Chapter 40

- Amanda

"Mandy! What?" Heather exclaimed.

"Are you even serious?!"

"Yes. I am." Amanda replied grinning.

"Shannon, is innocent. Besides, didn't you know how pitiful she is? To be dragged into a big mess."

Amanda recently found out Shannon's story.

She bunked school-with an excuse-to visit the orphanage Shannon used to live.

"She needs help." Amanda insisted.

Heather sighed.

Aurora laughed.

"But, I'm just going to get her to separate from the two main characters." Amanda veered the wheel to the left.

She and Heather had helped Amanda bunk out of school.

She knew she couldn't change Amanda's mind.

After pulling up, Amanda walked inside the school campus.

She sighed.

The whole school was staring at her.

Everyone whispered as she walked past.

No sooner, she spotted Shannon down the hallway.

She went over and tapped her shoulder.

"Hey."

To her surprise, Shannon hugged her tightly.

"Whoa. What-"

"Sorry." Shannon looked down.

"It's fine. You good?"

"Yeah." Shannon nodded.

"Good." Amanda patted her head.

Shannon felt comfortable with her.

Despite her being all smug and selfish.

It was all Sabrina's fault!

'She can't control my life.' Shannon thought firmly.

If she wanted to take Sabrina down,

Amanda is the best ally to take.

'But still. If I want to be on her good side. I should take it slowly and carefully.'

'I don't wanna end up being on her bad side'

"Look who we have here." Victoria clapped her hands mockingly.

"Good day. Ms. Emerson." Amanda smiled.

Victoria seemed surprised to see Amanda.

Instead of mocking back, or argue, Victoria exhaled.

"Good day Ms. Amanda." Victoria murmured and left.

Shannon stared in shock.

'So Amanda really is way more than I expected.'

'Mom-No. Sabrina is wrong about her.'

- Sabrina (way back)

"Mom, are you sure that Amanda is like that?" Shannon asked,

"Of course. Simeon described her that." Sabrina poured wine.

"But what if he was wrong?" Shannon suspected,

"No. That naïve man was trustworthy." Sabrina sipped her wine.

"If that's so, why am I involved here? You could just handle her easily."

"You've got it wrong brat. Do you really think handling one powerful person is easy?"

"But you said she's a weakling?"

"Yes. But her grandfather is the problem."

Shannon decided to change the subject.

"So what happens if your plan succeeds?" She asked,

"That's easy. I'll be rich, I'll dump Simeon, and you ca go back to that cheap orphanage."

Her words stabbed Shannon.

"What?! You're just gonna leave me?" Shannon shrieked,

"Of course. I don't need you then anymore. But don't worry, I'll handle your expenses."

"You said you'll take me back. I thought we'll be family. Even if it's just you and me."

Sabrina looked at her and smirked.

"Like father, like daughter. Both are so naïve. How pitiful." Sabrina sneered,

"You-I'll tell father about this."

"Oh no, you don't. Can't you see Simeon's already under my spell?" Sabrina laughed.

"I'll tell you a little secret. Simeon wants a son, not a daughter. He just plays along with me so you won't feel discouraged." Sabrina sneered.

'What a total witch. Is she even human?'

Shannon stormed off.
