45 Move Proficiency (Part 1)

Understanding type advantages was common knowledge, and Catherine was well aware of that.

However, she had never battled with Fire-type Spirit Beasts before. In their entire school, there were only two daredevils who had contracted Fire-type Spirit Beasts as their initial Spirit Beasts.

Both of them were in the sophomore year, and there wasn't a single one of them in his own grade.

Does type suppression was this strong? Catherine felt a bit down.

She was so absent-minded that she didn't even know when her opponent had left after receiving the payment. It wasn't until Joanna tapped her shoulder that she snapped back to reality.

"Why didn't you ask for his contact information and make the transfer so that you could share his contact with me?" Joanna asked.

Catherine: "...Get lost!"

...

After Riley the third battle, his mother called.

"Why haven't you come back yet?"

Riley checked the time; it was 18:17.

The school day at Aspertia Middle School ended at exactly 5:00 in the afternoon. Since their home was close to the school, taking a bus for about ten minutes or dawdling until 5:30 would still get him home in time.

"I'm out training with Fire Dog," Riley replied.

There was a brief silence on the other end of the phone, and then his mother said, "Come back soon; the food is getting cold."

"I got it."

Riley hung up the phone and peeled off the note stuck to his backpack.

Today's results left him dissatisfied. The peak time for school dismissal was so short, and by the time he had finished his three battles, most people had already left.

The Efficiency is still too slow.

Riley realized that waiting at other people school like this wasn't the best method.

After some though for a moment, he accessed his Beast Tamer Codex.

The numerical values of all the Moves had increased to some extent. But why wasn't the point not a multiple of 3? Could it be that defeating different Spirit Beasts resulted in different points?

He had battled three times today: Dovely, Spottybug, and Foxsol. They were all beginner level Spirit Beasts, and the only difference was that Spottybug was defeated in a single move, while the others took several rounds to battle.

Was it the Spottybug that lowered his point?

Riley looked at the data in front of him and suddenly realized something.

"Fire Dog, use Fire Fang," Riley said abruptly.

"Bark."

Although Fire Dog didn't understand Riley's intention, it obediently used the Fire Fang Move. Since there was no target to attack, Fire Dog quickly retracted the Move.

Riley checked the Beast Tamer Codex again.

The values for Fire Fang Move had increased!

Doesn't that mean that by practicing on your own move, the proficiency can increase even without a target to attack?

He had initially made a mistake in his thinking. Move proficiency was indeed honed through practice and didn't necessarily require a target to attack.

But if releasing a Move once could increase proficiency, wouldn't everyone's Spirit Beasts' Moves reach an incredible level of mastery?

Riley wasn't sure about others' Move proficiency, but it seemed like his own increased after each use.

To confirm his theory, Riley had Fire Dog use the Fire Fang Move once more.
