Amanda thought she was born this way, to be betrayed, and end up like a fool who doesn't know what it is to live like a powerful person. Chapter 76
"I'm not." Chase answered flatly,
"I like her even if she belongs to the Wiles. Poor girl, she suffered years." Katherine said pitifully,
"She is a sympathetic person. The time I met her years before, she made my heart flutter for the first time. I don't know how and why."
"It's very rare for soneone to make your world collide in first sight. My father told me, if I ever met that person, I'd cherish him."
"Then you met dad?" Chase looked at her woeful.
Katherine dropped her gaze.
"Not really." She exhaled,
"What do you mean?" He asked,
"Sometimes, choices don't take you to a happy ever after. I met the man who made my heart flutter. I love him... but he is not mine." Katherine faltered,
"What happened?" Chase asked.
For he had never heard anything about his mother's story in his past life.
They've been separated by fate in his past.
"You see, sometimes our choices denies the things that were meant to be our fate. But I don't believe that the day we set foot in this world our lives are already written. Sometimes I would think what it would be like if I chose him other than your father. I love him purely and I don't know why. I let him go for good even though it hurts."
"So you love him more than dad?"
"I don't know. Cillian saved me from the truth I realized. That's when I learned to love him truly and never let him go. Life can be cruel, sometimes. As Cillian helped me fix my broken heart, I became selfish to keep him with me always. That choice led me to this and I never regretted it."
"Do we always have to be selfish? What if she wishes to be free?"
"Being selfish is a choice, not a survival instinct. If you want to save her, you let her go. But if you love her, you will never let her go."
"Amanda is not someone to be kept. She is more than a doll."
"If you love her right, she will stay."
"But what if she doesn't love me?"
"You said she is more than a doll. If she doesn't love you, she won't accept you in the first place."
"There's a difference. She thinks of me as a friend, she loved me like a normal girlfriend would. If she gets bored, she'll leave me."
"She loved you didn't she? All you have to do is cherish that."
"What if she leaves me?"
"If she does, then there's nothing you can do. People change."
His thoughts were mixing.
"Don't think too much of the unpredictable future. There's no one who can control it from happening. All you can do is make use of every moment while you're still together." Katherine assured.
