The Curiosity of a Warrior

Once everyone had left the cabin where Thorian was, he remained alone, pondering the battle simulation he had been devising over and over again.

"How did you light that fire out of nowhere?" Suki was truly intrigued by this because she couldn't fathom where he could have ignited that fire.

Thorian understood the concerns of this warrior and said, "My mother was from the Water Nation, while my father belonged to the Fire Nation, so as their son, I inherited control over both elements."

"That's incredible..." Suki looked at both of Thorian's hands, each manipulating a different element.

"I don't usually use fire much due to my lack of self-control; I tend to damage many things when I use that power inherited from my father," Thorian said as he stood up and looked at Suki's armor, thinking of some way to get ideas for his own armor.

Suki also focused on Thorian's white hair and asked, "So, what happened to your parents?"

"Dead. They killed my mother in front of my eyes, and my father protected the village as much as he could so that everyone could escape. That was about four years ago. Since then, I've done everything in my power to keep everyone fighting and have taught them to defend themselves. Now we have the chance for a counterattack. No matter what happens, believe me, we will regain control of the sea." Thorian realized he was saying too much and left the cabin.

Suki quickly followed Thorian and asked, "Where are you going? We'll give you a cabin so you can spend the night. It's very cold, and you might get sick from being exposed to this weather at night."

Thorian remained silent, so Suki moved forward and stood in front of him.

"How did you get to the island without us noticing? We haven't seen any boats nearby, and you can't fly." Suki looked at Thorian with her large eyes, hoping for an answer to ease her doubts. She needed to gather a lot of information about this unknown boy so that her mother could trust him.

As they walked into the forest, Thorian looked up at the sky and said, "Through my Gryphon. He's quite shy, so don't startle him, or he won't eat for a week."

At that moment, a large figure fell from the sky. A huge Gryphon, with the front part resembling a giant eagle, has black feathers, a sharp beak, and powerful claws. The back part resembled a lion, with equally dark fur, muscular legs, and a long tail with purple hair.

The cautious Suki stepped aside and instinctively raised her hands upon seeing this creature she had never seen before. This seemed to bother Doki, who moved behind Thorian's back, ready to defend him from this strange woman.

"She's a woman; she just has face paint like all the Kyoshi warriors." Thorian was annoyed by Doki's mistrust. It all started after he told him that women would approach him to eat him in the future. He made that joke because everyone wanted to ride him, and Doki, who was very proud of flying solo, only let women ride him, but this became dangerous, so he reduced those flights. He never expected Doki to be vigilant with women, which has aroused certain distrust since then.

"Did you fly on him?" Suki lowered her hands and nervously looked at the flying creature.

Thorian stroked Doki's head and said, "He's my companion. When I was about to die, he saved me, and since then, we've been inseparable."

Doki showed a glorious look; he wanted this woman with the painted face to feel how incredible he was and to praise him as if he were a special guest.

Thorian's face didn't know how to react. He had spent most of his life training, killing, and thinking about war, so a part of him didn't know how to interact without any real intention.

"It's majestic, as if it were a guardian. Are there more of its kind?" Suki stroked Doki's fur, who closed his eyes when he felt he was being properly praised.

Thorian shook his head upon hearing this and said, "We haven't found any more Gryphons; I'm afraid they're very well hidden, or he's unique in the world."

"And can you fly on him?" Suki's eyes showed hidden excitement.

Thorian was very straightforward with his words, and in a situation where he didn't know how to distance himself from Suki, he asked her, "Do you want to take a ride?"

"Of course."

In truth, Thorian hoped she would refuse, but now that he had proposed this, there was no choice but to fly a little before sending the letter to the outpost they had been creating recently.

"Get down; let's take a ride." Thorian climbed onto Doki's back and extended his hand to Suki so she could sit in front of him. If, for some reason, there was an accident, all the plans he had made would collapse, and to be honest, he didn't want to give explanations.

When Doki felt both people on his back, he gave a serious look, wanting to scare this woman who wanted to fly with him.

At that moment, when Doki flapped his wings, he shot up into the sky at great speed, something he rarely did. Thorian was thankful for being so cautious because those who weren't used to flying this way might fall off Doki's back when he made unexpected maneuvers in the air.

Suki's face, if not for the paint, would have been pale, and she wasn't someone who showed her emotions like an ordinary person, so she simply held Thorian's hands tightly, which were holding onto some straps they were relying on.

"Take it slow, Doki, towards the wall," Thorian said as he looked at the excited Gryphon, who seemed to be trying to scare Suki with every turn he made in the air.
