Chapter 33: Working Hard or Hardly Working?

In the last six days, it feels like I’ve only had six hours of sleep. When Saz didn’t show up the next day, I was willing to give him a free pass and let it slide. I knew he was a busy guy and gave him the benefit of the doubt. Girls came and went, asking for Saz with their tits popping out of their shirts like it was a standard company dress code. After a while of me waving them off, they got the hint and stopped coming by. Saz wasn't in and I didn't know when he was coming back.

I sent Saz another email through bleary eyes before stumbling home.

Maybe he'd show up tomorrow.

When I walked into the office and saw only a promotional email from Publix, that’s when I picked up the phone. My hand shook as I dialed. I couldn’t tell if it was from the anger of him messing up my timeline or the nerves bracing to hear his voice.

“Hi, you've reached Saz,” his dark voice chimed. “But please, leave a message.”
