Awakening: 1000 Years In The Future

Sable lay mangled and bloody on the hospital bed as surgeons walked helplessly out the room as a layer of death loomed over his face. He lay there, taking his last breaths with regret. If he hadn’t helped his best friend fulfill their love in stead of his own, would she be crying for him? If he hadn’t brought the two so close would the crash still have happened? Was it too much to ask for someone to cry for him in his final throes? As streams of regret-filled tears ran down the sides of his face, he came to a conclusion. As long as those two were safe and happy, everything would be fine. If he had another chance, another life, he would definitely fulfill his own desires…. Sable’s thoughts faded into nothingness when an explosion suddenly rocked him back awake. “SABLE! GET TO YOUR BATTLE-STATION WE’VE ARRIVED!”….

The Beginning

"He is in a stable condition. Thank you for your patience. Once he fully stabilizes, we'll allow you to visit him."

The doctor left the lobby as the girl crumpled onto the floor, crying in relief. She couldn't have imagined what she would do if he had died. He was the love of her life, someone she hadn't thought she would end up ever until her best friend had introduced him to her. Oh wait... her best friend...

Sable lay mangled and bloody on the hospital bed as surgeons walked helplessly out the room as a layer of death loomed over his face.

He lay there, taking his last breaths with regret. If he hadn't helped his best friend fulfill their love instead of his own, would she be crying for him? If he hadn't tried to matchmake the two would the crash still have happened? Was it too much to ask for someone to cry for him in his final throes?

Sable wished he hadn't dove into the wreck to save them. But if he left only one of the two alive, he didn't know how he would forgive himself.

No. He wouldn't allow himself to not save them. He just couldn't leave one of them to die. And he hated himself for that.

As streams of regret-filled tears ran down the sides of his face, he saw the doctors sombrely leaving the room one by one, he caught a glimpse of 'her', crying for the other. Sable wondered if she would cry the same way for him. He wondered if they would even care, or even notice his absence.

He smiled slightly as his tears kept rolling down. Right.... the two lovebirds probably didn't care about him.

If he had another chance, another life, he would definitely fulfill his own desires….

Sable's thoughts faded into nothingness when an explosion suddenly rocked him back awake.

"SABLE! GET TO YOUR BATTLE-STATION WE'VE ARRIVED!"….
