Amanda thought she was born this way, to be betrayed, and end up like a fool who doesn't know what it is to live like a powerful person. She only dreamed of living a simple life with Edmund, her fiancée. However, she didn't expect to be betrayed by someone she'd loved. She's lost everything but the precious ring her mother had given her. Knowing she couldn't let them have their way, she swallowed the ring before plunging to her death. However, she didn't expect to wake up in her room after her death. As she continues, she will be facing the same plot of her life. However, she will change it into a brand new life. But, as she goes on turning the tables. She will be encountering unexpected events that will make her change.
Chapter 11
Everyone looked at Vidia as she entered.
"Isn't she the daughter of the Contraire family?" one guest whispered,
"Yeah, her father is the owner of Sigma Design Co." the other guest whispered back
Everyone couldn't believe their eyes as they watched Vidia.
Sabrina then hurried to greet her,
"Welcome, Ms. Contraire. I'm glad you accepted the invitation." Sabrina greeted as she guided Vidia along the way.
"Thank you, ma'am" Vidia nodded politely
Sabrina noticed the gift Vidia was holding and said,
"You can put the gift for Shannon there,"
"Sure, thank you, ma'am" Vidia smiled.
"Oh, cut the formalities. You can call me Aunty." Sabrina said warmly
"No, thank you, ma'am," Vidia said as she pulled out another paper bag, smaller than the one she was holding.
"Is that all?" Sabrina asked,
'If I can get her to my side, it'll be great,' Sabrina thought inside.
'Don't worry Mandy. I'll give you a show.' Vidia looked at Sabrina and smiled,
"Yes." Then she turned and walked away.
As one of the most influential people, Vidia knows proper etiquette and knows how to control her emotions.
"I wonder for whom that gift Ms. Contraire was holding?" one of the guests mused.
After a few moments, the banquet finally started.
The lights turned off, leaving one light that spotted the door.
The door opened.
Everyone hold their breaths as they saw Shannon walking slowly down the stairs as slow music played.
Edmund couldn't take his eyes off her as he watched her coming down.
She was like a princess that came out from a secret door.
Edmund blushed as she winked at him.
Everyone looked at him jealously.
All except for Vidia, who hid in the crowd looking at Shannon with hate.
All the men rushed to Shannon asking her out and complimenting her.
Shannon answered all of their questions and walked to Edmund.
"How do I look?" Shannon asked flirtingly
"Hot" Edmund replied out of blue.
Everyone looked at him in shock.
"Isn't he engaged to Ms. Amanda?" one of the guests whispered.
The crowd was full of whispers.
"It's just a compliment everyone," Vidia said
That made them silent and went back to each other's conversation
Shannon walked up to her and thanked her.
"It's nothing," Vidia smiled,
"Ms. Contraire, it's good to have you here. You made the banquet unforgettable." Shannon fawned,
Vidia nodded as thanks.
"Shannon, you're so polite." Sabrina walked in to join them
Sabrina made eye contact with Shannon.
Shannon gave a slight nod to know she understand.
Sabrina had wanted Shannon to make friends with Vidia by fawning over her.
"You look more breathtaking in that dress, Ms. Contraire. It's way more beautiful than mine." Shannon gasped,
Vidia just nodded.
After a while, Vidia made an excuse to go to the bathroom.
