Chapter 29: Are you gay?
Just then, an irritatingly nasally voice spoke up loudly, "Brother Wang, I'm hungry."
A male's voice softly rang out, "Tell me what you want to eat Ying'er. Brother will buy it for you."
"I want those fruits!" A girl in her teens, with beautiful ebony hair, but a normal-looking face spoke arrogantly to a boy older than her.
The boy was extremely handsome, making the girls there whisper and giggle.
Wang Wei was speechless. The fruits his sister was talking about were magical ones, meant for increasing mana. They were of no use to his sister, who had already crossed the level of using these fruits to increase her mana.
"Ying'er, they're fruits meant for mana production. They can't be wasted like that." He tried to explain but Wang Ying stomped her foot in reply.
"No! I want to eat them! If you don't buy me those fruits, I won't eat anything for three days." The girl puffed out her cheeks.
Wang Wei sighed. "Alright."
Turning to the shopkeeper, he asked "How much for the whole lot?"
The shopkeeper replied, shaking his head, "I'm sorry, I just sold these fruits."
"Brother!" Wang Ying whined.
Wang Wei scratched his neck, embarrassed and asked, "To whom did you sell it to?"
The shopkeeper was silent, not wanting Kanae to be in trouble.
Seeing his dilemma, Kanae said coldly from the side, "It was me."
"Ah? I'm sorry Young man, but do you mind selling it to us? My sister here is hungry." Wang Wei said in a daze. He was stunned by Kanae's looks.
Wang Ying remained unperturbed by Kanae's appearance. She already had a person she cared about. Even though she admitted Lan's looks were good, she didn't want to betray her heart.
"I refuse." She said coldly and turned around to leave.
"Huh? Wait!" Wang Ying screeched.
Wang Wei immediately caught Kanae's hand, surprised by its softness. Cold blue eyes glared at him, making him drop her hand. His step faltered.
"What? Are you gay? You took a fancy to me? Huh?"
Wei's face flushed immediately.
"What nonsense!"
"My brother is no such person. We just need those fruits. Here." Wang Ying said haughtily, and dropped a bag of coins near Kanae's feet.
Kanae stayed still, not picking up the bag.
"What are you waiting for? A beggar like you should be grateful I even bother to pay you this much. It'll suffice you for your entire lifetime." She sneered, sticking her nose in the air. From Kanae' s clothes, it didn't seem like she belonged to a well-off family.
Wang Wei's brows furrowed. He knew his sister had gone too far this time.
A murderous aura burst out of Kanae and her light blue eyes darkened, making chills run down Wang Ying's body.
"Brother!" She screamed and hid behind Wang Wei.
"Beggar? I'll cut off your tongue if you dare say that again. Eating these just because you're hungry, aren't you flying too high? What are you so proud of? Was any of this money earned by you? Leeching off your family's money, do you have any pride? Sure, a rich family is part of a person's good luck, but without a good attitude, you'll just be labeled as a snob. You have no right to call anyone a beggar, when you yourself have an attitude worse than a beggar's." Kanae spat out. Her previously sarcastic self had disappeared and in its place was a vicious personality.
Wang Ying clutched her hands tightly and flew towards Kanae in a rage, Wang Wei rushing after her, to stop her.
"You bas-" Ying screamed.
"Who dares to attack my friend?!" A familiar voice rang out in the crowd. Ed's face popped up, Miao standing behind him with a pale face.
"Isn't that the Steele family's child?"
Whispers ran in the crowd.
"We shouldn't offend the family. Let's go."
Wang Ying's body grew cold. This was the heir to the Steele family, Ed Steele. If he was this person's friend, then they were doomed.
He hurriedly grasped his sister's hand, hushing her and took off.
Kanae was shocked.
'How rude!! I still had a lot more left to say. Hmph!'
"Honorable Miss, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Let's just have something to eat."
They both nodded and started walking with her.
A few hours and a dozen plates of food later:
"By the way, you never told me how someone's power is measured." Kanae asked curiously. Strangely enough, her thoughts drifted to the man who had been appearing in her simulations repeatedly. Her eyes glowed slightly as she remembered his handsome face, stunning smile, his mesmerizing eyes and pink lips-
*Bam*
Kanae walked right into a tree. Her nose burned. She rubbed it, thinking 'What's wrong with me? Why am I thinking about his appearance? Eh, looks like I'm still straight. Thank god for that.'
Ed looked back and smiled when he saw Kanae run into a tree. 'Hah! This is what you get for spending all my money on food! This is what I call-'
*Splotch*
Ed stepped on a pile of poop.
'-karma.'
Seeing this, Kanae snorted but became quiet when she saw Ed's furious gaze.
"I'll go change my shoes. You wait here." Ed said, shivering in disgust.
Kanae nodded, her face back to normal.
Only when Ed had left with Miao, did she start roaming around. The place where they had brought her was a village, which wasn't huge, but was spacious enough to fit around 200 houses.
Somehow, Kanae ended up in a lonely area. She sighed, but walked around, trying to find her way back. Just then, she heard some voices.
Curious, she looked and saw a drunk man holding a girl of seven years by her hand. The man said while swaying, "Hey, l-little girl. You're prettyyy. Mind accompanying this handsome m-man?"
The little girl made a disgusted face.
Kanae sighed internally. Looks like she would have to save the girl. She was no saint, but she couldn't bear to see a little girl lose her innocence.
But when she went to beat the man up, the little girl's hands shone and the man fell to the ground with a groan.
"Disgusting!" She said loudly, dusting her hand.
"....."
Eh? Even this little girl was more powerful than her? It looked like the man had some magic shield equipped…
Kanae's confidence went down a level or so.
The little girl turned around and saw Kanae staring at her. "What? You want to touch my cute body too? There's now way I'll let you!" She shouted at her, before flipping her hair proudly.
"...."
'I never said anything.'
Soon,a man's shout filled the area "Mistress! Where are you? Please come back! Mistress! Mistress!"
The little girl panicked and stuck to the wall. "You cannot see me,you cannot see me. I'm invisible."
"..... I can clearly see you." Kanae said.
"Mistress! There you are!" A man in his thirties came running towards the little girl. "Master was so worried. Mistress, you can't run off like that again!"
He gave Kanae a glance and asked,"Who's this?"
The little girl stayed silent before her face lit up and she jumped on Kanae saying "He's my lover! I plan to marry only him and no one else!"
'.... How come I didn't know I had a lover??!' Kanae rubbed her forehead.
