1 Chapter 1: Balikbayan

Luis, a Filipino-American college student, is visiting his grandfather in the Philippines when he discovers an old amulet in the attic. As he touches the amulet, he is suddenly transported to a strange world, surrounded by dense forests and unfamiliar creatures.

Confused and disoriented, Luis is soon greeted by a small tarsier named Tito, who explains to him that he has been transported to a realm inspired by the folklore and mythology of the Philippines.

Tito offers to guide Luis through this new world and help him find a way back home. Luis reluctantly agrees, realizing that he has no other choice.

Together, Luis and Tito begin their journey through the magical world of the Philippines, encountering various creatures and learning about the unique cultures and traditions of the different ethnic groups. As they journey deeper into the forest, Luis realizes that he has been granted incredible powers as a babaylan, a shamaness of the ancient Tagalog people.

With Tito by his side, Luis sets out to explore this new world and unravel the mysteries that await him.
