39 Blood Suckers

The next day heralded the arrival of a mission that tingled with anticipation. Members of the Shadow Eclipse Society, including Ye Fan's team members and many other teams, gathered at the designated post. The atmosphere buzzed with a mix of excitement and readiness, each team member standing at attention.

Ye Fan exchanged familiar greetings with his comrades, taking a moment to acknowledge the addition of Li Chen to their team. With this, they formed a complete unit of five members, each contributing unique skills and abilities to the team's dynamic. The roster included Su Mu, the captain and Fire Spiritual Master, Lin Xiaoqiao a Hunter profession, Lin Mo, a Mechanic profession, Li Chen, a specialized Water and Ice Spiritual Master, and Ye Fan, the Spiritual Planter with a focus on defense and control. Together, they formed a diverse and capable team ready to face the challenges that awaited them.

As the team members glanced at Ye Fan, their expressions shifted from anticipation to astonishment. Standing behind him were two robust wood spirits, Groot 1 and Groot 2, each approximately one meter tall. Their bodies, composed of Titan Wood bark, gave them a sturdy and protective appearance, resembling miniature bodyguards flanking Ye Fan. Additionally, a smaller Groot, Groot 3, perched on Ye Fan's shoulder, adding an adorable touch to the unique ensemble. The unexpected presence of these Titan Wood Sprouts stirred a sense of curiosity and surprise among the team members.

looking at the Groot's, Su Mu was the first to ask him about them, particularly the little Groot sitting on his shoulder. "Brother Ye," Su Mu inquired with a raised eyebrow, "where did you get these little creatures? They look very cute."

Ye Fan grinned, a hint of pride in his expression. "Ah, these are Titan Wood Sprouts. I've been experimenting with some spiritual plants, and they turned out to be quite useful. Meet Groot 1 and Groot 2," he gestured towards the larger ones, "and the little troublemaker on my shoulder is Groot 3." the little Groot also spoke, "I am Groot!"

Lin Xiaoqiao who was standing behind, couldn't contain her amusement. "They're adorable! But how can they help us on the mission?"

Ye Fan chuckled at their reactions. "Well, aside from being cute, they're surprisingly strong. Groot 1 and Groot 2 here are both bronze-tier creatures stronger than any of us," he patted the larger entities, "they have some decent combat abilities. They can help with defense and even provide a bit of muscle if needed."

Li Chen, always intrigued by new things, chimed in, "And what about the little, Groot 3?"

Ye Fan smirked, "Groot 3 might be small, but it's got some tricks up its... branches."

Su Mu, still amused, commented, "I never thought I'd see the day when our team has a bunch of walking, talking plants as a backup." before they could continue there was a sudden silence in the surroundings caused by an entry of tall man who is holding a large axe on his shoulder, "He is Caption Wu, head of today's mission."

Captain Wu, a seasoned leader with silver-tier fighting power radiating both sternness and confidence, took center stage to address all the teams that gathered. His words cut through the charged air. "Today's mission is of utmost importance," Captain Wu declared with authority. "We've received reports of a monster: Blood Suckers. These monsters have been attacking the outskirts division D3 of the Society's territory, posing a significant danger. Our objective is clear—to investigate, eliminate the threat, and ensure the safety of the residents in the affected areas."

Captain Wu continued, "We'll be heading to the outskirts of Zone D3, where the Blood Suckers have been reported, society has deployed multiple teams to cover the affected areas. Each team will be responsible for investigating and eliminating the threat in their designated zone, the specific instructions are sent to your Sky Drives."

He unfolded a map, marking key locations and assigning teams to specific areas. "Team 1, you'll cover the northern sector; Team 2, the southern sector. And team 4, will be focusing on the eastern sector each team is subdivided into multiple short teams of 4 to 5 members. Keep in mind, these Blood Suckers are not to be underestimated. Reports indicate that they vary in size, ranging from the size of a fist to larger ones depending on their strength with strong reproduction capabilities. They're swift, relentless, and possess a thirst for blood. Approach with caution and eliminate them swiftly."

As Captain Wu outlined the details, Ye Fan's attention was keenly focused as he listened, "Remember, every team is allocating with a special device that can affect the Blood suckers. Report any unusual findings, and if the situation escalates, coordinate with other teams for backup. The mission begins now. Stay vigilant, stay connected, and may the elements guide us to success," Captain Wu concluded, instilling a sense of purpose and urgency in the team.

The teams dispersed, each moving towards their designated sectors. Team 3, led by Captain Wu, advanced into the eastern outskirts, their team of 5 members are included in the team lead by Caption Wu. Ye Fan and his teammates gathered their equipment, unlike their previous mission. Now, they are allocated Tier 1 weapons which include modified guns, ammunition boxes, and other recovery potions. After an exchange of words, the team geared up for the challenges they were about to face.

Ye Fan turned to his fellow teammates. "Stay alert, everyone. These Blood Suckers might be small, but their speed and flight make them dangerous. We need to work together, watch each other's backs, and report any unusual findings immediately."

Lin Xiaoqiao, nodded in agreement. "I'll take the lead and scout ahead. If there's any sign of those Blood Suckers, I'll give the signal. Let's keep communication clear and concise."

Su Mu interjected firmly, "No, you're staying together with us. These Blood Suckers move in groups. It's dangerous to go alone. We stick together, making it harder for the Blood Suckers to catch any of us off guard."

With their preparations and strategies in place, the team moved towards the outskirts of Zone D3, as their mission location was in the middle of the forest without proper roads, they had to walk. The air was thick with tension, each member's senses heightened as they moved in unison through the dense vegetation.

Captain Wu led the way, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings as they ventured deeper into the designated zone, providing more details about the Blood Suckers they were about to face. "According to reports, there is a new Monster Den nearby. Producing monsters continuously to attack nearby creatures, they attack in swarms of 10 to 20 and are drawn to strong spiritual energy or blood essence. Once they latch onto a target, they drain both spiritual power and blood, the larger ones are particularly dangerous, possessing stronger abilities."

As they neared the target area, an unnatural stillness enveloped the surroundings. The team moved cautiously through the dense foliage, the atmosphere thick with tension. Captain Wu, with a subtle hand gesture, signaled the team to halt. "From here, small teams will divide into different locations to cover more ground. Ensure you return to the base by evening," he instructed, emphasizing the importance of reconvening.

All the members of the team nodded in understanding as they dispersed into smaller groups, each assigned to investigate a specific area. Ye Fan and his companions moved in their designated direction. As they ventured deeper, the foliage became denser, casting elongated shadows that seemed to dance in the filtered sunlight. Su Mu, at the forefront with her fiery spiritual power, illuminated the path ahead.

Suddenly, a subtle buzzing sound filled the air, causing the team to tense. Lin Mo, signaled for the others to halt. The buzzing intensified, and from the shadows emerged a group of fist-sized Blood Suckers, their translucent wings flickering as they hovered menacingly.

Without hesitation, Su Mu unleashed a burst of flames, creating a barrier between the team and the approaching threat. The Blood Suckers recoiled from the flames, their high-pitched hisses resonating through the air. Capitalizing on the moment, Ye Fan directed his Titan Wood Sprouts to establish a defensive perimeter around the team. Amidst the chaos, he spotted a pack of five fist-sized blood suckers advancing towards them. Lin Xiaoqiao positioned in the rear, aimed her firearm in an attempt to neutralize the threat. However, the blood suckers' agile movements made accurate shooting a daunting task. Ye Fan keenly observed their speed and, leveraging his spiritual eye, accessed the attribute panel of one of the blood suckers.
