stage and even though he was nervous he was ready.

"My oh my! That is gonna charm the pants off everyone in the room," Lisa exclaimed as she walked in. "Park Jimin, marry me?" She asked teasingly and bowed. He laughed at her antics.

"You are so dramatic," he said as he picked his speech from his desk and made his way to the door. He could hear whispers of awe through the office as he passed by. Heads turned his way as he passed through the office – admiration, desire, envy, lust – it was a myriad of emotions as he gracefully glided through to the elevator. The smoky eye and the strawberry flavoured pink lips gloss he had added brought the whole outfit together.

"Hear that Mr. Park! That is the sound of pants coming off!" Lisa whispered.

"You are so nasty!" He said as he stifled a laugh. "Remind me again, why am I friends with you?"

“Come on, you adore me,” she said.

Like Jungkook always said, Jimin commanded attention whenever he walked into a room. That was the case when he took the stage. The moment he walked on stage, the noise across the room suddenly died down and people quickly settled into their seats. All focused on him, all eager to hear what he had to say. There was no doubt that they would hang onto his every word.

So, he took a deep breathe and slowly began his speech. He began be acknowledging whoever was present in order of precedence and thanked them for taking the time out of their precious schedules. After the initial introduction of the company and its values, he delved into talking about the new product.

Somewhere in the crowd was a dark haired boy with blonde highlights who couldn't help but swell with pride. Seeing the love of his life up there in his element was fulfilling and such a turn on. He wanted to see him excel, to see him be the best there can be. He wanted to be there to see him conquer new things and achieve new milestones. Finally, all the hard work he had put in all these months had paid off. To say that the final product was incredible, would be an understatement. It was more than incredible. He was a perfectionist just like him and their mutual desire to have an epic final product fuelled its creation.

He came back from the musings of his mind as Jimin was winding up his speech with acknowledgements. Giving credit where it was due and thanking all who had been involved in bringing this vision to life. Stepping off the podium, he bowed to the audience. It was done, this was it! He received a standing ovation. Jimin let out a breath he did not know he was holding.

Jungkook clapped ad his chest swelled with pride. That was his man, he couldn’t be more proud. He wanted to run out and give him a hug, lift him up and twirl him around and congratulate him for a job well done. To call him sweet names and kiss him silly. But he had to restrain himself. There was a time and a place for everything.

After several more speeches, it was time to mingle where the guests would talk to the creators of the product and obtain answers for whatever questions they had. So with a drink in his hand and Soobin on his side, Jungkook watched as Jimin met with people, discussing with them, smiling, bowing, answering questions and receiving congratulatory pats on the back.

"Oh my! You are so smitten!" Soobin said.

"Oh shut up Soobin!" he said with a glare and took a sip of his champagne. It took a lot for him not to set his drink down, march across the room, take Jimin in his arms and kiss him right there in front of everyone. To announce to the whole world that this incredible man was his. He sighed. For now, he had to be content with following him across the crowd as he mingled.

He couldn’t look away even if he wanted to. It was the little things about him that he found fascinating and drew him in – like the way his eyes disappeared when he smiled or the way he cutely scrunched his nose when he was a little embarrassed. Or the way he talked with his hands or unknowingly pouted when he was concentrating on someone speaking. "Who wouldn't be smitten? I mean look at him," he finally said to Soobin. Soobin rolled his eyes.

The hours flew by and the party thinned with time. People went around the room to the different booths that housed the samples of the products. It was a huge success.

What Jungkook didn't know was that the silver haired boy paid just as much attention to him. Somehow, knowing that Jungkook was in the room gave him a sense of relief and courage to mingle. Jimin was an introvert. Gatherings like this made him nervous and took all they had out of him. Somewhere deep inside him, he would panic whenever he lost sight of him and would only relax when his eyes found him in the crowd.

That was the dynamics of their relationship, they were each others anchor even though they hadn't said this to each other, they knew the needed each other. They knew they loved each other.
