Kurayami Shingami

I read the letter. I was invited to entrance ceremony for "the" school. The letter came in an envelope with a red seal, with two lighting bolts in the shape of a "X" engraved on the seal. My name is Kurayami Shinigami. I am a tall 15 year old male with dark purples eyes, black hair, and a whiteish-tan skin tone. I was wearing a black cloak and a set of light weight, black armor. I was suspicious of the letter because I was apparently invited to the top magical school in the world. Still going there anyways. I took a dagger, a gun, and a katana, all for self-defense since the entire world was in a war.

When I arrived, a tall, large man guided me with a handful of other students through the front doors. As we walked on, I was able to see that the walls were lined with various paintings, but the small caravan of students were moving quickly to keep up with our "guide". We then took a set a set of stairs, which lead to a entrance, which lead to a stadium. It had no roof and had chairs that connected to the wall behind it. There were 8 gaps of stairs between each set of chairs where people were constantly entering from. There was 10 rows of 50 chairs in each set. Each chair was wooden and foldable with a red velvet cushion on the seat. In the middle was a giant pit that was half the diameter of the stadium itself. In the middle was a small back figure.

That figure said," Welcome students of the Universal Academy! Today is the test of who will be chosen to enter our prestigious school." Though he was very far away, his voice could be heard as if he was right next to me. Our guide led us to edge of the stadium. There a waist-high stone wall separated us and the pit.

"If your exam taker deems you worthy, you shall enter the school," said our guide. I was finally able to get a good look at him. He had a short, bushy beard, intimidatingly black eyes and a wool hat that covered what I assumed was his bald head.

The test was to fight an instructor so our tester would be able to see our powers. Only three people out of eight actually passed before it was my turn. There was a metal gate placed between the two sides of the wall, another parallel on the other side of the stadium. I walked down a set of stone steps to reach the arena, separated from the wall with a small gap and a thin line of chalk.

The instructor was on the other of the arena and the announcer was behind the line of chalk. With a simple vertical movement of the announcer's arm, and the yelled command of "start", the match begun. I immediately fell on one knee and launched my left hand forward. Darkness shot out of my hand as my arm turned black. I closed my eyes, felling my energy depleting and leaving through my arm.

There 9 elements, separated into 3 levels depending on how common it is. The most common are fire, water, and earth. The elements in the middle level are lighting and life. The most rarest elements are space, time, light, and dark.

I stood back up as a booming voice yelled "STOP". I looked up to see a two men and a women sitting under a small, red roof. The man in the middle of the three was standing up, the man who had yelled," STOP". He seemed pretty old with the white hair and the long, white beard. "So you have the power of darkness I see", he said. He turned to the boy next to him. "Xiao Laung, would you like to battle him, if you don't mind," he asked.

"Happily, sir," Xiao Laung said. He jump from his seat to where the original instructor stood, who was now gone. Suddenly, he was surrounded by darkness. After a second, the darkness disappeared and he was wore black armor while wielding two black daggers.

With a shocked expression, the announcer yelled," START." As a reflex, I one-handedly held my sword in front of me. Xiao Laung jumped up and floated above me, the only thing keeping his daggers from my chest was my sword. I pulled my gun from it's holster and shot a bullet, but he muttered something under his breath which formed a shield of darkness. We both jumped backward, planning our next attacks. I then used my ability to shadow travel and appeared behind him, my slash being blocked one of his daggers. My sword flew a few feet somewhere to my right. I continued shoot bullets while charging straight at him until I was behind to him. In one fluid, I pulled out my dagger, stabbed him in the back, and moved my dagger in an ark with the blood following.

I started to walk to the stairs as the announcer announced my victory, grabbing my sword on the way. Ignoring the shocked expressions around me, I found a spot to sit on the sidelines. Including me, only seven other people passed the entrance exam. Afterwards, our guild handed us our dorm numbers, schedules, and the list of supplies.

On the first day of school, I was walking to my dorm with a bag full of supplies. After like ten minutes of walking around outside, I was finally able to find dorm 84, my dorm. I walk into a six-person mansion-like dorm. It was huge and almost everything was made from either marble, obsidian, or gold. To the left and right was a set up spiral stairs. At the back were four doors; one for the gym; one for library; one for the kitchen; and one for the basement. Above was a large chandler the size of the white and shag gray rug on the floor. The outline of the rug was a large white sofa. Upon that sofa, a boy around my age slept face-up on the lap of a girl also around my age.

"Hi," I said in a questioning tone. The girl looked up, her gentle, smiling face replied," Hello," as she continued to stroke the boy's hair. She wore black tights, a black skirt, and a flowery crop top with a white under shirt. Her deep blue eyes went back to the boy's face, showing off her pale white hair and pointed ears. A she-elf.

I asked," Are you his girlfriend or something?"

She looked back at me and placed her index finger over her lips. She answered in a whisper, "Yes. My name in Abilene Virgo. What's yours?"

"I'm Kurayami Shinigami. Who is he and what is he like?" I asked in a low tone, pointing toward the sleeping high schooler.

"His name is Alex Smith. He always seems very sad, but he is always a little bit happier around me. I don't know what's wrong with him because he refuses to tell me. He's also always tired, saying he's always asleep," she explained, quietly. Without her knowing, I focused on his aura. An aura of a person is basically everything about someone. The more skilled you are at reading aura, the more you can learn about them. It seemed he was a rejected prince. He also has a mythical beast inside of him, but it seems he doesn't know anything about that. I decided not to tell her about either of those facts.

"Ah, could you tell me about this place?" I asked.

"That's Alex's job, but your room would be over there," She answered, pointing to the staircase to my right. I walked up the stairs. My last scene of the two was Alex rolling over, placing his face in Abilene's stomach. Abilene suppressed a laugh from how much that probably tickled.

At the top of the steps were three doors, two with signs that read "Alex Smith" and "Kurayami Shinigami," the other one empty. I entered the room with my name written on it, the one on the right. At the back was an empty oak bookshelf with a gap in the middle for the window To it's right was a closet that had two drawers at the bottom. To my left was a large, wooden four poster bed with a king sized mattress. In between the bed and the bookshelf was a door that had a sign which read "Alex." To my right were two doors, one for the bathroom and the other was for the study. I was too tired to explore from walking around so I decided to do it later. I got on my bed, pulled my blanket over me, and drifted off to sleep.
