Chapter 45

Chapter 45: Till the End of Their Days

"None of your business, so leave."

Han Qiuyue waved her hand dismissively as her killing intent disappeared.

The other two elders looked at Han Qiuyue's face, wondering what she was planning.

Her face remained the same as always, cold and indifferent, which made the two unable to figure out what she was thinking.

Lan'er also noticed the new arrivals so she withdrew her sword. She acted as if she didn't see Han Qiuyue anymore and went beside Jingfei to check on her brother's condition with her qi.

Feeling slightly infuriated, the two elders' brows twitched and a stiff smile appeared on their faces.

However, they were simply ignored by Han Qiuyue as she continued to speak to the group of youths.

"Relax. Your brother will wake up in a few days. It's just that he suffered a little bit of damage to his soul, but he should be fine after he gets some rest."

Han Qiuyue stood before the group and stretched out her hand towards Zed. His body began to regain a healthy hue as his internal injuries were instantly healed.

Jingfei's eyes sparkled in wonder when she saw the mature woman heal her brother.

It only took seconds before Han Qiuyue retracted her arm. After healing the boy, she observed the expressions of the three girls.

All three of them had a wary look while meeting her eyes.

Without minding their gazes, Han Qiuyue continued to speak.

"At dawn, we leave, so pack up your belongings and make sure to travel lightweight."

As she said this, she turned her back to them and returned to where she was standing before, leaving the entire group confused.

The two elders were even more confused by the incomprehensible actions of elder Han.

"Oh? You two are still here? I thought I told you two to leave." Han Qiuyue said without glancing towards the two elders.

Her tone and attitude made it seem like she did not even put the two elders in her sights.

"You!!" The short brawny elder trembled in anger, nerves appearing on his forehead.

If she had not been the sole disciple of the sect leader, he would have long put her in her place!

But with age comes wisdom, and he too was a cultivator in the peak nascent soul stage.

So, he soon regained control of his anger, and with a single breath, his turbulent emotions calmed down.

Han Qiuyue's usually indifferent eyes grew cold as she looked at the two elders and spoke in a stern manner, "Stop acting cool short stuff. I said leave."

"!!!"

Instantly, the short brawny elder grew beet red. His face distorted while his body began to tremble in rage.

Mentioning his height was one of his reverse scales.

Seemingly unaffected by the short brawny elder, Han Qiuyue simply glanced towards the long purple haired elder.

The latter sighed before holding the short, brawny elder's shoulder.

"We should leave." He spoke.

His voice sounded deeper than his stature, but there was a hint of authority in it.

The short brawny elder looked at him with rage in his eyes, but when he felt the grip on his shoulder tighten, he realized that he had to accept it.

He could suffer a little humiliation today, but just like every other elder in the sect, they would have their revenge on this cocky upstart!

So, what if she was a generational genius? So, what if she was in the same cultivation stage as them? Someone needed to put her in her place!

He silently vowed this in his heart while turning his back and descending from the platform.

The long purple haired elder simply glanced at the group of youths one last time before following behind the short, brawny elder.

After the two left, Han Qiuyue spoke which gathered the attention of the group on the platform.

"Now. You three should have an idea of what my position is in the sect so consider yourselves lucky.

I have personally chosen all four of you to become..." She looks them in the eyes.

"My junior disciples."

"Hm? Not disciples?" The King muttered in a low voice, but it was loud enough for everyone to hear.

"You asked me to take care of your daughter, right? Don't worry, we'll have the best master." She spoke with confidence.

Meixiang asks, "Who is your master?"

Once again, the usual stone-faced beauty smirked as she responded with a vague answer.

"You'll see... tomorrow. So now pack up your things. I want to leave as soon as possible."

She chuckled inwardly when she thought of giving her master a heart attack.

Four generational monsters, she would be handing them over to her master.

'Let's see if my master still has the time to bother me in my cave again...'

Jingfei, Meixiang, and Lan'er could only trust what the stone-faced female elder said and let Zed recover. They also didn't object to her suggestion of being her junior disciples because she seemed to have a powerful backer in the sect.

Powerful enough to make the other elders back off.

While Meixiang and Lan'er were busy trying to figure out what the stone-faced female elder's identity was, Jingfei sat down and placed Zed's sleeping head on her lap.

Seeing the peaceful and defenseless face of her handsome brother, she couldn't resist the urge to caress his soft hair.

She felt at ease whenever her fingers brushed against her brother's hair.

Suddenly, it was as if they were in a world of their own, as Jingfei's mind was filled with appreciating her brother's face.

Even though the sun was directly above them, a cool and gentle breeze from the sea constantly blew past them, bringing them a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere.

"Fei."

Lan'er's voice brought Jingfei back to reality, as she realized that everyone on the platform was looking at her.

"Yes?" She smiled while acting as if their stares didn't bother her.

"Haven't you been listening?"

