1 Prime?

" What happened me? Where am I?"

The man asked as he looked around his surroundings unsure of what had happened to him.

" Okay, calm down. Remember what happened. You were walking down the street reading. What were you reading? Argh!"

The young man yelled as he grasped his ears in pain. The sudden number of voices and noises shaking the man's ears.

" What's going on so many cars, so many voices! It hurts!"

The man yelled in pain. He held his hand out looking at it strangely as images flooded his vision. Images of the bones in his hands down to the atoms flashed before him.

" My vision! X-ray?"

The man questioned as he looked down at his bones. Suddenly a sizzling noise could be heard. The man could feel a strange heat coming from his eyes, suddenly a blast of energy came out of the man's eyes.

" My eyes! Heat vision?! These powers, Superman? Am I Superman?"

The man questioned.

" I've got to focus. Focus. Focus."

The man said as he took a deep breath. He took several deep breaths breathing in and out slowly. The noises and images flooding his senses slowly subsided.

" Hear what you want to hear. See what you want to see. Focus. Okay! I'm okay."

The young man said to himself trying his best to keep calm.

" Damn it Jay what kind of mess is this?"

The young man now known as jay asked himself.

' Okay, got to figure this out. Where am I?"

Jay asked as he looked around surroundings.

" Okay, I'm in a city. But which city, this place is much bigger than Portsmouth. New York maybe?!"

Jay questioned.

Jay stumbled through the city getting various glances of confusion.

' Wonder what they're looking at.'

Jay thought as he walked through the street, feeling the gazes of the people.

" Okay, I've got to find a mirror or something to figure out why these people are staring at me."

Jay said to himself as he continued walking down the street.

" Ahhh! She's gonna jump!"

Jay heard yelled from afar.

' What the hell? Surely someone else heard that right?'

Jay wondered as he looked around. He noticed the faces of the people locked on him.

' Are they expecting me to do something about this. I haven't even had powers for a full day yet. I don't even know how to fly or move fast yet.'

Jay questioned as he looked at the people.

Suddenly his attention was drawn by the police cars and other rescue vehicles driving by.

' Oh man, Guess I'm jumping into the deep end. Okay focus.'

Jay thought. He took a deep breath and relaxed his muscles.

" Here goes nothing."

Jay said. He went to take a step and the world around him seemed to move in slow motion.

' This feels amazing!'

Jay thought as he moved towards the source of the screams. Jay arrived in front of the police stopping just in front of an officer.

" What's going on officer?"

Jay asked

" Who are you? Listen we don't need your help, okay? Whoever you are. We got this"

The officer stated as he continued setting up the spotlight.

" Yeah, well I'm going to go see if I can help anyway."

Jay responded to officer as he walked away from him.

' Okay, flight. How did superman do it.'

Jay thought. Jay closed his eyes and took another deep breath. Jay relaxed his muscles and envisioned himself flying, his thoughts causing his body to naturally follow the order. He began floating off the ground slightly.

' I did it! Okay, let's just take this easy.'

Jay thought to himself. He gently pushed forward and began flying up towards the woman slowly.

" Hello Ma'am. I thought we might talk for a second it seems like you've been through a lot lately."

Jay said to the crying woman, who had been crying into her lap, the woman looked up at the man in front of her and got to her feet angrily.

" Don't you Dare touch me. That's what you want isn't it? Wait until I drop my guard and then you grab me and take me back down by force! Because you can. Because you're stronger than me! Because you know I can't stop you!"

The woman yelled out in frustration.

" No ma'am. I give you my word I just want to talk to you, maybe there's another way we can solve your problems. I don't want to see you make a mistake. But I will give you my word if you talk to me and decide you still want to jump, I won't stop you. Deal?"

Jay asked the woman hoping she would be willing to hear him out.

" Okay."

The woman replied trying to wipe the tears from her eyes.

" What's going on up there chief, who is that guy? Why hasn't he brought the woman down yet?"

One of the officers asked the police chief.

" I don't know."

The man replied as he watched the two in the air.

" What do you want to know?"

The woman asked jay.

" Everything. Everything's that's bothering you. Everything that you feel is hurting you. All of it."

Jay replied to the woman. She wiped her eyes and began telling him her story.

" After I buried my mom. I stood there after everybody else had left. And I thought is this it? I mean, is this all there is? Working in a cubicle six days a week until I'm too old to do it anymore, then I die? Is that it? Is that what we're here for? What's the point? When I graduated high school, I thought--We all thought--We're gonna go off and do great things. We're gonna change the world. Save the world. If somebody said " Hey, you're gonna pump gas your whole life." Or " Better get used to cleaning up after people because that's going to be your whole life." We'd have laughed at them. IT'S NOT FAIR! None of its fair and don't you dare tell me it is."

