CHAPTER ONE

"But Paige you promised to go with me."

Amy complained as she followed Paige to her office.

"I have changed my mind."

Paige said dropping her bag on the table and walked round the table to sit on the office chair. Amy looked at her and sat opposite her.

"Why do you always do this?"

She asked while picking a file on Paige's table and flipping through it.

"I can't go Amy…you know I have a big meeting that day and father wants to see me that day."

She said snatching the file from Amy and starting to go through it.

"Since you took over your father's businesses you no longer hung up with me."

Amy pouted leaning back on the chair she was sited on.

"Don't be a big baby Amy…you know very well I always make time for you any time I get."

Amy looked up as Paige looked over the files one by one.

"Like you did when your mother was sick?"

She said more in a whisper.

"I heard you Amy."

Paige said without looking up. She signed the page after looking through the files.

"You can leave now Amy if you don't have any other thing to say."

Paige said without looking up. Amy looked at her. This wasn't something new to hear. But every time she said it Amy heart got broken. Ever since Paige's mother died, Paige had become heartless that she had lost all her friends. Amy tried her best to change her but she didn't seem to get to her dark heart.

"See you around Paige."

She said looking around.

"Close the door as you leave."

Paige said just glancing to see if Amy had done as she had said.

After Amy had left, Paige dropped the file she was signing and lay on her chair swinging it side to side. A single tear flowed down her cheek and she quickly wiped it when she had the door being knocked.

"Come in."

She shouted after she composed herself, making sure she looked presentable. The door pushed open presenting a young woman almost the age of Paige.

"The meeting is in five minutes."

She said glancing at her.

"I am coming."

She said and the door was locked again before she could utter another word. She took a deep breath and looked up.

"You got this Paige, I know you do."

She cheered herself before standing and walking out.

"Follow me."

She said once she was a few feet away from her door which was labeled CEO's office. The lady, who happened to be her secretary quickly stood up and followed her.

"I hope you have every detail I asked from you yesterday."

"Yes ma'am."

She said as she held the files she was caring closer to her chest.

"And the contract we were to sign with Abamfame Traders?"

She asked not walking any slower.

"I have already drafted it."

She answered calmly.

"Thanks Poly, I don't know what I would do without you."

She said walking in the conference room.
