11 Sleeping Together

Should they sleep together in the bedroom? Or Should she make an excuse, and go to the guest bedroom to sleep? But that won't look offensive to him, would it? So far, he has only treated her with a gentleman's care. He makes her feel comfortable. It should be alright to sleep with him, right?

Arella's mind went into a drilling example of overthinking. She absentmindedly helped Adrian in cleaning the table.

"I have a good sleeping posture." Adrian's looming voice interrupted her trail of thoughts.

"Huh?" Arella did not understand.

Adrian looked at her and calmly explained.

"The bed is big enough, and I sleep well. So, sleeping together should not be a problem. But if you need time, it is okay. I can go to the guest bedroom for tonight."

He was never an impatient man, but she somehow made him restless. He wanted her to always be in his proximity. He knew he should give her some personal space, but thinking of the lined up expedition, he did not want to wrong himself at all.

If she agreed, he would just lie down in the same bed with her. It should be able to pacify his greedy core. This was the first time he wanted to be impulsive. This was not what his beast demanded, but something that he, himself wanted. He wanted to be near her.

"Okay." This time Arella did not take much time. She had realized that this man was dependable and straightforward. And she felt safer, relaxed, and confident around him.

Something had changed between them. Blame it on his beast who greeted and treated her gently, or him cooking a midnight snack for her. His presence was not intimidating any longer.

And they had to sleep together in the future as well. So, why not start today? Why wait? Arella gave a carefree shrug and made up her mind.

Both of them cleaned the table and went to the bedroom.

"Right side or left side?" Arella asked cautiously.

"What?" Though Adrian prided himself on being pretty smart, he could not understand her question at all.

"Umm, do you have a favorite bedside? The side that you usually sleep on?" Arella was confused too. Why did she have to ask that? Couldn't she keep her mouth closed? He wasn't a cub who would create a fuss over such details! Damn! She should have kept quiet! He must be thinking of her as an idiot now!

"No, I am okay with either. Do you have a favorite side?" Adrian did not know that something like this existed. Well, let's say, he had learned something new today.

"No, I am okay with any side." Arella sighed, thank goodness he didn't ridicule her for her silly question!

Adrian took one side while Arella lay flat on the other. He was right. The bed was spacious. Even after lying down, they had an acceptable distance between them. Even if they stretched, their arms wouldn't touch.

Arella thought it would be hard for her to sleep like this. A new bed, a different environment, and a man lying next to her, everything was very novel. She was used to sleeping alone. But to her surprise, it didn't take long for her to be in deep slumber.

Listening to the soft, even breaths coming from his side, Adrian felt a warmth filling his core.

After the death of his parents, this was the first time he had shared his bed with anybody. Even in army camps, no soldier would dare to take the initiative to share his bed.

Things like cooking for someone, letting the beast out to greet her, sharing the bed, and having a partner to share one's life with, might be common to others. But to him, it was all remarkably new. Never in his wildest fantasies had he imagined having a soul mate.

He is aloof and taciturn by nature. He would not speak much and did not indulge in idle activities like gossiping. To him, there were only superiors and juniors. He never thought of having a person who could stand next to him.

Even thinking about being tied to someone made him irritated. But Arella, she was different. She wasn't nosy like others.

After getting married, they had to undergo a background check as per army regulations. Upon receiving the results, he was relieved and grateful. And had only one thought in his mind: Thank you, Beast God! Arella was perfect. She was calm, dependable, and minded her own business. Except for her aptitude, there was nothing that could be questioned.

Moreover, he felt a faint sense of familiarity with her. Even his beast, who was usually very proud, meekly bowed his head in front of her during the first meeting. His beast really liked her.

Adrian was certain, that his beast would become more happy if it could meet with her beast form. But regretfully, she was just a D-ranked tamer. Maybe she herself wasn't aware of her own beast form. But to him, it doesn't change a thing.

He did not feel embarrassed by her low aptitude. In fact, to him, it was a blessing in disguise. Fortunately, her aptitude was low, otherwise somebody would have snatched her from him! Thinking of snatching, he had to thank that lousy ex of hers too!

There were two conflicting emotions that battled inside him when it came to her ex. One showed a sense of gratitude, thanking him for leaving her, and the other was enraged at his audaciousness. How dare he cheat her! Seems like he would have to take 'special care' of this ex during the training! What this special care would be, only he himself knew.

Engrossed in his thoughts, he tilted a little, and the calmness of her sleeping visage filled his vision. She slept very quietly. Only soft breaths marked the presence of life in the still girl. The more he looked at her, the more beautiful she became.

How could anybody be so perfect? Others might think that she was unusually quiet, but he noticed that she was very measured. She only spoke when it was necessary. In a way, they were both alike.

There was only one remorse. Why hadn't they met before? Had he found her before, that lousy man could not have had the chance to break her trust! She would not have felt sad. Though she masked her expressions, her eyes were sad.

Why hadn't they met before? When they crossed ways, his beast had immediately caught up on her scent. His beast was very possessive. Why hadn't he recognized her earlier?

When he touched her for the first time, he could sense a dominant aura surrounding her, but that aura disappeared since the moment she fainted. She possessed a strong aura. But her aptitude was significantly low. And her body is weak too. Even if she channeled her aura, her current body won't be able to handle it.

Adrian closed his eyes to have some rest but the unanswered queries still roamed in his head. Why did she possess such a dominant aura? Why was her current body so weak? Why did she feel so familiar? What mysteries surrounded her? Who was she?