The woman explained to Jay her life story, her problems and pains, yelling at him in his face not to tell her she's wrong.

" Here we are folks we are live in downtown New York where a woman was looking to jump is now having a conversation with a new superhuman."

The new reporter stated as they flew over the skyscraper the two were on.

" Let's listen in and see if we can hear what they're talking about."

The reporter stated

" I won't. Because you're right. It's not fair. John Lennon is dead and Moammar Kadaffi is still alive. J.F.K is dead, and Castro is alive. Gandi is dead but Manson keeps hanging in there. It's not fair. But it's not unfair either. It just is."

Jay explained to the crying woman.

" That's it. That's the best you can do. " It's neither fair nor unfair, it just is."

The woman smiled as she continued wiping the tears from her eyes.

" Because that's the truth. You're right when you say we all come out of high school thinking we're going to save the world. And sometimes we do. And sometimes--"

Jay was explaining before his mind temporarily wandered to the past.

" Sometimes we don't. So, you don't think about saving the world. You just think about saving one person. Because sometimes, that's enough. All I know is that we have to try. That's what life is, we try. We push back against the darkness. Just a little we--"

Jay was explaining to the woman before she cut him off.

" Can we... Just not talk about this anymore for a while? My head hurts. I've been crying all day, I just... I just want to rest for a bit."

The woman asked tiredly.

" Okay. You rest, I'll be here when you're ready to talk."

Jay explained to the woman and true to his word he sat there with the woman for hours. All through the morning all through the afternoon, through the evening, and into the night Jay sat there waiting for the woman to be ready

" Can you have them turn that off? It hurts my eyes."

The woman asked as the police spotlight shined in her eyes.

' Okay got to focus.'

Jay thought, he turned his head and focused intently on the spotlight cable, he used his heat vision to sever it causing the spotlight to turn off.

" Is that better?"

Jay asked the woman.

" Yes, thank you."

The woman replied once again slipping into silence.

The two sat there for a little while longer before the woman spoke again.

" Lot of people down there..."

The woman stated as she looked down at the crowd.

" Yes, I've seen people splattered on the sidewalk before. Are you sure you want to do that to them?"

Jay asked

" I don't know... I feel like I don't know anything anymore. I don't know what to do."

The woman replied.

" Can I make a suggestion? A friend of mine, many years ago, took her own life. She was terminally ill, every day was an agony, and she decided one day that she knew--knew without question--that she would never have another happy day. And she...well I guess you could say she checked out early. I understood. I didn't approve. I still don't. But I understood. If you honestly believe, in your heart of hearts, that you will never, ever have another happy day...then step out into the air. I'll keep my promise. I won't stop you. But if you think there's a chance--No matter how small--That there might be just one more happy day out there--Then take my hand"

Jay explained to the woman, he reached out his hand and waited for the woman to make her decision. She waited for a moment deciding whether or not to take his hand. After a moment she took a step towards him and took his hand.

" It'll be alright. You're safe. You're safe."

Jay said as he held the woman tightly in his arms.

" Okay. Okay. Okay."

The woman cried as he held her.

" Can I ask your name ma'am.

" Sarah. It's Sarah."

The woman responded.

" Well Sarah, I don't know if it matters to you or not, but you really are one of the most beautiful women I've ever laid my eyes on."

Jay said as he wiped the tears from the woman's face.

" Let's get you down to the ground."

Jay said as he started too softly lower towards the ground.

" What's your name sir?"

Sarah asked.

Jay looked up into the building and for the first time saw his reflection on the windows.

' What the?! I'm not superman! This Armor, how could I have never noticed!'

Jay thought as he looked upon his visage.

" Superboy-Prime! Or just Prime for short."

Jay responded.

" Thank you Prime."

The woman said as the two landed gently on the ground. The crowd that had been watching erupted into cheers as the two returned safely.

Jay turned around to see many familiar faces.

' Spiderman, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, she-hulk, Daredevil, Captain America. I see marvel huh! Oh boy.'

Jay thought to himself.

" Will I see you again?"

Sarah asked

" If you want. All you need to do is call my name when you need me. Just promise me one thing, don't give up just yet."

Jay said before gently floating into the air. He gave a small smile to the onlookers before turning and flying off into the distance.

" I guess that was good way to make a debut. But what am I going to do about food and shelter? Guess I could make a home in Africa hahaha!"

Jay laughed as he flew in the air towards Africa.

" Superboy-Prime! What a powerhouse I've become. This should be fun."

Jay smiled as he thought about his new life excited over the possibilities that are to come. The dangers, the fights, the excitement of being able to live the ultimate power dream as one of the strongest Kryptonians to ever exist.
