Tonsil Hockey

Monday finally arrived, and it took so long to get here. No student ever looks forward to Monday, especially when you've had the best weekend of your life. But then again I'm the expectation.

I made it to class just before the first bell rang to meet up and chat with Cleo. I guess you could say she met me halfway. While I was grabbing my books from my locker she came up behind me and with a sweet voice said, "Hi"

Turning around I greeted her with a smile and replied, "Hey, how are you"

Our conversation was simple, mostly asking each other about our weekends and what we did. Instinctively I felt everyone around us were staring right at us, wondering why a high class girl would ever hold a conversation with me, especially on a Monday morning.

But I took no care to their looks, I just continued on with our conversation.

"Ring, Ring", there goes the first bell.

I knew I had to go to class now, but the conversation was just too good to leave. But I guess on this Monday that's usually comes with the Monday Blues, my Monday seemed to be a lot different.

"What are you doing today during your free period", Cleo asks me.

"Uhm, nothing much. I usually just find a quiet place and draw in my Art book", I reply.

"Really, well maybe I can join you today. My music teacher called in sick today, so I'm pretty much free during that period. We could finish our conversation. Well that's if you allow me to buy into your time", she says.

"Sure. I'd love that", I said in a cheerful voice.

"Cool. It's a date", she says while walking to her first lesson.

"A date", my mind is pretty amazed at the fact that she'd said that. I mean one wouldn't call it a date, it's just two people having a simple conversation. I'd say it's just catching up. But I choice not over think it.

During all my lessons before my, "Date", I literally spent my time counting the hours till my "Date". Every lesson I walked out of, came with a much larger smile on my face. I thought of all the things I could tell Cleo during our "Date",and all the things I did this past weekend. But a thought kept running through my mind, an ongoing question.

Is Cleo crushing on me?

Every time I asked myself the question I felt sillier and sillier about it. But it would make sense, it would explain why she even talks to me and is even willing to continue our conversation. Still I didn't want to read the signs wrong, so I found it best not to think about it.

The free period FINALLY arrived. I was so excited, that I couldn't contain it. I met up with Cleo along the hallway. "Soooo, where do you want to go chill", I asked her.

Without hesitation, she grabbed my hand, pulling me and saying, "Come I know a place"

The place in question was a secret hideout for all the students who wanted to do "some things" that needs some privacy to do. I never really hung around this area of the school, because it was a place where you and (For lack of better word) your Bae, come to play tonsil hockey, if you know what I mean. That question in my mind started to rise up, "why would she bring me to such a place unless she has some other questionable motives"

We did as planned and continued on our conversation.

The conversation seemed to be going well, but it was starting to dry out. We got to the point where all our responses were "okay and cool" There was this awkward pause between us, as if something was about to happen. Cleo eyes were hinting at something, I just couldn't read what they were saying. Her look said, "I'm waiting for something"

I gulped down some spit, and bit on my tongue.

I could tell she wanted more than just to talk, I just couldn't figure out what it was. My two brains were yelling at me, "Go for it", my heart was yelling back the opposite response in fear. I opened my mouth slightly, ready to risk it all, but my risk was soon taken away from me by the ringing Bell.

"Ooooou, is it time already. I need to get to my next lesson now", she said that while grabbing her things. We said our goodbyes for the day and I watched her walk away.

As I watched her my insides were yelling at me, "Dude, you blew your chance"

And I honestly have to agree with them all.
