1 Emptiness

Jessica sat on their terrace, while in front of her was a cup of coffee on the table. Another morning of her life, she never slept again last night. When the sun rose, she decided to hang out on the terrace to comfort and calm herself. However, she was still like that, just stunned by the absence. Almost nothing else was running through her brain but things that just kept her awake.

"Hey! It's too early of the morning and you look dumbfounded there. What's the matter?" Razer uttered.

Jessica turned her head and looked at her housemate.

Razer got confused because she didn't bother to answer his question. He felt worried about her.

"Aren't you going to answer me?" Razer muttered and snapped his finger.

Jessica flinched "Sorry! Are you saying something?"

Razer raised his eyebrow. He already knew that his housemate was absent-minded again.

He just shrugged his head and turned around, but before he left, he said, "Get yourself together, you look like a missing child there."

"I'll be going now. Take care and clean the house please." He added, then took a step away.

Jessica came back to herself and got up to go inside the house. She even watched Razer exit the gate before she finally entered the house.

Her housemate caught up with her again in that situation. She felt a little embarrassed. Jessica knows she is always absent-minded, but how can she not be? Many things were running inside her head, and she couldn't help thinking about them.

She decided to clean the house as Razer told her. She starts washing the dirty dishes. Next are the living room, the bathroom, and her room. After she finished all the chores, she took a bath.

Jessica was just adopted by her Aunt Brenda then. Brenda migrated to the United States to handle her own company. She let Razer and Jessica live in the Philippines together.

The cloud starts to darken, and simultaneously, the series of thunder constantly makes noise outside.

In just a few minutes, the heaven rain started to pour down. You can feel the cold caused by heavy rain.

Her phone rang from the table next to her bed. She got up from the seat near the window. When Jessica looked at the caller's name, she immediately sighed. Her boss is calling again, maybe it's about her not coming to work today.

She answered the call, "Yes, hello Ma'am Jade." She calmly but lifelessly said.

"Miss Villamor, why are you absent today? You know that I need you for today's meeting, right?" said by the caller.

"I'm sorry ma'am, I am not feeling well today so I had to rest. I already send my leave letter to your secretary ma'am." She plainly said.

"Okay! I guess you are not really in a good condition, I can sense it from your voice though. Alright, have a good rest today." Mrs. Sanchez said.

"Thank you for your consideration, ma'am. "Jessica uttered.

"Alright, Goodbye Miss Villamor, I hope to see you very soon."

"Goodbye ma'am."

Jessica places her phone on the table after the call and decided to go to the kitchen and cooked something for her lunch.

It's evening, Razer goes to kitchen to cook some food. He want to eat something pleasant than to a cangoods again. He and Jessica eats this kind of dish mostly and he can't take it anymore.

Eating this kind of food make him feel like it's not healthy.

Razer put the pan into the stove and open it. He puts oil, then put the garlic, onion after the ingredients cooked. He puts mix vegetables and next a little bit water. He puts a bit salt let it cooked. Razer prepared their foods then call Jessica to eat together.

Jessica took a half bath, while in the bathroom she felt empty.

it's like nothing inside her mind or maybe she just feeling numbed.

Touching her arm and hugging herself while the water continue falling on her body, the cold water embracing her.

She sighed "How to be happy?" she asked herself out loud.

Then she heard Razer voice calling her name, she answered saying she's in the bathroom.

"Come down, we will going to eat." Razer uttered.

"Alright, I'll go down." she answered.

"Just come quickly okay, before the food gets cold." Razer said.

"I'll be there right away. " She said and then quickly finish bathing.

She found Razer siitting on the dining table so she joined him.

They eat silently, no one dare to talk. Only the sounds of spoons and forks banging to each other can be hear.
