40 One Round for 50 League Coins (Part 2)

Next to Enchantia's No. 37 Beast Tamer High School, there's South River Park.

"Hey there, do you want some barbecue?" A lady at a food stall greets at the park's entrance.

Riley checks the time; it's 16:27, which is about an hour before Enchantia's No. 37 Beast Tamer High School student end the school.

"I'll take ten skewers lamb," Riley approaches the barbecue stall.

"Do you want them spicy?" The lady, busy with her cooking, inquires.

"No, plain," Riley shakes his head.

"Are you a student from that school? I feel like I haven't seen you around," the lady continues her work while engaging in conversation.

"No, I'm just waiting for someone," Riley replies.

"No wonder, I thought I will remember a handsome boy like you if I had seen you before," the lady smiles.

Riley politely returns the smile.

From a young age, Riley had often received compliments, and while he used to feel shy about it as a child, as he grew older, he became somewhat indifferent.

Five minutes later, Riley received the skewers of lamb and gave one to the drooling Fire Dog.

"Bark!"

The Fire Dog cheerfully barked and eagerly devoured the food as soon as it received it.

"What's the name of this Spirit Beast? I haven't seen one like it around here," the lady couldn't help but ask as she watched the Fire Dog.

There's a distinct barrier between Beast Tamers and ordinary people that separates them into two different worlds.

The circumstances they face after completing nine years of compulsory education are entirely different. However, even within society, there are hierarchies among ordinary people.

Some have power, some don't. Some have money, some don't. Some run small businesses, some work for others.

These distinctions in power and wealth are determined by birth. If you weren't born with these advantages, it's challenging for ordinary people to access information about Spirit Beasts after their nine years of compulsory education.

Even if the information is widely available and broadcasted on all channels, ordinary people often lack the time and energy to understand it. Their primary concern is to making their ends meet.

The lady in front of Riley clearly belonged to the lower strata among ordinary people.

"It's called the Fire Dog," Riley replied.

"Bark," the Fire Dog responded with a timely call when it heard its Beast Tamer introducing it.

The lady smiled and said, "Look at how well-behaved it is. My son is in middle school too, and when he graduates, I'll get him one of these too."

Riley hesitated to respond. In reality, the lady's statement wasn't entirely wrong; except for being a bit mischievous, his Fire Dog was quite well-behaved.

"Bark."

The Fire Dog looked up at Riley.

Riley handed over another skewer of lamb from the ones in his hand.

The Fire Dog accepted it joyfully.

Of the ten skewers of lamb, three were for Riley, and the remaining seven were for the Fire Dog.

Riley sat down on a nearby lounge chair. The location offered a clear view of the entrance to Enchantia's No. 37 Beast Tamer High School. It was a perfect spot because any students passing through South River Park on their way home would notice him.

Riley placed the backpack on the ground and used some tape to attach the piece of paper from his pocket.

[ Spirit Beast Battle – Just Hoping for a Defeat ]

In the lower right corner, there was a small line of text:

[ One round for 50 League Coins ]

This was an idea that Riley had pondered for a while. If you were looking for a place with the most F-level Beast Tamers, it would undoubtedly be the Beast Tamer High Schools.

Nurturing an Intermediate level Spirit Beast typically took 1 to 2 years, and most High School students in their first and second years still had Spirit Beasts at the Junior level.

The mention of 50 League Coins was purely for the sake of fun. Riley didn't expect anyone to engage in a duel with him for such a small sum of money.

He just wanted to attract their attention, as it would be an enjoyable pastime for these newly minted Beast Tamers. There would probably be someone willing to spar with him.

As for why he chose Enchantia's No. 37 Beast Tamer High School, it was because this school was the closest one to his residential area. Changing into his school uniform, he hoped to avoid encountering people he knew.

After all, it was somewhat embarrassing to stand outside someone else's school with "Just Hoping for a Defeat" written on his backpack.

Riley sat quietly with the Fire Dog by his side on the lounge chair.

Although it wasn't yet time for Enchantia's No. 37 Beast Tamer High School to finish its classes, there were other people in South River Park.

When they passed by Riley, many couldn't help but turn their heads to look. The content written on his backpack seemed somewhat doesn't match with his appearance.

"Bark!"

The Fire Dog, seeing others looking over, bared its teeth and let out a playful growl.

Well, with this Fire Dog's image, everything seems to fit...
