Chapter 10

Gid'on sighed deeply as he sat on the edge of his bed, running his hands through his hair as he tried to calm down. He didn't know why, since he hadn't done anything wrong. Yet, something about what had happened at the meeting made him feel uneasy. As he looked out of the window, he noticed that the sun was starting to set. He wondered if he should go outside and enjoy the last rays of sunlight before night fell. He decided to leave the room, but before he could reach the door, he heard a voice calling his name.

"Gid'on! Wait!" Called out the voice again.

Gid'on turned around, facing his father. A slight blush started to appear on his cheeks at the sight of his father. He hadn't seen him in years and seeing him like that made him feel nostalgic and happy. It also made him realise why his father hadn't visited him for months, despite promising that he would soon.

His father approached slowly and took a sit on the edge of the bed next to him.

"What's going on?" Asked Argo as he looked at his son's face carefully.

"Nothing... nothing, it's just... I haven't talked to my father in ages."

It was the first time that Gid'on had actually spoken to his dad and it surprised him how nice the man seemed. But he wasn't completely happy either; his father had broken his heart. There was no doubt about that.

"Well, maybe I could come over tomorrow, and we could have a cup of tea, and talk about how you've been?" Suggested Argo.

"Wouldn't that be too awkward for you though? Maybe we should save that for another day." Asked Gid'on cautiously, unsure of whether he wanted his dad there. After all, the last time he had seen his father in person had probably been when his mother died. His father didn't need to witness the pain his younger brother went through, not when he had been so much older.

"No, no, it wouldn't be awkward. Trust me" Replied Argo earnestly.

"Ok then" Said Gid'on hesitantly, as he couldn't find any reason not to trust the man.

"Good, now let me get you ready for bed" Said Argo, standing up.

"Do I look okay?" Stated Gid'on, feeling self-conscious, as Argo stared at him for a couple of seconds and nodded.

"Perfect. Now, let's go downstairs. Mum and Dad are waiting for us." Assured his father cheerfully.

Both men went downstairs and sat in front of each other, as Argo began talking to his wife, while Gid'on started playing with his food. Soon, the rest of the family arrived. After a long, pleasant chat, Argo and his wife said their goodbyes and retired to their respective rooms, leaving Gid and Jackon alone at the table.

"I can't believe it took two days for mom to finally decide to tell you that she was pregnant". Mumbled Jackon, still staring at his plate.

"Jackon, it's fine, really" Replied Gid'on reassuringly as he placed his hand on Jackon's shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.

"I can't believe that it took you three weeks to finally admit to mom that you wanted kids, or that you loved her" Explained Jackon, shaking his head in disbelief. "If only she had told you the truth earlier, that maybe, just maybe she thought about having children herself, because she saw you with your mother and I was jealous, or she just wanted to protect her daughter..."

While his son was lost in thought, Gid'on listened intently to what he was saying. He had known that Jackon loved his mom very much, but he hadn'
