Chapter 4: Escape and savior

The horrible sight before them was the town before them reduced to nothing but ruins, with blood from dead bodies spread out in some areas.

As I begin to walk forwards, I muttered to myself "as expected" as I sigh. In an attempt to keep herself from throwing up, Akemi walks after him while covering her mouth.

After following him for a while, Akemi commented, "You've changed.". I came to a sudden stop as I said "I'm not sure what you mean". Without warning, Akio grabs Akemi's hand and pulls her into an alleyway as he said: "come on".

"You don't hear it?" I asked Akemi, but she answered "no". Am I the only one able to hear it, as I thought to myself as I began to peek my head out of the alley?

The sight of a creature approaching where they last stood, but what shocked us was how less inhuman the creature appeared. It had an enlarged mouth, a long tongue protruded from it, as well as a scrawny body with only four arms.

In addition to that, the creature had 3 holes where eyes would be assumed to be as it turned its head scouting around as if it knows we're hiding.

"How many of these things are there?" I said as I began to sweat with an anxious feeling. The creature began to walk away from where we were, which gave me a sense of relief as I was about to run out.

As it didn't seem to leave the area completely, we would have to move quickly, and quietly, I thought to myself. With one breath grabbed Akemi's hand and began to creep quietly but quickly towards a nearby building.

As we approached the building, the creature turned its head in our direction, causing us to pause our movements. Despite this, it did not come towards us, which allowed us to enter the building.

While sweating profusely, Akemi sighed in relief as she dropped to her knees. " Well that was stressful," I said while I was leaning against a wall. "Thankfully, it was blind." Akemi replied, "but what do you have planned for the future?".

With a sigh, I replied, "I'm not sure, but for now I know we're safe.". But Without a warning, an arm suddenly busted through the wall. Sending shivers down Akemi's spine,as she began to run away.

"Stop!" I shouted in desperation as I forced myself up to chase after her. As I continued running, I saw her frozen in place, not moving a muscle.

I rushed over even faster to her, but not to my knowledge, I saw another creature staring her down. The appearance of the creature seemed indescribable as it stared us down with its large soulless eye.

But as my eyes made contact with the creature, I was unable to move a muscle in my body. I thought to myself, "why can't I move," as I struggled.

While I was struggling to move, I heard an ominous and heart-shattering groan come from the creature. Which caused a horrific flash of memories to go through my mind as it leaves me in a shaken state.

As we stood there for what seemed like forever in silence, a yawning like noise came from behind me. Which surprise it was from Nemuru as he rose from his slumber.

The first thing Nemuru saw was the creature staring us down, but without any struggle, Nemuru got off my back. As he stared at the creature, he seemed unaffected by the gaze. As mark appears on his forehead in the shape of a spiral as Nemuru raised his hand toward the creature after staring at it for a while, and witnessed a sight that was incredible.

Suddenly, a barrier that appeared to be almost imperceptible separated him from the creature. Due to the unbelievable sight before us, Akemi and I fell to the ground.

As he held up the barrier, Nemuru muttered, "That entity was right, I guess."

"Whatever he's saying, I need him to clarify later." I thought to myself. Despite being able to move again, I still had to force myself to stand up.

"How are you doing it?" I asked him, only to hear him reply with, "I'm not sure myself.". Caught off guard and left without any response, I could only stand and stare.

After sighing, I went over to Akemi and tried shaking her to wake her up from her traumatized state. It took some time, but After a second she finally succeeded in snapping her out of her traumatized state.

Despite this, Akemi stared blankly at me, with a fearful look in her eyes that gave me an unsettled feeling in my stomach.

Though we were safe, a feeling of uneasiness came over us when we realized that it was a bit too quiet. The creature began to form into one bubble as Nemuru formed three more barriers around its body.

Around the creature's body, Nemuru began to create three more barriers, which merged together to form a bubble. As the bubble formed, he started to make it smaller and smaller until it crushed the creature's head. Even with its head crushed, a scream for help sent shivers down our spine as Nemuru dismantled the barriers.

The remains of the creature's dismantled head fell to the floor as its body began to slump over to the side. In a shaken tone, Akemi asked, "what was that voice, and why did it come from that thing.".

Despite her question, I remained silent due to the fact that they were once humans. Akemi looked at me with sadness and desperation in her voice and asked, "are they humans…?".

As I came to the realization of what she had said, those words left me in complete silence as I regarded her.

Clenching my mouth shut, a screeching sound being made beyond where we stood, leaving me with no time to speak. As it was in reach of us, we began to run down the hall of the hotel.

While we were in motion, the awful screeching which sounded like show scratching a chalkboard became unbearable to our ears. As the creature appeared from corner of the hallway rushing at us at full speed, not seeming to stop.
