62 Brittney (Part 2)

Even their school didn't have anyone like him.

No wonder he dared to form a contract with a Fire-type Spirit Beast as his initial contracted Spirit Beast, and he had trained the Fire Dog to be so obedient. Brittney discreetly assessed the Fire Dog beside him.

"Why are you still taking the High School entrance exam? A talent like you should be getting a direct admission," Brittney asked.

"Do you have a misconception about what talent is?" Riley replied with a hint of exasperation.

What kind of talent was he, who was worried about whether he could even pass the minimum score for the High School entrance exam?

Brittney assumed that he was just being modest and asked, "Which school are you preparing to enter?"

Riley answered, "St. Angela High School."

Brittney looked at him with a look of confirmation.

Riley couldn't be bothered to explain just how poor his grades were. He felt that time was precious now, so he bid farewell, saying, "I have to go home and work on some practice papers. I'll see you later."

As he turned to leave, Brittney grabbed him and said with a hint of grievance, "Handsome guy, you haven't told me your name yet."

Riley: "..."

...

...

On the bus ride back home, the Fire Dog enjoyed the view outside as usual, while Riley took out his phone to add Brittney's name to his contacts.

As he opened the messaging app, he noticed a conspicuous "99+" in red at the top right corner.

Riley was puzzled, and when he opened it, he found messages from several classmates whom he rarely interacted with, all asking what had happened to him.

In their eyes, taking such a long leave right before the High School entrance exams meant something big had happend.

Touched by their concern, Riley replied to each one, assuring them that he was fine.

After responding to his classmates, he noticed a message from his mother, it was sent two hours ago.

"When is the special admission for Enchantia City No. 6 Beast Tamer High School? I'll call the teacher to request your leave," his mother's message read.

Riley grew anxious and quickly dialed his mother's number.

The call was answered shortly.

"Mom, did you call the teacher?" Riley felt a bit guilty.

"I did."

"Mom, actually, I..."

"But the call didn't go through."

Riley immediately abandoned what he had wanted to say.

"What were you going to say?" his mother asked.

"Well, I wanted to try to get into St. Angela High School," Riley quickly changed the topic.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the call. "Are the special admission dates for the two schools conflicting?"

"No, Enchantia City No. 6 Beast Tamer High School is on June 9th, and St. Angela High School is on June 10th, just one day apart," Riley replied.

"In that case, why not try both?" his mother suggested.

At first, Yelena hadn't asked about the special admission date for St. Angela High School because she hadn't paid it much attention. She had impulsively wanted her son to apply for the special admission after witnessing the behavior of the school's teachers and that woman.

However, after a couple of days, she had come to her senses and understood that her son had a 99.99% chance of not getting accepted. So, she hadn't mentioned St. Angela High School to her son anynore.

However, it was clear that her son was still thinking about it. Since he had raised the idea first, she couldn't do much about it.

Yelena was now just grateful that the special admission for Enchantia City No. 6 Beast Tamer High School was scheduled before St. Angela High School's special admission.

If it were the other way around and St. Angela's admission came first, it might affect her son's state of mind when taking the entrance exam for Enchantia City No. 6 Beast Tamer High School the following day.

"Mom, you don't have to make any more calls. I've already requested leave from my class teacher," Riley instructed.

"Oh, I see," Yelena replied.

Since the call had been made, she had no intention of making another call. She didn't want to deal with these teachers at all if it weren't for her son.
