Chapter 32: Umbrella Sanctuary I

...........

And sometimes, the chess pieces make quite the strange decisions, "No matter what, we have to find Silver Eyes!" Anna stated coldly, referring to Silver, "Hopefully, we can cooperate with him... For the sake of our future."

Speaking of Silver, here he stood, overseeing his own vast territory with his eyes closed, adorned in white pants, and a simple long-sleeved white shirt.

He was standing on the highest point of Umbrella Sanctuary, a watch tower they finished constructing only recently and standing beside him was Nate, the kid with the Hawkeye ability.

Nate's job is usually to keep watch from above as he can see clearly from miles away. Today, Silver joined him, making him somewhat nervous.

Although very tall, Silver without his hazmat suit isn't so scary. In fact, he merely looks like a gentle piece of art, his silver hair, eyes, and even the silver radiance he releases making him look somewhat holy.

And indeed, as he came to understand more about divinity, and even gained the ability to sense it within his domain, he realized that most people in Umbrella see him to be holy.

They think of him as their protector, savior, the Umbrella that will never fall, but some of them also fear him, especially those who just joined, those who were once Carvel's underlings.

Silver very much appreciates talent, so after bringing down Carvel, he of course took over all he owned, transporting his underlings to Umbrella. Only those who want of course... The rest vanished somewhere, never to be seen again.

Then again, there were only a few who refused, mostly those who supported Carvel's cruelty and even participated in it. Most were beyond happy to see an angel save them from that hellish place.

"Hm?" Silver suddenly raised a brow as he turned his attention to a certain direction, the direction of New York, 'I succeeded?'

He felt it. In that instance, he felt something perhaps only a few can feel, divinity swimming toward him, a different one.

Silver now knows than he knows more about divinity than the other Lords for Carvel seemed to be able only the thin aura of divinity around him, an aura every Lord can see.

Silver, on the other hand, can through his domain see divinities to a deeper degree, even going as far as being able to sense whence they came from, or rather, how his divinity grows.

Just like now, Silver can feel divinity as it enters his domain, he can sense the fear of those it came from, fear of the Unknown, and that Unknown is Silver, thus contributing to his divinity.

It's somewhat strange to him that he can grow his divinity not only through people who believe in him, but also those who don't even know him, only heard of him.

'So the Lords did meet up after all?' Silver stroked his chin, looking thoughtful, 'Well, at least I confirmed how I should grow my Divinity of the Unknown... Keeping that mysterious persona should do the job.'

'Hopefully, one of them catches the bait,' Silver mused. He left Carvel alive for many reasons, as a bait for many things, 'Well, Anna should certainly take the bait.'

[Awakening]

[Name: Silver]

[Physiology: White Dwarf Cell Physiology]

[Divinity: Unformed (Aspects of Silver, Light, Savior, The Unknown... Darkness)]

[Physique: 398]

[Soul: 1929]

[Endurance: 5201]

[Energy: 75280/75280] (7528*10)

[Awakening Points: 1596]

[Awakening Ability: Silver Effect: Unknown Silver energy with unknown effect]

'It's slowing down,' Silver noted as he eyed his stats before resting his eyes on his physiology, White Dwarf Cell Physiology.

Silver has been accumulating his awakening points, never using them, yet why are his stats increasing? Well, because of his Physiology.

It's constantly improving his physique and endurance. Even his soul was improving as he mimicked how the White Dwarf Cell Physiology works and constructed it in the core of his soul with the New Silver Effect.

Silver's T Cells in combination with the Silver Effect allowed them to constantly mutate and enrich themselves with energy, but there is only so much energy they can take.

Thus his improvement slowing down was expected, although the possibility of the T Cells evolving again is still there, so much potential Silver could see in his Physiology.

"Do you find it boring in here?" Silver suddenly asked Nate.

"Huh? N-no no, not at all," Nate stuttered his reply, becoming even more nervous.

