Chris

My paternal grandmother took her hands off of my ears and turned to look at everyone in the room.

"Don't you all feel ashamed of yourselves?!! Why are you pushing the blame onto someone else just because you can't handle something? Fine then, since all of you cannot handle the responsibility of taking care of this child then let this old woman do it." she glared at everyone in the room.

The people in the room looked at each other and could only bring their heads down in shame. They had no way of refuting her words.

I was amazed at what she did. I turned and looked at everyone in the room, then at her. She only smiled at me. This smile gave me a warm feeling in my heart, the exact warm feeling I felt when my father smiled at me. I still felt the heart-wrenching pain, however, it was very faint as the warmness in my grandmother's smile and actions overcame the pain I felt. I smiled back at her. She held her hand out while I grabbed it, using it as leverage to help me stand. My legs no longer felt numb and I felt a little better. She took me away from this cold place and to a place, I'll always remember as home.

-------------------------------------------------

When I got to the house, the first words that popped up into my head were 'beautiful'. Yes, those were the words to describe what I was feeling. The house was beautiful and even felt magical. I've never lived in such a warm house before. The wallpaper was a light yellow and there were flowers almost everywhere. The house was like a garden. A mighty one at that. I explored the house until I got tired and fell asleep. I felt a pair of hands holding me again, however, these hands weren't strong at all, but rather frail and weak. It must have been hard on her.

When I woke up, I was in an unfamiliar room. The room was very cute with teddy bears everywhere, almost as if this room was meant for me. I got out of the warm blankets and opened the door. I walked to the kitchen where I found my grandmother placing her head down on the table. I didn't know why but seeing this made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't want to wake her up because I felt that if I did, she wouldn't wake up like my father. This scared me very much, so much that tears just naturally started falling down my face. I felt like I needed to leave before a tragedy hits again. I quickly ran out the door. I didn't even know where I was going and just kept running until I got tired and stopped.

Little did I know that right when I left, my grandmother woke up.

-------------------------------------------------

"Hmm..... what was that sound just now?"

Grandma walked and found the door wide open. She then ran as fast as she could towards Macy's bedroom, only to find that she was gone and nowhere to be found. She didn't know what to do. She quickly grabbed the telephone and called 9-1-1. After explaining everything, they said that they couldn't do anything unless she was gone for at least 24 hours. This greatly angered Grandma. How could she know how long Macy was gone for? She placed the telephone down and grabbed her coat. It seemed like she could only rely on herself and see if any of her neighbors could help her find Macy.

After walking for a while, I found a nearby park. It seemed like no one was there but I was very tired and needed a place to rest. I sat down on the bench and contemplated everything that has happened. They say that it is cowardly to run away from something but sometimes that is the best choice to take. I looked at the sky, only to find the sun slowly setting and disappearing until all its warmth is gone.

"What are you doing?" said a young and immature voice.

I turned my head to see a small boy around my age with short, spiky black hair and hazel eyes that were very mesmerizing to the point where it could even entrap one's soul. The boy was very cute and I felt that when he grew up, he would definitely be very handsome. I continued to stare at him for a while, not even realizing what I was doing.

"Are you done looking or are you going to just stare at me all day?" he said, very impatiently.

My face burned up as I immediately stopped staring at him.

"Haha.... you look quite cute when you do that." he said shamefully without any hint of embarrassment.

This caused me to blush even more. Did this kid enjoy watching me become embarrassed? What an unruly kid?

"Well, you still haven't answered my question, what are you doing?" he asked again very annoyed now.

I glared at him but retracted the deathly stare I gave him as I knew that if he left, I would be all alone.

"I don't know. I don't even know where I am, I think I got lost." I replied truthfully.

"Really, what's your name?" he asked.

"Macy. Macy Mueller." I replied confidently since I very much so like my name.

"Great! You must be the girl Grandma Zou was looking for."

As soon as I heard the word 'grandma', all I saw was the picture of my grandmother with her head down on the table, never to be woken up again. This scared me very much, so much to the point where I started trembling.

The boy somehow noticed what was going on and asked, "Hey, what's wrong, are you okay?"

Somehow, I couldn't hear him anymore, all I saw was my father as well as my grandmother, no longer with me. This caused me to slowly lose my vision. Why was this happening to me, why am I hurting so much? Someone, please make it stop.

Just then, I felt a warm embrace around me and I looked up, my blurry vision getting better. I saw the boy looking down at me with a concerned look.

"Hey, don't scare me. Are you okay?"

I felt like there was a lump in my throat and I could no longer speak. I felt tears rushing out and couldn't stop them as they poured all over the little boy's chest. Even though his chest was small, it felt like a mountain right now.

I tried forcing out words the best that I could, "S...s...sc...scare...scared...ed..."

He only hugged me tighter after hearing what I said, making me feel as if I was safe. I continued to cry and drenched his shirt with my tears. When I felt better, it was already dark and the warmth of the sun was no more. But I no longer felt scared, even though I was surrounded by the darkness of the night. I felt safe around this little boy for some reason. I looked up at him and smiled. After seeing my smile, I felt as if he was blushing. This was very cute and made me laugh.

"hehe..."

"Hey, why are you laughing?"

"Because you're very cute."

This only caused the little boy to blush even more. He then let go of me and kept a distance between us. I was a little sad but I guess this is how little kids are supposed to act. I was about to say something when I saw him hold his hand out. Did he want me to hold his hand? This made me have a warm feeling in my heart, completely forgetting about my previous fears. I grabbed his hand happily, which only caused him to blush even more. Hehe, this little boy was definitely cute.

"Chris."

"What?"

"Chris is my name. Call me Chris," he said smiling warmly.

"Okay." I smiled back.

"Now, let's go home."

We both walked hand in hand together on a dark night.
