Back in time- Altered history

"Time is a storm in which we are all lost."- William Carlos Willaims

------------------------------------------

Wen Bell lay in a pile of snow trying to make out what the hell had happened. What was she doing last? Yes, she was in the office, making a draft...then her Boss had asked her to go home...she tried to recollect whether she had saved the document or not..why couldn't she remember? Her head throbbed and there was a song playing on repeat in her brain.

"....Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale they say,

He was made of snow but the children know,

How he came to life one day..."

Oh yes! She remembered now....Her grandpa's present! The radio....

Where the hell was she?....She sat up and looked around her. Heaps of snow everywhere and a winding road not very far away, she should walk there. But how did she land here anyway? She searched her coat for her mobile phone..wait, why was she in her home sweater?

A truck came down the road but seeing that the road was blocked it turned to go back. Wen Bell went over and asked for a lift.

"Hold on miss, where did you say you live again?"asked the truck driver.

"At the Reever Ross building, RJV road."said she.

"The whole area is in chaos, general Tyson was killed, they are even arresting people walking on the streets lass!"

"Who?"

"General Tyson!"

"Who is that?"

"I take that you are from the countryside and not from the west coast like you claim, but you should read the newspapers during these turbulent times missy! Like even beggars know who general Tyson is, he doesn't even leave their pennies behind!"

Wen Bell followed the news regularly and she knew of no general Tyson or whoever. But she knew the general Tyson from history.

"You are not talking about the general Tyson who bombed the Pst district in year 19xx are you?"she asked suspiciously.

"That's the one!" said the truck driver."So you should go back wherever you came from, I'm not taking you to town."

Wen Bell watched the truck driver start his vehicle and leaving. Will he be alright on his own? With his Alzheimers and all?

She waited few more minutes before another car came by. That was one fancy old-fashioned car! Who in their right minds would flaunt their fancy car in this weather? Wen Bell put her thumb up and asked for a lift.

The people in it were dressed weird, as if for a fancy dress...a dress party?

"We are fleeing the west coast for good! But who knew the roads were blocked?" said the man at the wheel once she had gotten inside. "I'll drop you in town miss, but it is not safe, general Tyson was assassinated," he said starting the car.

"Stop the car," said Bell. That's two people with Alzheimer's in a row...and all coming down this one road!

"Hmm?" the guy stopped the car.

"General was killed years ago! Which year do you think it is?"

"19xx," said the driver innocently.

Bell turned to look at the passengers."Excuse me, but it's not safe to hire such a patient as your driver."

"What are you talking about miss? It's all over the newspapers." Said a lady seated in the back. She pushed a newspaper towards her and Bell stared into it wide-eyed.

The dates were all wrong...no way! She had seen such scenarios in movies....She didn't travel back in time or something did she?

"You are incredibly rude miss!"The driver left her behind and drove away and she was left standing with the newspaper by the road side.

This must be a prank, this can't be real....she was thinking these things while brushing through the newspaper when she suddenly heard gun shots in the air.

She saw a car speed past her and a military vehicle giving it chase, she hid behind a boulder and watched as the vehicles stopped at the blocked road. The driver of the car must have been insane for the very next moment he drove his car backward letting it collide with the military vehicle.

Bell heard someone shouting behind her at a distance, "Leon Wen no!"

Leon Wen? That was her grandpa's name. If she really traveled back in time and if it was because of her grandpa's present, then it made sense that she would meet him here! But right now she did not have much time to think.

The guy Leon Wen was sprawled on the ground and the soldier was aiming at his head. But just before the soldier could shoot Wen Bell thrust a rock at his head and the soldier was knocked down in an instant.

"You dare aim a gun at my grandpa!" said Bell clutching the rock, glaring at the knocked down soldier, and panting hard.
