Chapter 42

"Because even his parents can't even handle it. It's still bankrupt even now." Amanda chuckled,

"I can't believe I'm going to be engaged to him," Shannon grumbled.

"Eh? I thought you liked him." Amanda glanced at her, surprised.

"No, I don't. My mom forced me to."

"Oh."

Shannon didn't say anything.

She was shocked.

Sabrina's plan was to get her engaged to Edmund so she can also have their wealth.

She said it was two birds with one stone.

But to think she'd only thrown a rock without hitting anything but the ground.

Shannon wanted to laugh.

'Good thing she'd shown her true colors to me early.'

'Too bad.'

Shannon was happy with her decision.

She is sticking with Amanda.

She noticed that instead of going home.

They were in the opposite of home.

"I told you, I haven't welcomed you clearly in the family." Amanda smiled,

"I'm repaying it."

"Where are we going?" Shannon asked, her heart starting to pound.

"Shopping, of course," Amanda said cheerfully.

"But I don't have money," Shannon replied.

"No worries. I'll handle it. Didn't I say I'm repaying?" Amanda grinned.

Shannon relaxed.

She smiled gratefully.

Amanda wasn't that bad after all.

She started seeing Amanda in a different light.

They stopped at one of the largest malls in the city.

"Wow! I've never been here before." Shannon gasped,

"Well, I thought dad took you out for a walk." Amanda looked at her.

"No. He's always busy. But he does bring me gifts."

"That's good." Amanda held out her hand,

"Come. Sis." She smiled.

Shannon realized it was the first time Amanda called her sister.

She happily took her hand.

They went to a clothes store.

"It's still 2:30 pm." Amanda checked her watch.

"That means we had a lot of time?" Shannon asked excitedly,

"Yes. Father will be back at 9 or 10. He said he and Sabrina will be out for a while." Amanda replied.

"Yay!" Shannon squealed with excitement.

"But don't tell them about this okay? Keep it a secret." Amanda warned,

"I won't tell a thing," Shannon promised.

'So this is like having an elder sister.'

Shannon smiled.

For some reason, she now liked Amanda.

She wrapped her arms around Amanda's.

"What's wrong?" Amanda asked.

"Nothing. I just wanna hold you." Shannon smiled.

"I didn't know you were clingy." Amanda shrugged,

"And I didn't know you were so sweet sister." Shannon teased.
