-End Of Note

In order to avoid any more confrontations, Baki began jumping from tree to tree, trying to get as far as he could from the Squad 4 barracks. The pain coming from the broken rib continued to invade throughout his body. Baki's mind was racing; the thoughts of what he saw when he looked into the medical facility came flooding back to him. "Aizen.. is dead.." he muttered to himself, whilst keeping up the pace. Baki was perplexed. When he first met Aizen, he could immediately tell that he was an individual who was very calculated; he even invaded Baki's mind without him knowing. When Aizen had revealed his plan, the suspicion that Aizen was a sly individual that Baki had was confirmed. "Who could have done this to him? A man like that, I thought I'd have to kill him myself," Baki wondered. Although Baki was unsure as to how this occurred, the thought that Aizen was no longer around to meddle in the affairs of the Soul Society gave him peace. This peace he felt reminded him of Isane; she would no longer have to face the repercussions of Aizen's actions. After all, she is a soul reaper. A smile began to creep onto Baki's lips as he recalled his encounter with Isane. Her warmth, kindness, and humor were etched into his memory. Knowing she was now safe filled his heart with relief, dulling the pain he felt slightly.

His moment of reprieve was short-lived, however, as a battle ensuing in the distance caught his attention. Baki stopped jumping through trees and sat down on a branch, catching his breath, whilst also trying to observe what was going on in the distance. Peering through the leaves, he noticed it was Uryu and he was in a fierce battle against an odd-looking man in a Captain's robe. Baki sat back and took it easy; he was ready to interfere if things got dire, however. Uryu was dominating the battle, no question; the longer Baki watched, the more Uryu gained the upper hand. It was not a power of wits but one of sheer power, and Uryu was winning. Before long, Uryu blew a hole through the captain using an arrow that had immense power. "It's over," Baki thought. Wondering what was going to happen next, Baki's eyes widened in disbelief; the outcome he had never thought of was happening. The captain raised his sword and plunged it into his chest. Disdain dripped from Baki's lips as he said, "Unlike Sajin, this Captain is pitiful." Baki's emotions quickly changed as he watched the captain's form begin to dissolve into a grotesque mass of goo, splitting into multiple fragments. Before Baki could comprehend what was unfolding, he saw Uryu drop to one knee, faltering. "Poison!" Baki said, swiftly realizing the dire nature of the situation.

Without hesitation, Baki descended from his perch, fuming at the cowardly tactics used by the Captain. As he jumped down and ran towards Uryu, trying to figure out a way to help him, a woman who was lying on the floor near him began thanking Uryu. She then pulled out a small container claiming that it was an antidote that would cure him. Baki stood in front of the woman, preventing her from giving the supposed antidote to Uryu, and said, "Who are you? How can we even trust you?" The woman revealed to Baki she was the lieutenant of Squad 12. As Baki was about to interrogate her some more, Uryu pushed him to the side and used the antidote. "Why would you trust a soul reaper?" Baki questioned. Uryu, who was now already looking better, said, "We don't have much time, we need to save Rukia." Baki dropped the topic; Uryu was now looking fine and they didn't have much time to argue either. "Alright let's get going then," Baki said, walking towards the staircase that would get them closer to the prison. Uryu followed along.

Upon reaching the top, they were met with a familiar face. A dark-skinned man wearing a blindfold, otherwise known as Tosen. "Damn it, it's another one," Uryu complained. Baki winced; the thought of another confrontation made him recall the pain. "You flies are everywhere!" Baki yelled at Tosen. Tosen didn't react to Baki's comment; instead, he placed his hand on the hilt of his sword and said, "Cry, Suzumushi." A piercing sound erupted; Baki began to lose his balance. He looked over to see how Uryu was doing and noticed that he was knocked out. Baki fell onto one knee, not being able to stand back up. "That's an interesting ability you have," Baki said. Tosen replied, "That's a surprise, you were able to withstand my abilities." Tosen began walking towards Baki, "Somehow you were able to defeat Sajin, a friend of mine. It is time for you to face justice," Tosen said in a calm manner. Baki remained helpless on his knees, still not being able to move. Baki's lip was now dripping with blood; he had bitten it out of anger, there wasn't anything else he could do. He was trying his best to think of a strategy to defeat Tosen, but nothing was coming to mind. As he scrambled for ideas, one thought surfaced in his mind. Earlier with the cannon, he was able to make a cannonball with energy from his imagination and also when he was facing Sajin, his imagination came to life. "Could this work…" Baki pondered.
