Average Transmigrator

When truck-san(not necessarily truck-san) hits and you wake up in another world, you expect a protagonist's life, a system, some cheat power and maybe a harem. But what would you do when the person in front of you tells you that you aren't special. That you are one of the many thousands of people over the course of this world's history who transmigrated to this world. Daren starts his journey as a transmigrator on new-earth, trying to get by everyday and finding his goals, dreams, and many more that the new world has to offer. Disclaimer: I'm not going for a harem or an op character. I'm just trying to write a story where the character does not have to fight tooth and nail every day just to live. To me, it doesn't feel as realistic. I'll be writing something a bit less fast-paced. People can check out the chapters and let me know if they like them. I hope everyone enjoys it.

Terrified, Daren stared at Kevin who was talking about killing him when Kevin spoke, "Don't worry. There is no indiscriminate killing of earthlings who migrate through the portals. We need you to go through few tests as I have mentioned before. These tests help determine if you are a threat or an asset. If the results are not satisfactory, then you will be transported to Aleteia, which is the earthling kingdom. They will take care of the execution after a trial if need be." Saying so, Kevin observed that Daren was even more terrified but he chose not to pay it any mind.

He pulled the cloth off of whatever Kyle was holding and said, "This is truth seer crystal ball. It is imbued with a mixture of mind and soul magic which helps us determine if what you are saying is true or false. Now, please place your hand on the ball and answer our questions truthfully." He waited for Daren to place his hand while Kyle moved the ball closer to Daren.

Shakily, while still thinking about his possible execution, he raised his hand and placed it on the ball. Immediately, he could feel his mind calm down and all thoughts about the extraction took a backseat. When trying to focus on the reason for his mind calming down, Daren could clearly feel some sort of numbness in his head. He raised his other hand to his head to check his head and nothing felt different. Kyle spoke this time, "This is a part of the magic the ball contains. It will wear off immediately after you remove your hand from the ball. The magic is there specially to calm down the person and let them answer without any nervousness. Now, listen to the questions my brother asks and please answer appropriately."

Kevin took out a sheet of paper and Kyle also took out a sheet and a black-colored pencil.

****The below conversation will be between Kevin and Daren while Kyle is jotting down notes. *****

Kevin: What is your name and age? How did you die?

Daren: My name is Daren and I'm 22 years old. I fell down an escalator and bled to death after hurting my head.

The ball glowed with a green color and Kyle marked down something on a paper he took out.

Kevin: Did you kill anyone on earth?

Daren: No

Green ball and Kyle marking on sheet.

Kevin: Were you a part of any political party or have you ever tried to influence the masses through words or actions?

Daren: Except for my time as an orator at my school and debate club, I have never influenced the public.

Green ball and Kyle marking on sheet.

Kevin: Did you commit any theft or cheated anyone?

Daren: No. I have never cheated or committed any theft.

Green ball and Kyle marking on sheet.

Kevin: Did you study and what is your branch of study if you studied?

Daren: I completed my engineering in computer science.

Green ball and Kyle marking on sheet.

Kevin: Okay, looks like there is no problem with you and you also seem like a good seedling. Don't worry, Daren, you are not going to be hurt. We have to do these tests because of a few unfortunate incidents in the past. Now, for the next set of tests, Kyle, bring over the body and mana testers.

After hearing this Kyle removed Daren's hand away from the ball slowly, covered it up with the cloth and left the room. After around a minute or so of waiting, he came back with two lunch carts with different apparatus on both carts. Kevin spoke, "One of these carts holds a device to test the potential of your physical body while the other cart has a device that measures your mana and soul potential."

Daren, now a bit calm knowing that he won't be killed immediately after coming to a new place, nodded at Kevin understandingly. Kevin moved one of the carts closer to Daren and spoke, "This is a martial body tester and we would need a few drops of your blood for this test." Saying this, Kevin took out an injection of some sort, held Daren's right hand and looked for the vein. Once he found the vein, he murmured some words while pressing on the vein. Daren could see that silver vapor was collecting over his arm and stayed for a moment after which it disappeared. "This is sanitizing the skin before collecting the blood." He pushed the needle into the vein and Daren did not feel much pain. He could guess that Kevin had done it many times. He could see the syringe filling up with blood. Kevin pulled out the needle and again murmured some words causing the needle bite to completely heal up. He said, "This is healing magic and the sanitization magic before also comes under healing magic."

Kevin put the syringe into the device which had a holder for the syringe. The device lit up and a bluish screen was visible. It looked like a tiny television. The screen was going through the seven colors repeatedly for a minute. The colors were violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. The device slowed down and stopped at the green with a hint of blue. Kevin and Kyle showed looks of surprise after seeing the blue on the screen. "This is a good evaluation even among earthlings and extremely good in terms of the tellurian society as a whole. It will help with your future endeavors greatly if you make use of this aptitude well," said Kyle.

Kevin spoke, "A titbit of information, green color for martial aptitude means that you could raise to the ranks of captains in armies or be a well-to-do adventurer if you put in the effort. As a means of ranking aptitude, it is based on the colors violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red with violet being the highest and red being the worst aptitude. Anyways, now is the time for testing your mana potential. For this, we will have you go through the same process as the crystal ball. You need to keep your hand on the device and wait while the device does its thing. You will feel a tingle in your brain. Don't remove your hand until we tell you to do so."

Saying that he pulled the cart holding the martial body tester away and brought the other cart over. It had a flat screen embedded into it that was parallel to the lunch cart. Daren put his hand over the screen and closed his eyes. He could slowly feel something entering his hand while the screen lit up. It slowly traveled up his arm to his neck and then into his brain. He could feel the tingling in his brain. It felt like he smoked a cigarette for the first time. After a few moments, the feeling subsided and he heard Kevin say, "This is bloody good!! You have a blue color aptitude for mana which is an excellent result. Congratulations, Daren. You will have a bright future regardless of where you travel to in Tellus. Blue mana potential and green martial aptitude mean you could very well raise to the ranks of high generals or ministers in court."

Daren was overcome by emotions and started tearing up a bit since this was the first good thing that happened to him since his death and coming to this world. He thought back to how terrified he was and the roller coaster of emotions. Now, he had some confidence return to him.

While Daren was thinking about this, Kevin thought, "It is a good thing elder brother did not behave too rudely with him. With this person's potential, administrators could have created a lot of problems for us. We could lose our jobs and more. Phew!"

Kyle who was noting down the results of all the tests said, "Now you need to attend school for the next 3 months and complete the basic curriculum before you can go back to Aleteia. You need to study Tellus's history, geography, and few other subjects. Also, you need to attend body conditioning classes and mana training classes before you start on your journey. Until then, Gerard kingdom is your home."

Kevin who was listening said, "This town is called Headrock transmigrator city or Headrock city in short. Don't wander unnecessarily. We will escort you to the boarding school and the earthlings there will take care of you."

Daren had a stupid look on his face when he said, "Study? Isn't this a magic and martial arts world?" Both looked at him like he was an idiot and Kevin said, "We live in a developed society. This is not some fantasy world where there is no need to study or the civilization is in its infancy. Education is as important as growing your physical, mental, and soul. Also, you'd be screwed over by others if you keep thinking so naively. Study so you are not a burden to your kingdom or they will trash you out."

This monologue of Kevin's made Daren have cold sweats and he realised how real the situation was. No amount of talent would help him if he did not put in enough hard work. He could not make mistakes or relax until he knew could survive on his own. He had to fight once more to have a good and stable life. With these thoughts, he resolved his determination and looked at Kevin for further instructions.
