Chapter 33

Diane POV

I have to admit that, staying these last couple of weeks with George has not been as horrible as I thought it would be.

Don't get me wrong George is still an overgrown child.

Honestly, if he was 4ft he could pass as one of my kids. He certainly fit in perfectly with the boys. It was actually hilarious to see how well he got along with the boys. One time, they had sneaked into the kitchen, stole two pies and proceeded to wreck the third. Of course, they all covered for each other and feigned ignorance. It was pretty cute especially when they went to bed for the next four days without any dessert. I am the boss.

The media were still letting up on me. Though some nice things have been said about me. I think that it helped that George and a few of my close celebrity friends came to my rescue. Some activists were even using me as a prime example of women being empowered. Had I been a man, I am pretty sure that the chances of people accusing me of sleeping my way to the top would have been greatly reduced. I have still been working from George's office, the paparazzi were still packed at my place and Tina was still working to get them permanently banned throughout the block. Meanwhile, Blair and Delores come here every other day to go over business and I still work with Catya at her own private studio instead of mine. Some social media were calling me a coward for hiding out and not acing my problems.

Like today, I am editing some of the videos that were shot for her music video. It was coming along pretty well. I was halfway done when I heard the door slamming and voices raised. One was definitely George and the other I could not recognize, it was coming from the foyer. Getting up from my seat, I opened the door a crack and could hear George yelling stuff like

"I don't get it. What the heck is her problem?" he bellowed.

"come on George be reasonable it won't look good for your image if you're not going" a smaller and quitter spoke.

I slowly made my way from the door and walked barefoot to the living room where all the yelling was coming from.

It was George and I am pretty sure that was his publicist.

I stood back quietly and listened to all that they were saying. It was quite an altercation with George getting madder every second.

"George, please listen to me-"

"I think I am done listening to you. I let you talk me into getting her a house with a driver, cars and a couple of maids.

Now look where that has gotten me" he growled at him.

"Okay fine, I claim responsibility for that. But the media was getting closer to the truth"

"Fine. But you have to get that I don't care what the media thinks" he growled.

"George, please I am begging you. The media is already all over this. As we speak, they are already at the hospital" she tried to explain.

"Well take this as tough love"

"George please"

"I said no

" George"

I saw that this conversation was going nowhere. It was time to intervene. I decided to let my presence known cause George getting more and more irritated. And an irritated George was not a good thing. I cleared my throat and two pair of eyes were on me.

"Hi Diane" Yandi greeted tiredly.

"Hello Yandi" I greeted her back climbing down the stairs.

"Yandi thank you very much but if you don't mind I will take it from here" I said politely.

"Uhmm. Do you know what is going on?" she asked hesitantly.

"Don't worry about it. I will make sure that George will call you later"

She picked up her bag and headed out. Saying her goodbyes which George ignored.

looked at George who was pacing around the room

"I should fire that woman" he growled.

"Now don't do anything rash" | chastised before leaving the kitchen to get him a glass of cold juice.

"Here" giving it to him and taking a seat next to him.

"I need something stronger" gulping the drink down.

"It is much too early for that" I chastised.

"Now what is going?" taking the glass from him as soon as he was done.

"What is not going on?"

"Speak in clear and understandable English please"

He sighed "My sister is in the hospital"

"Why?" I asked calmly.

"Overdose" he said simply.

"I see" this had happened before.

"And why is Yandi here?"

"To do her job apparently; doing what is best for my image.

Because, the media has gotten hold of the story and they are camped out of the hospital" he grumbled.

"Then why are you here instead of at the hospital?"

"Because I already know what is going to happen in that hospital room. You know how many times in the last two years that I have had to drop everything and go and babysit the brat?" he asked angrily.

I remained quiet. I was very much aware of George's issue with his family. Somebody needed to take a hand to the young girl's behind. But I remained quiet. Now was not the time.

"Ten times. She will go partying and drinking and doing drugs and wind up in the hospital for overdosing. She will cry and plead and say she will change. Then off she goes to an $800,000 rehab that I have to pay for. Why, because, Princess Emily demands to go to the finest and most expensive rehab in the entire world"

I still remained quiet.

"I am tired, D . I am so tired of Emily's irresponsible behavior. I am sick of everybody always running to Emily's beck and call. It is time that she learns responsibility. She spends money as if she is drinking water"

"I agree. But now is not the time to punish her. Did you speak to the doctor?"

"No"

"Why?"

"I just found out an hour and a half ago"

"Okay. You are going to get up from that chair and you are going to that hospital now"

"Honestly, l'm so tired and exhausted and don't have the energy to face my parents"

"Your parents are irrelevant in this matter. Only your sister"

"Diane, it is going to be a good show. My mother is going to cry and scream at me for not taking proper care of her and blame me for Emily being in that hospital bed" rubbing his face in stress.

"Okay enough. First things first, you are going to the hospital not for the media, not for your fans, and not for your parents.

But for your sister. Only for your sister. Then tomorrow we will put our heads together and think what to do about your loving and sweet-sweet sister"

"Fine"

"Okay. Give me five minutes to change" getting up from my seat and making my way to the stairs.

"What"

"I am going with you"

"No. I don't think that's a good idea"

"I am going with you, end of story. I am not scared of the paparazzi. Besides somebody needs to keep you calm. Five minutes" I called over my shoulder.

Ten minutes later, we were cruising down the streets heading to the hospital. George was gripping the steering wheel like his life depended on it. I didn't know what to say so instead I settled for silence. It was sad to see George so sad and quiet. I missed his loud and teasing voice.

We got to the hospital but had to go to the back entrance. I could already see the vultures ready to pick their meals.

Stepping out I walked side by side with George to the hospital.

Going up to a nurse, I asked for the room and doctor of Emily Sinclair. She politely told me and George and I walked to the room 223. The nurse who I did not get her name, said she will send the doctor who was treating her up very soon.

"Mr. Sinclair I am Dr. Gideon Oakes. I am the one treating Emily Sinclair"

"Hello. How is my sister?"

"Honestly she was lucky, she over dosed but we were able to get all the drugs out of her system. Her friends brought her in on time"

I could hear George's breath hitch. He was clutching his fists in anger.

"When will she be able to be discharged?" I asked the doctor.

"Actually she can be discharged by tomorrow. We just have to keep her overnight to make sure there is no more complications.

"Thank you doctor"

"Yes thank you" Then he left.

"What do you want to do now?" I asked him.

"I don't know" he sighed. Taking a seat in the chair.

Then we heard some commotion coming from the door. Who was raising their voices in a hospital? The door opened and two people were standing in the doorway.

"George"

"Mom. Dad" he greeted stiffly.

"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair" | greeted politely.

"Hello Diane"

"Oh my poor baby" Rushing to her daughters bedside.

"My poor, poor baby" she kept on saying whilst stroking her daughter's head. His father was just silent looking at his daughter.

Then George just stalked out of the room. Grabbing my purse, I gave them a tight smile and ran to catch up with him.

I saw he was at the end of the hallway.

"You ready to leave?" he asked tightly. I just nodded my head.

"Mr. Sinclair?" a woman stopped us when we were at the end of the hallway.

"Yes?" looking at her

"I am Freda Ceyt, from Child Protective Services" she introduced herself.

"Yes. I am George Sinclair and this is Diane. What can we do for you" looking at her confused

"I am here about your niece, Fifa Sinclair"

"Excuse me who?"

"Your niece"

"I don't have a niece"

"Actually you do. Your sister's daughter. She was born on April 16, 2014. We had a call that a young girl was left at home all alone. Upon breaking into the house we found a young girl in unsuitable conditions"
