49 I'm 24! I'm not into a minor nor a man! (Part 1)

The bus moved slightly.

The driver pretended to remain calm as he continued to drive, but the sweat on his forehead betrayed him.

"How much longer to the next stop?" a voice broke the silence.

"About 5 more minutes," someone replied.

The bus fell silent again.

"Can you let Fire Dog smell your scent? Maybe Fire Dog can track down where that thing is," Riley suddenly spoke up in the eerie silence.

Before the female student could respond, the square-faced man standing next to her sneered, "Even if there's really a wild Ghost-type Spirit Beast on the bus, are you sure you want to find it while the bus is moving? What if you provoke it and something goes wrong? Can you bear the responsibility?"

"Yeah, let's wait until the bus stops at the next station."

"This is a matter for the Supervisory Department to handle; we shouldn't cause any trouble."

"Right, what's the number for the Supervisory Department? I'll make the call."

"If i remember it corectly, its should be 999."

"...That's the Enforcement Department."

Passengers on the bus began to discuss the situation, with one suggestion after another.

"It's not a Ghost-type," Riley said.

"How do you know it's not?" someone asked.

"You're the one who said there's something, and now you're saying there isn't. Are you playing games with us?" the square-faced man shouted.

Riley looked at him and said, "Sir, I feel like you've been targeting me from the start."

The square-faced man widened his eyes and yelled, "What do you mean?! I'm 24! I'm not into a minor nor a man!"

"Sir, your voice is a bit loud," Riley said, as he casually cleaned his ear.

The square-faced man glared fiercely at Riley, looking menacing. If it weren't for the Fire Dog in front of Riley, he might have taken a punch at him.

"Why is it not a Ghost-type?" the female student asked at this point.

"That aunt's Spirit Beast is a Rodetic. If there were Ghost-type Spirit Beasts nearby, its tail would show a lightning-like pattern, but right now, its tail is hanging vertically down," Riley explained, pointing to the Spirit Beast on the woman's shoulder.

The female student paused, recalling that there might be some truth to this.

Rodetics, also known as Magnetic Rat Spirit Beast. It have strong magnetic field sensitivity, and they can sense specific magnetic field movements.

Unique magnetic fields, like those generated by Ghost-type Spirit Beasts, could inadvertently stimulate their temporal brain lobes, causing their tails to exhibit a lightning-like pattern.

But textbooks are just textbooks, and he hadn't connected this obscure knowledge to real life so quickly.

"Yeah, that's right. My Rodetic does behave that way," the woman next to her confirmed with a nod.

The female student, now convinced, said, "Go ahead and let it smell."

Riley nodded at Fire Dog.

Fire Dog obediently moved closer to the female student and began to sniff her scent.

Riley noticed that the facial muscles of the square-faced man standing next to them tensed up instantly.

Fire Dog sniffed the air and then let out a sharp bark directed at the square-faced man.

"What's your dog barking at, you brat?" the square-faced man growled.

"Bark!"

Fire Dog's fur bristled, its limbs tensed, and its sharp teeth were prominently exposed. It was evidently provoked by the man in front of them.

The square-faced man was taken aback but still hold on and did not retreat, He looking towards the boy holding Fire Dog, and wanting to urging him to control his Spirit Beast.

However, what he meet was an expressionless and icy gaze from the boy, which was even more scarier than Fire Dog's aggresive pose.

Riley felt incredibly calm at this moment. He slowly stroked Fire Dog's back, trying to soothe it and prevent it from getting agitated.

They couldn't attack this man first; the League explicitly prohibited Beast Tamers from using their Spirit Beasts to harm ordinary citizens.

Even if they want to attack, they couldn't do it in the public space, especially in the bus that full of people.

This man clearly had something to do with it. When he mentioned that Fire Dog reacted to something earlier, he had the most intense response.

Fire Dog also detected a similar scent on him as the female student.

However, it was impossible for him to make something appear and disappear on someone else so suddenly.
