23 Chapter 23 Traps

"Three on one, bad match up against me, now I wished I had magic," Ray grumbled as he looked at his wolf at the back, taking a battle stance wanting to fight against the slimes.

"Stay back," he commanded his wolf. His pet was not yet ready for battle and would die instantly if any of the slime goo touched it.

Ray charged toward the slimes and jumped sideways when they shot their goo towards him. Successfully dodging the attacks, he dashed forward towards the slimes again.

He wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.

A slight cracking noise echoed in the dungeon as Ray slashed the crystal of one of the slimes. He made sure to hit the crystal in the middle. The remaining slimes retreated far away and shot their sticky goo towards him.

"So they are avoiding close combat," Ray smirked as he dodged their attack with ease.

"Now," Ray shouted as he threw his spear straight at one of the slime's core.

The spear hit it spot-on and shattered the small crystal making the slime disintegrate and die.

"Slimes are really weak. Apart from that sticky goo, I don't think they have any other attack"

Ray slowly walked towards the last slime with one of his spears in hand.

The slime rushed toward Ray to close their distance and attack him. However, it was slow compared to Ray.

He threw his spear, unfortunately slightly missing the creature's core, and the slime used this opportunity to attack Ray.

*Crack*

Ray destroyed the slime core the instant it got close to him.

Ray breathed a sigh of relief as the battle came to an end. He was glad that none of the slime's attacks hit him. Noticing that the fight was over, his pet wolf ran towards him, wagging its tail.

Ray hasn't looked over his stats in a few days. So naturally, he would love to see his improvement, so as he thought of the main screen, it appeared in front of his eyes.

His growth was surprising, as his stats had risen back in the forest, but he didn't know which level the slime king would be, so he could not relax.

He didn't even care about the task anymore. He just wanted a way out of here. At least his health and stamina were almost full, so Even if he encountered any slimes, he could take care of them.

Ray walked a little bit until he reached a large room with two doors,

"Doors and path, I am so tired of dungeons," Ray muttered, shaking his head as he approached the left door.

As he pushed open the door, a well-lit room came into view with torches lining both sides of the wall. At the end of the room, there was a book lying on a pedestal, there were no slimes in sight, and the book was in perfect condition.

'What could possibly be in the book' wondered Ray as he took a step forward and *swoosh* an arrow fired from the wall.

Ray reacted as fast as he could and bent backward, but the arrow still grazed him.

He fell outside the room and touched his face as blood trickled down his forehead. The arrow would have pierced his brain if it weren't for his quick reaction.

"Traps" Ray stood up and observed the room.

The first trap was activated when he stepped on one of the stones on the ground, so he took out one of his spears and threw it towards the other end of the room. It traveled in the air without triggering any traps and hit the wall on the other side.

"If only I could fly, this would be easy," Ray remarked as his spear appeared back in his hands.

'I should just abandon the book. No, if it is protected, maybe it has a good use' Ray stood still, thinking of all possible ways he could pass through, but in the end, he could not find a safe one.

He had a crazy thought but wasn't sure if it would work. He planned to run through the traps at full speed. He looked at his pet, and another idea came to his mind.

Ray laid down close to the door and used his spear to touch the stone he stepped on, but nothing happened. Ray's eyes widened, and he looked at his pet with a grin.

"Don't worry," Ray said to his pet as it entered the room.

The pet was still small, so if it stepped on the stones, it wouldn't activate the traps.

His plan so far was working, and his pet passed the traps without activating any of them.

"shit," Ray cursed inwards. Unfortunately, the book was too heavy, so his pet couldn't drag it back.

"Well, time for plan b" Ray bent himself and was ready to run through the room.

*boom* he dashed forward as fast as possible as he raced through the room.

The traps activated one after the other, but Ray managed to dodge them, few of the arrows grazed him, but that didn't stop him.

One of the arrows priced his leg when he nearly reached the other end of the room and crashed into the book. His pet licked his face as he sat up.

"Argh, all this stress for this stupid book," Ray groaned as he touched the book. The blue screen appeared.

"Woah," Ray's eyes widened as he saw the system interface.
