1 Not meant to

"Give it up, kid, there will be no use, fighting it won't help, clinging to the life you are living now, will only bring you death, you were not meant to be in this world, your time has come to an end, tragic, young one, this is not your destiny, let go of what you have and move forward, you are not supposed to live there."

A voice whispered to a young lady, who was dressed in a martial arts uniform, lying on a hospital bed, pawning for breath while tears ran down the side of her cheeks as her mates waited outside of the room and her vision began dimming.

"Who is that? Is this really it for me?" She mumbled, as she thought about death coming to her front door and her voice trembled.

"What do you mean by I am not meant to be here? Am I going to die? What's going one?" She mumbled with a faint tone as the doctors were trying their best to treat her.

As she was losing consciousness, blood streamed down her forehead as she began seeing images, recalling what happened before she came to the hospital and how she ended up in that state.

A few hours ago, the girl in the hospital, whose name was Mai, took part in a martial arts tournament in her country, she was quite skilled, even though she was just eighteen years of age and was one among the best fighters of her generation.

The girl won many medals growing up, making her family, who owned a dojo as well as other businesses quite proud of her and she carried a history behind her as well, especially being the next successor of her clan, something she didn't want to be though.

She had other dreams and didn't want to have such a big responsibility on her shoulders at such a young age, she wanted to live freely and go on many different adventures.

Little did she know that on the very day, she won her championship, something terrible would befall her, something that seemed to happen quite often with her, she carried terrible luck and was always in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

That day, after she won, the girl went home to celebrate with her family, which was quite big and well-known throughout their city, despite having a loving parent and a nice brother.

There were snakes among the other family members, ones that would bite her the minute her back was turned, for they didn't want her to become the next head of the clan.

She knew that many of them hated her, but not once did she ever look in their direction because she had no interest in their conflicts or the position.

That afternoon, when the girl had just finished collecting her gifts and celebrating with her family, she left home to go and meet her friends, since she was already late, she didn't bother changing, because they were not going anywhere fancy, they were just goings have a fun time doing karaoke and have a hot pot for dinner.

While she was on her way there, she saw someone running behind a guy, screaming at him to hand her bag over and she exhaled deeply.

Mai was tall, fair, slim, had bright blue eyes and long, thick jet black hair with a curvaceous body.

"Some please stop him!"

Mai lept forward hitting him directly by his side, causing him pain and she kneed him in his stomach, due to which he fell to the ground before her and dropped the bag, which the girl that was chasing after him collected.

"You steal from a helpless young girl, you are quite pathetic aren't you?" She asked.

"Shut up!" He shouted and she slapped him and his eyes widened as everyone that was there, looked on.

"Who the hell do you think you are shouting at? Do you want me to smash your face in?" She asked as she grabbed him by his hair and his eyes trembled as he looked at the way she was dressed.

"Please, no," He responded and she scoffed then threw him to the ground and at the same time, the cops that the girl had already called arrived.

"Arrest him," One of them said and the other placed him in handcuffs and then apologized for the trouble and she smiled before thanking them for coming.

"Thank you," The girl said.

"It's okay, next time be a little more careful or you might not be so lucky," She replied with a smile as she walked away.

"Cool..." The girl mumbled with a slight blush on her cheek then she shook it off and Mai so, to which she chuckled and went on her way.

When she arrived at the place her friends agreed to meet up, she saw they were already there waiting for her and she apologized for being late, but they didn't care that she was, for they were happy about her victory.

They took her inside and she saw that the place was busy, but they had booked themselves a private room, where they could simply do as they pleased and be comfortable, without having to worry about what others think.

As the girls were signing, Mai ate her food with a smile on her face, happy to see that everyone was having fun but as she did so, she remembered the way some of her family members looked at her earlier and she exhaled deeply.

'What did I ever do to them? Can't they just be happy for me? We got along so well when we were younger,' She thought as a frown appeared on her face.

"Mai... What's wrong?" Her best friend, who was a blonde and half foreigner, whose name was Sally asked as she wrapped her arm around the girl's neck and Mai glanced at her.

"Nothing, I was just thinking about a few things, come on, eat your food and don't drink too much," She responded and Sally smiled at her then nodded, before taking her food to eat.

Later that night, when they had finished eating and having their fun, Mai left the building and exhaled deeply as she looked up at the night sky and scoffed when she saw how brightly the stars were shimmering.

"Beautiful..." She mumbled when she felt as though someone was looking at her and her brows furrowed as she looked in the direction, she felt it from.

'Am I being followed?' She wondered as she saw a shadow behind the wall and her eyes narrowed then she clenched her fist in anger for she already had a lot going on and didn't want anymore trouble.
