Contract

I woke up feeling great. I had not woken up this well ever, not in this life or last life, why? Because two things would happen, that I had been waiting for a long time. First one was the contract of Sophia, after that I could finally hold and travel in public and there would be no need to hide her.

The second one was the biggest. I would see my mom. This was the thing, that I had been waiting for the most and tomorrow I could head home. Finally.

I headed towards the kitchen; master had already left so I made my own breakfast. I ate some bread and drank tea. I didn't hurry, even if this was a big day for me. I didn't want to ruin it by doing everything too fast. I wanted to enjoy this day as much as possible.

I took my backpack and everything else that I had bought during my journey, which wasn't much because of the academy. I had some clothes from my first weeks, sword, mask, map and pretty much nothing else.

I had Sophia in my pocket and then headed out. I didn't run or rush. I peacefully walked on the capital's streets. Enjoying the smells of fast food in the air and loud arguing of prices.

After almost ten minutes I arrived at the guild. To my surprise Alice was also there. Sitting behind her counter and staring at the wall. Was she daydreaming?

I didn't want to talk to her right now and just walked to the counter on the other side of the table. There was another worker, so I just went up to him.

He was about average size meaning about 172cm tall and was wearing the black joggers with the guilds navy blue jacket.

"How may I help you today?"

"I want to form a contract with my beast"

"Alright, where is this beast?"

"Here..." I showed Sophia to him. He first didn't look at it with no expression but when he noticed it's now yellow eyes. His expression changed.

"Of course, if you could just wait here a little bit."

"Make it quick." I said that I had no rush but I still didn't want to stand around doing nothing in a dirty sweat smelling guild building.

I had to wait for a few minutes before the worker came back. He arrived with a huge man, at least 195cm, bald, brown beard but not in shape. Quite fat to be honest.

"Did you bring this beast?"

"I found it in the forest."

"How old are you?"

"18"

"Did you name it already?"

"Yes" Why were they asking so many questions? This is too suspicious.

"Does it have a core?"

"Why must I tell you that?" These questions didn't make any sense. Let's see how they will respond.

"Well you see, this beast is actually called a celestial silver snake. It's considered a rare beast."

"So?"

"We can't give it to you, before you reach B rank."

They were sharing laughs and stares among themselves. So, this is what they were going to do. They wanted to steal Sophia from me. Well lucky me. I took my A-rank badge and showed it to them.

Their mouths dropped on the floor and the worker glared at me.

"So, can I get the contract?"

"Are you a resident of the capital?"

"No"

"Then you can't do it here either. It must be done in the city/town closest to you."

"Fine." I took Sophia back and started to walk towards the front door and leave. This was a waste of time but I could just do it back in Montka.

"However, because the trip is so long, we will transport this beast."

The big and tall man was standing behind me and grabbed Sophia' tale.

"Huh?"

"We cannot let you, endanger this rare beast. So you should give it to us, and we will transport it."

Were these guys serious? Did they think that I was an idiot? Who would believe that?

"And what if she goes missing?" The leader looked surprised and nervous about my question. I wonder why.

"Well, then we cannot do anything about it and can only compensate you handsomely."

"I see..." This was enough. I released my killing intent and this time it was really easy. I just had to think, what I would do to that guy, if he laid his hands on Sophia for even one more second.

He did release them fast. He quickly backed off and dropped on the floor. How could he be the capitals guild master, if he couldn't manage even this amount of killing intent?

I left after that. I figured out that the most important reason to even be in the guild had been done and the big man wouldn't let my threat slide. So, I walked to the guard tower. Went inside and made my own identity papers.

Now I had no more reason to even have my badge anymore but because it didn't have anything bad things, even if I kept it. I decided to not throw it out yet, the papers were only a plan B if my card suddenly gets taken away or something.

I didn't even have to do the contract in the guild, I wanted to do that because it would be free and fast but I guess, that if Montka now refuses my offer, I would need to do it somewhere else. They can also be done in some kind of guard tower, so I'll try that.

After getting my identification papers with the last money that I had, I left the city. Before I had three rings and one of them was small, let's see the difference with a fourth small one and the colors.

I charged my feet with lightning and ran. The difference was immaculate, I was not light speed but still insanely fast. With this pace I would arrive in Montka, in only one hour. Last time it took more than four.

While running I didn't look at anything other than the road, because with speed like this, if I crashed into something, it could be extremely dangerous. So the only things I saw, were gravel, dirt and road signs.

(*(

It was about 3pm when I arrived to Montka. The travel there went safely and I didn't come across almost anyone or anything, lucky me.

When the guards stopped me, I showed them my identification papers and returned to the first city, that I visited.

The first thing that I did, was to go to the guild building. I hope that the guild leader didn't do anything to mess with me, but that too optimistic to think.

When I walked inside I noticed the rabbit girl, Clara. I walked up to her and asked the question as I did in the capital guild building.

"I would like to have a contracted beast."

"All right sir, please show me the beast or if it's not here, tell me when its good day to meet." Again, I out Sophia on the table and thought about what to do, if this failed. Luckily, nothing seemed to be going wrong.

Clara handed me some papers to sign and got some special kind of ink from under the counter. However, right when I was going to sign the paper, someone took the pen from me.

It was a dwarf, I had never seen that before.

"Could I see your badge." I got worried; the place was full of adventurers so getting out of here was going to be messy.

"Here" I handed him my badge. He looked at it, but then pointed some kind of weird stone at it and the badge turned red.

"Your badge is no longer valid, meaning that you cannot contract a rare beast without your A rank badge." Not good.

"To protect this rare beast." There isn't anyone strong here right now, so maybe I could just run out. I slowly moved my hand to Sophia, she seemed to know what I was doing, because she too started to walk towards my hand.

"We need to take care of it." At that moment, I was surrounded. There were five guys behind me. However, they seemed to be underestimating me, because when the dwarf finished his sentence. Sophia was already wrapped around my arm and I had lightning charged in my feet.

"How sad, I'll do this elsewhere." I disappeared from that guild. I ran towards the guard tower to make another contract before the guild would make anything else to make my life harder.

I was a lot faster than the other adventurers so I didn't have to worry about them catching up to me, but rather that the guild master had told them something. I soon arrived and marched inside.

"I want to make a contract with her."

"Okay okay, chill out. Fill these out." I grabbed the pencil and filled the information. Name, age, etc.

During that time, the guard had taken a stone and ink. He first pointed the blue stone at me. It was shaped like a magnifying glass; it was like the one in the guild but not the same. This time it shined blue.

After that They put ink on Sophia's head and then on my hand. The ink start to shine brightly.

"Please, say her name."

"Sophia." At that moment, the light shined even more brightly before almost blinding light came. I quickly closed my eyes but opened them soon. At that moment, Sophia was already wrapped around my arm and the guard had his hand handed out.

He was probably expecting money.

"Can I give you something even value?"

"Sure."

I grabbed an old monster tooth from the bottom of my backpack, that I hunted randomly. It was probably worth as much as the contract.

"Thank you."

I nodded back and left. No adventurers were in sight, good.

One of the two things are now done.
