Chapter 3: A New World

Elias had been left alone in the room for the past few days. The only visitors were the maids who brought him food, other than that, he was left to his own devices in the room. Initially, Elias had explored the room with some curiosity as he examined the weird artifacts around the room. Plates of exotic decoration and tapestries of unique design were around the wall. Elias had also begun to start consolidating his memory, separating the two memories to make things manageable. After some deliberation, Elias had decided to try and act as the old Elias as much as possible. In this world, there were some monsters and spirits that the old body had learned from the tutors. If Elias began to act totally different, some may suspect that something happened to him. However, Elias would still try and shift his personality back to his own slowly, as the body was only 13 years old, a change in personality would be normal.

The port town he was currently in was called Havenreach, it was the only large port city in his family's duchy. It was currently wintertime in the region and snow was the only thing that could be seen outside. Bright red crystals could be seen along the walls of his room, these were mana crystals. The crystals utilized a special energy in this world to help create heat for his room. Elias was initially in awe of the phenomenon as this didn't exist in his previous world. Other usages for these crystals were seen throughout the room. There were crystals that blew air, created water, and would also create a fire.

Elias looked out the window, it was still snowing heavily so nobody could be seen outside the window of his large manor. The doctor had visited him earlier to check on his health, after confirming that there was nothing wrong, he said that Elias was to remain in bed for another day just to be safe. With nothing to do in the large room, Elias began to try and use mana from memory like the boy had done in his memory. Elias found a small sword near his wardrobe and brought it to the middle.

Elias held the sword with both hands and began to remember the memory from the boy using mana. As he focused, he felt a tingly feeling welling up inside his body. Urging the mana to the sword, Elias felt the tingly feeling move from his core to his arms and beginning to build up in his sword. Elias raised his sword and swung it, simultaneously releasing the buildup of energy that he was holding in the sword.

A large blade of ice was released from the blade, it flew and landed into the wall, cutting right into it before stopping. In its aftermath, a gaping hole was left in the room.

The door opened in the room and as a maid quickly went to check out what the commotion was.

"Young master! The doctor said that you must be resting! Quickly, lets put that down and go to bed."

The maid ushered Elias back to his bed, Elias just complied, not willing to fight back against the lady.

"Young master, is there anything that you need?"

Elias just shook his head and motioned her to go away, not even bothering to speak to her.

The maid nodded and quickly left the room.

Elias was left alone in the room; he was still in shock from what he just did. Never in his life had he imagined that he would be able to use mana like in stories.

Elias delved back into his memories to learn more about this mysterious force. As he learned more and more, the more interested he got in the world.

"It seems that this little ice blade is just the tip for what's possible with the mana."

Elias was curious if the knowledge he had from his previous life would also work here. But there is almost no study of the natural world in his memory. It seems that some people do study it but the science behind it is not thoroughly funded or popular as studying mana is a much more lucrative venture.

Elias got back out of bed and went to the desk in the room. "I need to write my memories down so that I can remember them in the future, it seems it will be a long time before I can make any use of them..."

Elias found some empty books at the study, he took the pen and began to write his memories, knowledge from his previous life, and anything else that he thought might be important. All of this was written in the language from his world so that the people here would not be able to read it.
