1st mission

When the three days were over, I was so excited to get my card and were the first one to step to the guild that day and take my card.

I only had my F-rank card for four days and it was a wooden card with my name, age, and other basic information. Now that I had an A-rank one it was made out of some kind of crystal. B rank is gold, C-rank is silver, D rank is bronze, and E-rank is also wood.

E and F are wood because they only work as an ID because you can't even take any subjugation or bodyguard jobs with them, only gathering and helping some old people. I made the card into a necklace by putting a string through it and hung it on my neck and tucked it under my shirt.

I had shorts with joggers on and a hoodless jacket. I walked to the quest board and looked for a fun quest to take.

There were all kinds of tasks to do: Killing orcs, ghost spiders, bandits and so on. But one thing seemed nice, it was a bodyguard job.

The Count needs some kind of bodyguard because he and his family are going to the capital. The quest paid me ten gold coins and I wanted to visit the capital. I teared the paper off the wall because everyone else also did it and went to Clare.

She stared me for some time then looked at some papers next to her.

-I'll inform the count, tomorrow walk to the nearest mansion in East.

-Okay

I walked away and towards the library. I got there quickly and went to counter.

-Oh, Ayden. What, you want to borrow something again?

-Not today, I'm only returning today.

-That's a shame, you visit us almost daily, come back soon.

I waved them good bye and walked away, every worker there knew me by name now, I had after all read there from opening to closing time and borrowed books daily. There only worked 40-year old moms and treated me like their son. They even gave me cookies one time.

But because I was leaving for capital tomorrow, I had to return the books that I had borrowed. After that I got to the inn and walked to the register.

-Oh Ayden, what's up?

-I need to leave this city tomorrow, how long do I have the room for still.

-Oh really? Let's see.... You still have a week for your registration.

-Alright, can I have half of the money back from that?

-Yeah sure, here you go.

She gave me a gold coin and smiled.

-Thank you madam, I'll still eat here tomorrow!

As I was walking away, I responded. She also knew me by name, she had given me breakfast for two weeks in a row and a couple of free ones also.

I got to my room and packed my things. I put my mask, clothes, water and map to my backpack and then I was ready. I went to a bath and to my bed.

I wanted to check out my realm before going to sleep and try to see if anything was wrong.

After visiting my realm for almost seven years I could get there with only a though and not concentrate a lot and the third magic ring really helped it.

Everything seemed to be going well. The people now had jobs for everyone, there was a mayor, soldiers, cooks, hunters, black smiths, miners and so on. They really had advanced greatly. They even solved the disease thing without my help. That gave me a good strength boost.

When everything seemed to be fine, I left and fell asleep.

I woke up refreshed, took a bath to be refreshed and went to eat. I ate the known and safe pumpkin soup; I had tried two others but they weren't as good so I just continued with the soup.

I waved goodbye for the madam and Elsa who was hiding behind her mother and walked towards the city gates. After leaving the first city, that I had visited I ran towards east to the mansion. I wanted to be there as soon as possible, so I charged my feet with electricity and ran as fast as I could.

It was a fat trip, only took ten minutes and I was infront of the gates. I stood there not knowing what to do, there wasn't a bell or anything to knock on. So I did the thing that seemed the best and sat down next to the gate.

I sat there for like an hour. During that time, I gathered mana and developed my core. Then a guard came up to me.

-What are you doing here kid.

-I had a quest here.

-Show your badge.

He didn't seem to take me seriously. The quest was for B-ranks, and I was not even a teenager. I took out my badge and showed it to him. The face reminded me of Clare when I showed her the corpse of the lizard.

He gulped, opened the gate and let me inside. He was bowing the entire time that I walked through the gates and then behind me. He was wearing a standard armor with no helmet. He had a sword, and the armor had a coat-of-arms of the Counts.

I walked through the beautiful garden and in between of it and the mansion were five carriages each with the wolf with blue background.

When I got to the carriages, the guard told me to wait there and then went to find the duke. After standing there for almost five minutes and the Count's attendants looking at me uncertainly. Then the guard came back and behind him was another man, he was about 175cm, 45 years old and had blond hair. He was wearing a navy-blue suit.

-So you're the one, the last of the bodyguards,

I nodded.

-Alright, I'll the guild and their reasons to make you an A-rank. You will guard this carriage with your life and don't let anything happen to the one inside of it.

I again nodded and walked to the carriage, it was the one in the middle but the smallest one. I opened and without looking what was inside of it, I sat opposite of the one already inside of it. I then raised my head.

-Hello, my name is Ayden and I'm here to guard you today...Miss?

I was quite shocked to be honest, because the one that I was guarding seemed to be the Count's daughter.
