Chapter 44: The Fall Of Light II

...........

Unnoticed, she looked at the sky as she murmured, "Let my spirals of threads fall upon him! Leaving nothing behind..." Not very original, but Words have power.

The power of Demigods elevates individuals' abilities to ridiculous degrees, reaching new heights, just like Natalia as she performed what can only be called a miracle.

Lord Bernard noticed, albeit too late as the buildings around him started literally Spaghettifying, turning into numerous threads that coiled about, flowing into the sky to form a spear.

Lord Bernard knew instantly he couldn't escape the attack. He could only guard himself using his manifestation, yet his eyes couldn't help but widen as he eyed the spear that never stopped expanding.

The white spear of white coiled threads hovered high in the sky, dwarfing even Bernard's golden manifestation with a speed surpassing it by far as it fell down upon him.

If there were still any buildings left around that weren't turned into threads, they would've certainly been completely obliterated by the force of the impact.

The collision sent waves of destruction all about, flares of friction flying all over as Lord Bernard's face turned pale not only in fright but also in exhaustion as it took him a significant portion of his energy to resist the attack, yet his manifestation was still fractured all over.

"Noel!! Take me out of here!!!" Lord Bernard bellowed before looking around for the enemy, seeing only a clump of threads far away, coiling about like snakes, "Just wait!! Just wait till we come for you!! Till your World falls!!! I'll put you on a stake and make you watch burn aflame!!!"

"..." Natalia didn't respond. She merely blinked her eyes, and her threads moved with her.

"Afraid to show yourself?! You..." If Bernard wanted to say more, he couldn't as he looked down at his chest to find a coil of threads lodged comfortably in it.

Without him realizing it, Natalia's threads slipped through the cracks of his manifestation, cracks that healed very quickly but not quickly enough.

Natalia really didn't think that would work as she assumed one of two things. Being that he's within the giant construct, and it's basically his manifestation, she assumed he'd be able to sense everything within it. Moreover, she assumed the manifestation's insides would be solid.

However, it seems that Silver's words still hold true. Most if not all abilities have weaknesses or heavy costs, and she used Bernard's weakness to end him, or so she hoped.

The manifestation crumbled just as a distant figure of brilliance appeared on the horizon, shrouded in a blue cloud. It took the flying figure less than a second to reach Bernard, appearing beside him as he came to a starking halt.

The man shrouded in blue didn't talk or even look around as his actions were swift, pulling Bernard out of the coil of threads before seemingly vanishing away, or rather, that's what it seemed like as his speed went from zero to the speed of sound instantly, vanishing into the sky.

Natalia had acted quickly as her threads attempted to kill or catch the new intruder, but his every action seemed to occur in a vacuum where time moves so much faster than everything else.

At least, she killed Bernard, right? Her threads took out his heart after all... Yet she wasn't assured of his death at all for there are too many miraculous awakeners out there.

Natalia could only watch the man known as Noel shroud himself and Bernard in the cloud of blue before vanishing into the horizon with a speed her threads simply couldn't hope to reach for now.

Natalia's eyes have been watching everything through the coil of threads surrounding her and protecting her from any surprising harm, so she naturally saw the survivors, the ones Noel couldn't save.

Only three individuals survived the battle, Lord Yosel who seemed barely conscious, the vanguard whose entire armor was broken, bleeding profusely, and one of the casters whose hands were missing. The latter went unconscious shortly after due to the bleeding.

"Curse you..." Lord Yosel hoarsely mumbled, barely able to speak, yet he forced himself to cry out, "I curse you for all eternity to suffer from the flames of hell for all your sins!! So just kill me! But know that I will haunt you in death, forever!!"

Natalia's expression housed a frown as she looked at him before turning around, her butterfly wings flapping to fly away... She just left, leaving the group amidst hordes of Zombies, watching them eagerly, just waiting for the order to eat them alive.

"You!!! You dare! Give me an honorable death!! Do not let these maggots eat me!!!" Lord Yosel bellowed, eyes red out of anger, yet Natalia didn't respond as she disappeared into the distance.

Yosel could only look about in despair, closing his eyes and awaiting death, but not before muttering his last words of prayer, "My dear God, the One and Only... I pray that you delay my stay here a while. I pray that instead of entering the gorgeous gates of heaven that I so wish to enter, I can stay here as a ghost to haunt these heretics forever!!!"

The man's cry was hoarse and sharp, veins popping on his head, seemingly going mad out of hatred, yet he heard no response, nor did he feel his flesh getting torn by the numerous Zombies about.

In fact, he heard movement, but it wasn't going toward him but away. Yosel opened his trembling lips, looking around to see the Zombies vanishing into the darkness, "Huh?"

Lord Yosel was utterly confused as he fell to his knees in a pool of blood and scattered flesh and bones, silence soon returning to the area as he looked around, perplexed, "Why?"

Was he and the other survivors let go just like that? He had to wonder. Well, it doesn't seem like it as he heard two ominous growls behind him.

Lord Yosel never heard their steps as if they had silence manifested behind him, and as he looked back, he realized their source... Dogs, two deformed dogs with skin that seem to be burned, their eyes white.

The dogs were dreadful, the muscles of their legs bulged up, and their deadly mouth wide open, allowing vision to the their raw sharp fangs, drolling blood from them, yet unconcerned about the concept of pain.

If he wished to resist or face them, he couldn't find the power in himself to do so, utterly exhausted, pain traveling all over his body, and just when he wanted to keep praying, trying to ignore the abominations behind him, they moved... The dogs moved.

Lord Yosel closed his eyes, awaiting his death in darkness, yet nothing came, only growls followed by screams of pain that were cut off instantly, "Huh? N... No, no no no!!"

Yosel realized what happened yet he still opened his eyes to look, only to see the heads of the only two survivors of his group getting munched on by the dogs, and more dogs passed by, munching upon the bodies.

The dogs' growls as they carried his underlings' bodies and ran away would haunt him for life, still able to hear them barking at each other,  as if in enjoyment of the taste of his comrades' flesh.

Darkness and Silence overwhelmed his surroundings, and not just because of the lifelessness in his eyes, but there was truly only silence as he was left alone, the enemy seemingly having no desire to end him.

It was like they left him to live with the pain... Killing himself? That's not an option for his worship of the one true God forbids him of such a thing... The man is too zealous to break his oaths.

So despite the pain... Despite everything... Lord Yosel soon stood up again, stumbling his steps lifelessly outside the city. Slowly but surely, something was flickering in his eyes, about to be set aflame... Flames of vengeance.

So the man walked even as he bled, crawling his way through a nearby dense forest, sometimes knocking on random trees while muttering something under his breath.

Whatever those Words were, they had power for when he finally reached a specific Tree and knocked on it, his expression moved, and so did the tree as it opened up upon hearing his whispers.

Lord Yosel took a step forward, just another step from entering the light in the tree, but he found himself having to stop as he turned around, his eyes burning with hatred as he hissed, "Just wait! I'll be back to bring you all down!!"

And into the tree he went before it closed, becoming nothing but a normal tree... Lord Yosel was unaware, I rocken too blinded by hatred to notice that he didn't go back home alone... He brought some uninvited visitors with him, and they didn't come in kind.
