DINNER

Kai knew about the shares she bought, infact he was the one who encouraged her to buy them.

"Well, I guess being the only lady in the board is hard" Abigail said as she took a spoonful in her mouth.

Her tongues were tingling as her senses had been longing for food ever since and now she was finally able to eat she didn't want to stop and so she took another spoonful.

"Just because you are a lady doesn't change anything Abi" Kai said.

"You should try explaining that to those cunning old men in the board, can you imagine that they had all sold their shares to this mysterious buyer." Abigail said as she grabbed the water bottle to take a sip.

"You should've not expected better from them Abi, they are willing to do anything for money" Kai stated as he picked a napkin and wiped the smudge at the side of her lips.

"Yh but what's even worst is that they now also want me to sell mine too and when I refused Mr Walker called me stubborn and stingy. He also pointed to the fact that I was a newbie and didn't know what was happening" Abigail stated as she continued her meal.

"He's not wrong about the newbie part" Kai said which earned him a look from Abigail and he couldn't help but chuckle lightly.

"But Abi if I may ask why are you so hellbent on not selling your shares?" Kai asked as he poured juice into a glass for her.

"I know the company has not been doing well this past few months and I know that it needs capable hands but Kai, I just have a feeling that whoever wants to buy my shares this badly must have a bigger plan for this company and I feared it might not be a good one" Abigail said as she picked the glass of orange juice.

"But you're not willing to sell your shares just puts your job on the line Abi" Kai said with all seriousness as he looked at her.

"What do you mean by that?" Abigail couldn't help but ask as she didn't understand what he meant.

"Well since everyone else in the board sold their shares, it means that they are in favour of this mysterious buyer and if you still disagree to sell your shares they could vote you out." Kai informed her as he knew a lot about the board.

"That's true" Abigail said as she dropped her spoon down. She then began to think of her next motive, sure what Kai said was true, the board could vote her out if they wanted to. Abigail then thought of talking to some of the board members.

"Abi I think it would be good if you sell your shares" Kai said and Abigail couldn't help but arc her brows in question.

"I mean the board is right, the company has not been doing well and if this mysterious buyer is promising to make some improvements then you should sell your shares." Kai suggested but Abigail didn't like his suggestion.

"What if this mysterious buyer just want to make the problem worst?" Abigail asked.

"I'm not sure about that Abi, the person seems to really like the company to be willing to offer so much money to buy your shares. Abi give it a thought before making any decision" Kai suggested as he placed his hands on her shoulders.

Abigail sighed and then she decided that maybe she should give it a thought when she gets home.

"Are you not hungry? you haven't taken a single bite from the food" Abigail said when she noticed how the man had just been staring at her.

"You seem really hungry so I left my portion for you" Kai said as he had noticed how she was enjoying the meal he thought that it was only best he let her have it all.

"But I can't finish all this" Abigail said as she then started putting some dish on an empty plate for him.

"Here" Abigail said as she hands him the plate.

With a warn smile Kai collected the plate from her hands as he too began to eat. And so the duo enjoyed their hearty lunch.

Inside the Quinn Consolidated

Xavier was just taking a look at some documents that he needed to sign when he noticed the time.

It was twenty-five minutes past five, he had to be at the Quinn's mansion by Six and it was a thirty minutes drive form his office.

He then arranged the documents and then placed it on top his desk. He stood up as he grabbed his suit jacket and put it on.

His eyes were still emotionless and his face as expressionless as ever, even though he was going to meet his family after five years.

As he stepped out of the office he saw Jacob who was at his usual position.

"Has Mr Lee returned?" Xavier asked

"No sir, he still hasn't returned" Jacob said as he lowered his head.

Without another word Xavier entered the elevator, as the elevator doors were closing his eyes were mischievous as he looked at Jacob who was trying so hard to avoid his gaze.

The elevator took him directly to the private exit and so he made way to the parking lot as he moved towards his car.

"Good evening Mr Quinn" The driver greeted as he opened the door for Xavier but like always Xavier didn't respond to his greeting and just entered the black limo.

As the car then entered the road Xavier looked outside as he took note of the passing cars. He had always been observant and today was no different.

Seconds passed and Xavier then looked away as he rested his head on the bed rest with his eyes closed. He was going to have to prepare himself for what's going to happen at dinner today.