"Really? I thought a kid like you who must've certainly been used to the internet would find it boring without it," Silver has a way with reading people like a book, "And there isn't much fun stuff to do around here anyway, no?" How can he not when every single twitch of their every muscle is within his vision?

"I guess?" Nate was way too embarrassed and nervous to be his usual cheerful self.

"I really did ignore the entertainment side of Umbrella," Silver murmured before shaking his head, "We can find entertainment when death isn't looking over our shoulders anymore."

Those words would stick with Nate for a very long time. Entertainment in Doomsday? Sounds like a recipe for disaster, especially when the Game Of Awakening still has two more stages, likely more dangerous than the first.

It's basically Silver's morning ritual to look over the Sanctuary with his domain and make sure everything is right, then back to his personal lab where he usually goes... Not today.

"Albert," Silver nodded at the middle-aged man before turning his attention to Natalia who had her face buried in a stack of papers, quite focused on something, "Very interested in creating that monster, are we?"

"Huh?" Natalia was awakened from her daze, eyeing Silver strangely before saying, "Monster? You mean a work of beauty, right?"

"Hmm, I'm sure many in Psychiatric hospitals would agree," Silver shrugged as he said.

"Hey! C'mon now. I'm certainly not crazy... I just see the beauty in things. I don't judge a book by its cover," Natalia also shrugged.

"Honestly, I don't know why she's looking too far. Wouldn't it be better to focus on what we can actually achieve right now instead of delving into a teen's dream?" Albert couldn't help but chime in, "The Tyrant Project is already a major success."

"Honestly, I don't know why he's looking so low. Wouldn't it be better to focus on something that's actually useful? That can work against Awakeners instead of cowering from this sweet adventure," Natalia fired right back, "The Nemesis project is so much better."

"Alright, stop with your bickering," Silver had to interfere lest the place turns into a venom nest with how much they wanna kill each other, "James, show me the prototype." In the meeting hall was another individual, a middle-aged man named James, the temporary head of Umbrella's Intelligence Network, a division that's still in the work.

James nodded before moving his laptop before Silver, initiating some sort of application, "Creating the AI wasn't difficult at all. The problem was always the lack of electronics around for it to take advantage of."

While Silver focuses most on the biological field, he wouldn't ignore the technological field that's certainly rich with potential, thus the creation of the AI project.

"We do lack time," Silver nodded. For the AI to function to its full capabilities, it'd need tons of electronics, all of which were basically destroyed due to the second fog, but fortunately, they can make them again, although it takes time, "The new talents aren't enough?"

"Barely enough for your schedule, even if the Awakeners help," James stated by the time the AI was initiated, Project Red Queen.

"You're really too attached to this Umbrella persona," Albert couldn't help but point out, "We're basically mimicking everything from the movies Umbrella Corporation. Wouldn't we end up like them?"

[In the movies and the games, Umbrella Corporation is depicted as a powerful and secretive pharmaceutical and biotechnology company. It operates with questionable ethics, conducting dangerous experiments on humans and animals in pursuit of creating bio-weapons and enhancing human abilities. Its failure came from the inside due to not having central leadership and different goals. It's thus unlikely for you to experience the same thing]

The Red Queen strangely took the initiative to speak, her voice sounding from the laptop. As she is now, she can only function in Umbrella's internal Network which is all connected through a vast cable Network.

The server room is naturally hidden in the Hive, deep underground, and naturally, she can not function through the internet because there isn't any, so she had to be connected to the laptop through cables.

"Hmm, did you put in all the information I told you to?" Silver ignored her for now and asked James.

"Yeah, after coding the rules, we added your information to her database," James nodded. The AI naturally needs rules to abide by lest it goes rogue.

"Perfect, so tell me Red Queen. If you go rogue now, what will be your chance of success if you wish to destroy Umbrella," And as usual, Silver either does the strangest things or asks the weirdest of questions.
