Chapter 40: World Peace I

...........

"..." Before them was the guy who told them to keep shut about the gods, to avoid talking about them, and to especially not talk ill of them.

The news told them about the necessity of the Tombs of Gods. It's possible to grow divinity by themselves, Silver told them. However, it would just take too long, thousands if not tens of thousands of years.

"We mostly definitely will focus on awakening points from now on. There might be to them than we previously thought," Silver continued.

"It's indeed strange," Albert nodded, fully agreeing with him.

"Any ideas?" Natalia curiously asked, knowing Silver's imagination. Many possibilities must be swimming in his mind right now.

"Too many," Silver nodded, "I'll need to filter many possibilities out. I'll get back to you later. For now, let's start the nuclear experiment."

"Everything is already prepared," Luscious said as he turned on the large screen in the Hal. The event that will take place now is actually the focus of their meeting.

The screen showed high fidelity video footage, live footage of a forest, and within the forest was what appeared to be a lake, although not made of water but a sticky grey substance... It was a portal.

That's the entrance to one of the Tombs of Gods. What's within was known yet unknown to Umbrella at the same time for it varies from person to person.

None of the Quintessence went in there as per Silver instructions and their common sense for there was still too much unknown about them.

Instead, they started by sending the dead and drones... The moment they enter the Tomb, the connection with them gets cut off, even the Hive Mind unable to prey on what lies within.

It was as if everything that went in simply disintegrated into nothingness. Umbrella then sent living people which proved Silver's theory. The theory states that anything that enters without a soul will be eradicated.

The humans they sent proved that by coming back completely naked, nothing outside of their naked bodies came back. That's naturally not the most important thing.

What was most peculiar was the state in which they came back. Some come back insane, others an incoherent mess, their mind still stuck in what they saw, and all, without question, don't really remember what they saw... They only remember a blur, but their feelings and emotions during the ordeal, they still remember.

They felt so many different emotions, so Silver came to the conclusion that what each sees to be different, something akin to an illusion. It's a test that suits the person best, a difficult nigh impossible test.

Crystal when asked the same question also said something similar for although she succeded, she still doesn't remember much of what took place inside... Only a blur.

It was pretty much confirmed that the Tomb of Gods leads to a test that upon succeeding, you can get the divinity that suits you best, a deadly arduous shortcut to greatness.

The Gods are good. The Gods know better. The Gods are fair. No even the most zealous of people would believe that. Why? Because the word was Gods, not God.

The already confirmed existence of multiple Gods instead of a single God inherently entails disorder and conflict. Hell, even before Doomsday, people who believed in the same God were constantly in conflict.

There were several religions that believed in the same God, but still are different religions that went to war for different reasons, so imagine the chaos that multiple Gods would entail.

The fact that the Gods need fate makes it even more so as there will certainly be wars for believers as they are to a certain extent the source of their power.

Therefore, inherently, most Gods would be bad. Most Gods would be fair... Only to themselves. The Gods won't necessarily know better. Everything Silver saw so far told him that they are not perfect creatures. In fact, they seem very flawed, akin to humans.

So Silver being Silver chose to run a few experiments, but only after making sure there won't be any consequences. Therefore, they ran many tests, today being the final one, dropping a nuke in the Tomb.

How would one go about getting a nuke? Well, not that difficult at all in Doomsday. Information about the location of nuclear weapons is typically classified due to national security considerations.

However, finding a few proved to be easier than expected as Umbrella searched through every military facility nearby, using their army of the dead.

Their army of the dead, mind you, is very discreet as it's how Umbrella plans to keep their watchful eyes on the World... It consists of insects, and small animals, mostly birds.

The T virus naturally affects animals, or basically any living creature with flesh as while it does infect plants, the virus' impact on them is little to none.

The Silver Cells which are a virus produced from the T virus naturally have the same effect. No, way stronger of an effect.

Thus the scenery before them as a nuke was dropped from the sky, from one of their aircrafts. They all watched with bathed breaths as the bomb fell in what seemed like slow motion.

The bomb was luminescent, some kind of blue energy enveloping it, the energy of Luscious' right-hand man, Ali. That means that when the bomb comes in contact with anything, it will explode, setting off the nuclear reaction.

The bomb coming in contact with the grey lake didn't set off any reaction as it smoothly passed through as if the grey substance was nothing but an illusion, yet the substance having a reaction said otherwise as a burst of vibrant colors flooded from within, forming something akin to a vortex of a myriad of colors, a rainbow.

Silver narrowed his eyes, watching as the flood of rainbow slowly went away, the reaction vanishing as quickly as it appeared, "We found an irregularity."

There was no nuclear explosion. There was only silence as if the grey lake devoured the bomb whole, and that in itself was strange but what was stranger was the reaction it produced, the burst of rainbow.

"I didn't expect it..." Luscious frowned, contemplating the phenomenon, "I really didn't think something potentially made by the Gods could be affected by men's weaponry, even if it's nuclear weaponry."

"It's interesting," Natalia murmured, "What could the rainbow colors signify?" She had to wonder.

"Happiness? Vibrancy? Satisfaction?" Said Sam, "Whatever it may be, it feels like a positive reaction."

"What do you think, Silver?" Albert asked upon noticing Silver's deep musing.

"Crystal said that the Tomb of Gods she went into disappeared after her trial," Silver pointed out, "This one didn't even though we sent several people inside. That means that someone has to succeed for the Tomb to vanish... But why does it vanish?"

"The rules of the game," Silver continued, "So that one power can not monopolize the Tombs of Gods and basically use it as an infinite Godhoods generator."

"So that's it?" Natalia raised a brow in surprise, "What about the rainbow reaction?"

"That I do not understand, thus why we'll continue with our research," Said Silver, "So far we have found only three Tombs of Gods, speaking to their rarity. Part of me wants to use two of those to see what happens but another has a theory... We shouldn't use any for now."

"Oh?" Luscious blinked, curiosity apparent in his eyes, "What theory?"

"Well, several theories actually," Silver stated before continuing, "What if the Tomb requires energy to pass on Godhoods? Thus why the Tomb vanishes when that's done? Is it possible for us to feed it energy to be able to use it infinitely? Maybe that's why the Rainbow reaction happened."

The group's eyes brightened. That seems very plausible... Well, it did seem plausible until Silver added, "That's the least likely scenario though as I find it hard to believe that a God would leave behind such an obvious exploit... The Rainbow reaction should be a feature."

"Let's continue sending energy into the Tomb, then send the same individual there and see if their trial changes," Silver's suggestion pretty much told them his theory.

So Umbrella started doing just that but without using nukes this time as they have another source of unlimited energy, the Silver Effect.
