4 Chapter 4

The young woman slowly unsheated her sword and immediately dashed towards the last remainig survivors . Everyone except Ayanokouji and Cordux failed to react and where divided in half horizontally. Seeing that she failed to kill 2 people her delicate face showed an annoyed expression .

However when she slowly looked up at Ayanokouji's face her hearbeat seemed to come into a halt . Her muscles involuntarily convulsed as she turned crazy and attacked her surroundings with a ranged attack of Sword slashes.

Cordux who was lying on the ground immediately stood up and pulled Ayanokouji towards Grand Altar and defended him with his body. Soon the crazed attacks of woman stopped as she dropped dead. Seeing this already half dead Cordux subconcsioucly looked at young boy whom he had saved . But the moment he saw him his eyes shook .

What he saw was not a face of a boy whom he knew , but that of an fierce lady with bright red hair and burnung red eyes . This was the moment when all of his remaining vitality perished and he also died on the spot.

After a moment of silence i also dropped down on an altar as i observed how my face turned into cracks . My mask shattered and even my original face was bleeding non-stop. I coughed blood and slowly started feel death aproaching. After all one had to pay price for copying the face of Goddess. Soon , familiar voice of spell echoed in my ears .

[You have lost your memory...]

[You have slain Ascended Human, Asher]

[You have received an Echo]

[You have slain Awakened Human, Cordux]

[You have received a Memory]

As he heard those voices suddenly the lights of an Altar shone in bloody Red Light.

[You have offered yourself as the sacrifice to the gods.]

[The gods are dead, and can not hear you.]

[You soul bears the mark of divinity.]

[You are a Limitless Warrior .]

[War Goddess stirs in her eternal slumber.]

[She sends a blessing from beyond the grave.]

[Child of War, receive your blessing!]

Ayanokouji felt astonished . Under his gaze the blood of the dead beasts and his human allies, blood of the fallen ascended woman and blood of the Cordux got absorbed in an altar and surged towards him . As blood entered his veins Ayanokouji felt an immense pain . It felt as if every cell in his body was burning and underwenting a change.

And then he heard a Spell

[Wake up, Kiyotaka! Your nightmare is over]

[Prepare for apraisal... ]

Ayanokouji found himself in a space between dream and reality. The space resebled a Cosmos which was full of darkness and distant stars. As he was observing a mesmerising view he felt himself truly free .

The Spell was still apraising him . Soon he heard a whisper which wasn't related to apraisal .

[You have received an Echo: Asher]

[You have received a memory: Tyrfing]

'Unfortunantely my Faceless mask has been broken . But i gained an even better things'

While he was thinking about that Spell was done with its appraising.

[Aspirant! Your trial is over.]

[Seemingly ordinary warrior prevailed and survived a battlefield . He killed an 2 Awakened and 25 normal humans with his might at his first battle. After that he entered a temple where he killed an Ascended with his quick thinking and even took away the life of his saviour . After , he offered himself as a Sacrifice . The gods were dead , yet they listened.]

As he thought about that a slight smirk appeared on his face . This world was changing him . The world was making him feel thing he never felt . The world was making him experience emotions that he abondoned . Ayanokouji excitedly summoned the runes and found the lines describing his Aspect.
