Cat 2

Brushing some dust off his body, Yijun walked over, looking through the crowd before finding Chu Feng, who somehow seemed to be in clean, untouched clothes. Like he had not even been a part of it. Chu Feng's eyes widened for a second as he saw the new, strange-looking "Cat" on Yijun's shoulder, but shook his head, not questioning his eccentric friend.

Wang Yijun patted him on the shoulder, smiling. "Dang… I was pretty close. Got second." Speaking silently, he patted Chu Feng on the back, who felt a chill.

When he dashed past the rest of the crowd, Chu Feng had noticed that Wang Yijun was doing pretty well, in eighth place. There was no way no one would notice if Wang Yijun surpassed one of the geniuses, he would immediately be rooted out among the disciples. And if he was hiding his strength, why would he only surpass one of the geniuses? There was only one reward after all….. Through their many years of friendship, Chu Feng knew that though Yijun liked joking around, he was not one to lie. So... Did he know?

Lost in thought for a while, Chu Feng surmised that Wang Yijun was also hiding something. Besides the Cats.

They made their way back to the Outer Sect disciple dorms, chattering away about many random things.

"What do you think I should name my comrades here…?" Wang Yijun pointed at the two Cats, one, the normal Cat was meowing enthusiastically as it engaged with the Delinquent Cat, who was lazing around, hanging from Yijun's neck.

It was surprising that Yijun had not named them yet despite being a complete "cat crazed psycho" as referred to by many friends before he was brutally dropped into this world… Then again, in the future, he would spam summon a bunch of Cats, so keeping up with their names would be tough….

Entering a giant courtyard, the question was left unanswered as the two parted ways, Chu Feng, probably really happy over the skill book and grass he got, and Wang Yijun, deciding he wanted a pork bun. The Outer Sect Dorms were pretty big, as a lot of people had completely trash talent.

It was a maze of a place, filled with countless alleys and courtyards, leading in different directions, but what was one of the most prolific places, was the so-called "Merchants Market", probably the only place in the Sect where one could get menial miscellaneous stuff. There were some cultivation-related resources, but those were sorta rare.

Most of the adobes were hastily built, some lopsided or falling into ruin, made of stone, straw, and wood, they were obviously quite old too…

He jumped onto one of the roofs, taking off across the busy "town" and in the middle of a dirt road, surrounded by countless disciples. It was lively, with thousands upon thousands walking about, chattering and bartering with each other.

Wang Yijun made his way past a few people playing some chess and walked up to a small stall, waiting behind three other people. The stall was a black pepper pork bun stall, quite well known for its delicious….. Pork buns.

A large iron stove sat in the middle of the stall, flames roaring as smoke rose into the air. Heat radiated through the air, the disciple in charge of the stall sweating as he worked.

After a few minutes, it was finally his turn, he walked up to the disciple, who greeted him smiling. The Pork Bun disciple, Jia Mu, was a stout guy, wearing a sleeveless white shirt, giant rippling muscles showing. "Wang Yujin! My friend! The usual five?"

"Nope. Got a new friend here…." Wang Yujin nodded his head to the Delinquent Cat, which was standing there in the heat, looking up at Jia Mu expectantly. "What do you want?" Yujin asked the Cat.

"Meow~ Meow~" The Delinquent Cat opened its paw pointing at the Pork Bun and showing two fingers.

Nodding, Yujin continued, listing his orders. "Eight pork buns, three beef buns."

Jia Mu immediately went to work, taking a wooden stick and an empty bamboo steamer, taking a few of them from the stove and flipping them expertly into the steamer, still piping hot.

Wang Yujin handed him some silver taels and left, with the steamer and the two Cats.

The results for the exam would come out the following day, with a feast taking place in honor of the disciples who had passed. It would be a nice occasion to just chill out for a while before the irritating future of staying within the inner sect. But he probably wouldn't be sought out as to the rest, he was just one random ordinary disciple.

Rounding a bend, Yujin washed his hands in a small clean stream, beckoning for the Cats to do the same. After washing up, Yujin tossed them a bun each. Both Pork. Taking one out for himself, he chowed down, his teeth breaking through the soft white bun and into the delicious savory meat filling. Chewing, they walked on, Wang Yujin knowing that he was a shoe-in to get into the Sect. One would just have to do on the higher side of average to get in.

He walked back to his adobe, which was farther north of the Market. On his shoulder, the normal Cat was stuffing its face with Pork Bun, crumbs trailing down its huge cheeks. The Delinquent Cat walked solemnly next to Wang Yijun, eating its Pork Bun as it narrowed its eyes for no reason. Maybe deep in thought?