Jingfei looked at her best friend and answered innocently. "Yes?"

Lan'er and Meixiang sighed before telling her that they were going to rest in the royal palace.

Jingfei nodded, before getting informed that they were simply waiting for the royal carriage so they would move sooner or later.

A few minutes later, the royal carriage arrived and Meixiang and the others were escorted inside. They didn't forget to wear their hoods so nobody could tell who they were.

Meixiang noticed that the head of the Shi clan, Jingfei's father, was constantly glancing towards their direction, as if he was trying to identify each one of them.

Lan'er and Meixiang briefly glanced at each other. They were slightly concerned, since Jingfei acted as if she hadn't seen her father.

After all of them entered the carriage, the coachman immediately set off towards the Royal Palace.

Remaining on the royal family's platform, The King and Han Qiuyue were the only two left.

"You can head back too, King Xia." Han Qiuyue said.

The King shook his head. "No. It is my duty as the King to oversee this entire event. At the very least, I must be here until noon."

"Is that so..." She muttered before looking back into the entrance of the Gord.

Ten youths were kicked out and the Cleansing Jade Sect Disciples sent them away.

While watching this, Han Qiuyue's face remained blank, making it impossible to tell what she was thinking of.

-

In the royal palace, Meixiang could be seen standing in front of the door to her bed chambers.

When they arrived earlier, she sent Jingfei and the others to settle down in her room, while she wrote a detailed report of what had happened during the past few years.

However, she left out multiple pieces of information, such as her master, the peak of the beak-shaped mountain, the unusual tree, and many more things.

Instead, she wrote down her improvements during the past years as well as the hardships she went through.

She also wrote false information about her cultivation stage, but she did not feel guilty since she had reasons for doing these things.

Following her master's advice, she decided to keep her true strength a secret until she reached the peak of cultivation in the mortal realm which is the peak of the nascent soul stage.

Only when she possessed absolute power would she make her move in this world. She would wipe out all her family's enemies including the traitorous clan, the Tian Family.

A cold glint appeared in her eyes as she remembered the reports about the hidden war that was happening throughout the past years.

Taking a deep breath, she cleared her mind of the Kingdom's affairs since what she was about to do was resolve a knot in her junior sister's heart.

Clack.

Opening the double door, her large and luxurious room was empty except for the sleeping boy lying in her royal bed. Looking around her room, she found that everything remained the same. Her room remained clean and dustless even though no one had been using it for the past three years.

Walking towards the balcony, she found Lan'er and Jingfei sitting by a small, finely designed tea table. They remained quiet while watching the city view which was lit up by countless lanterns, making the city seem like a gathering of countless fireflies.

There was a unique sense of ambience while they appreciated this scene. Accompanying them was the magnificent moon that shined brightly with stars stretching throughout the night skies.

Seeing this view, Meixiang finally felt like she was truly at home. This was the very same view that she had been looking at since her childhood.

After fifteen minutes of silence, Meixiang finally spoke.

"Fei'er...."

Jingfei turned to Meixiang with a sweet smile. "Yes, Sis Mei?"

"How do you..." Meixiang was hesitant to ask the question directly.

"Hm?" Jingfei tilted her head slightly, as she waited for her sister Mei to complete her sentence.

Seeing the sightly troubled look on their sister Mei's face, Lan'er sighed and spoke to Jingfei.

"Sis Mei and I were wondering about how you felt about your family."

Lan'er's normally confident face became conflicted as she continued. "Did you miss your family and... do you regret coming with us?"

She knew it was a stupid question to ask, but her heart could not feel at peace because, unlike them, her best friend Jingfei had a family.

The atmosphere turned silent for some time while Meixiang and Lan'er patiently waited for Jingfei's reply, who suddenly took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

After a minute of silence, Jingfei made a small smile while keeping her eyes closed.

"No... I do not regret coming with you. I admit, some part of my heart misses my family because I could not help but yearn for their love, but..."

Opening her brilliant golden eyes, she looked at her two sisters with a sincere and heartwarming gaze. Her smile grew wider and softer as she tried to give her greatest show of appreciation.

She continued, "The love that my current family gives is more than enough."

Looking at her senior sister, Meixiang, and her best friend, Lan'er, she bowed her head.

"Thank you for accepting this immature self into your family."

Meixiang's lips quivered as she could not stop herself from leaning forward to pull her junior sister into a hug. Similarly, Lan'er stood up from her seat and wrapped her arms around the two.

All three of them enjoyed this precious moment of peace and unity. Feeling the warmth and comfort from one another, the three took a deep breath while feeling thankful for each other.

At the same time, they all spoke. "Sisters... forever."

They did not need to be afraid to face the future, because, they knew that they would never be alone. They would always be their to support and help one another no matter the cost.

If the world were to stand against one of them, the others would not hesitate to stand beside their sister.

This was the silent vow that each of them took.

The vow that they kept till the end of their days.
