3 An Unknown Spirit

The story goes that the world is divided into two great parts, defined by the time before the existence of a powerful being called the Avatar and after its existence, which completely changed the stability of the world.

Before this entity like the Avatar existed, it was said that protective beings of all possible imaginations that one could believe in existed and served humanity; these creatures served as platforms to build cities.

It was said that if one ventured into the Spirit Jungle, these same creatures would grant you the ability to control the element with which these beings were affiliated.

However, after the creation of the Avatar, the supernatural beings opposed their responsibility as protectors of humanity, and the people were in charge of building their own scattered houses throughout the world, which ultimately led to the division of the world into the four nations.

The most notable event to mention throughout history was the Great War that has not yet ended, also known as the Cursed War, and this, according to history books, is a great global military conflict that began with the genocide of the Air Nomads and lasted for an entire century.

The conflict erupted between the Fire Nation and the other three factions known as the Earth Kingdom, the Water Tribes, and the Air Nomads. However, over the course of the conflict's escalation, several smaller factions also became involved in the fight.

In the end, many who supported this war believed there was no reason to continue pushing it forward. This was because the massacres caused by this power war had caused countless unnecessary deaths, just like what had happened to Thorian, who had wanted to fight alongside his mother instead of fleeing like a damned coward.

But in such an unexplored world as this, many unimaginable things can happen, and that is exactly what can change the course of a story.

At some point in time, from an unknown place, Thorian slowly opened his sore eyes after some time. His body was numb, especially his arms and legs. He felt as if a great weight were upon his small body, and an uncontrollable shiver took over the few movements he could make.

Looking around, he could see that he was surrounded by creepy blue bones scattered disorderly around the dimly lit surroundings. There was also a strange blue substance further into this icy room, emitting blue rays with a sweet aroma.

"Ah... I must not die; I have to avenge my parents. I'm going to kill them all; they will die worse than the people in the village died today. I'll make them pay."

Thorian's heart began to race, and it hurt fiercely at that moment. After holding his head and groaning in pain, he felt that this anger was fueling the power of his special fire.

"I need to warm my body." Considering his priorities, Thorian had learned to control the flames with the help of his father, who had taught him a special method to boost those flames with hatred, resentment, and rage, something he didn't lack now.

A few minutes later, his body, especially his arms, began to fill with blue fire, giving him the ability to move his body.

The last thing he remembered was falling into the icy waters after being attacked with fire. Since his mother had died and his father had used that secret technique that made him explode, it was very likely that Thorian now had no one close in this life.

Now that he was only nine years old, he couldn't even kill an adult man, so it was pointless to seek revenge just yet.

He knew that there were many powerful warriors throughout history who had been infinitely powerful, and some of them were still alive, so he couldn't rush to take his revenge because he also didn't know where he was right now.

Looking around, this seemed to be a strange cave, a place where he couldn't see its exit or entrance.

But knowing that he wasn't weak to anyone at his age, Thorian, without paying attention to anything other than his body, made sure that no wound was too fatal.

A nine-year-old boy who had witnessed the death of his parents, how cruel could this world be where they would kill you even for having bread?

Thorian constantly thought about how he would kill those people who attacked his village. However, he couldn't forever lull himself into the feeling of revenge because it wasn't the right time yet.

There were many levels to controlling the elements; Thorian had inherited control of water from his mother and the blue flames from his father, making him a truly fearsome warrior.

Once Thorian could unleash his father's abilities, he could easily cause the same pain to the families of those who attacked his village.

After feeling for a while longer, Thorian knew he had been thinking about many things that were truly necessary. One thing he was sure of was that he would slowly take his revenge.

Feeling his control over the fire increasing, Thorian clenched his fists tightly as he remembered over and over again his mother's head being severed.

"Then take my power..."

Thorian turned around, his gaze reaching that substance levitating in the air while blue rays protruded, and in that instant, the entire cave glowed, illuminating large silhouettes drawn on the wall, holding a sword.

"Are you an ancient spirit?"

"Something more than that, many have forgotten me, and the moment I lost attention in this world, a scent similar to mine ended up making me open my eyes once again. I ask you, little human, what do you want power for?"

Crack!

At that moment, an ice dragon materialized in front of Thorian, who immediately, due to the shock, fell to his knees.

"Revenge... They killed many in my village; they beheaded my mother, who only did good for others; and they made my father commit suicide," said Thorian as he clenched his fists so tightly that blood slowly seeped into the ground.

The ancient dragon looked at the young child who met the requirements to inherit its power; it didn't care what its power would be used for because, in understandable terms, it would only be a settling of scores.

"What will you do after inheriting my power?"

Thorian didn't know; he really couldn't look beyond his revenge, so he said, "Stabilize the world, overthrow an oppressive nation, and if I have the energy, live protecting what I fought for."

Those who knew the sweet Thorian could well forget that cheerful child; now he could only be recognized by his rage and those eyes filled with a murderous intent that he didn't bother to hide.

"Then take the sword..."

Thorian looked at a sword stuck in the ground ahead, so he reached out his hand, and when he touched the hilt, his entire right arm froze, but there was no feeling of pain or a feeling of fear.

"Let's have some fun, young human; kill your enemies and show me how far your hatred is willing to go." A voice shouted that was slowly getting smaller, and without Thorian realizing it, his body began to change.

In just a few moments, his eyes changed to a bright blue color, and his previously black hair turned completely silver.

When Thorian went through this metamorphosis, he didn't open his eyes until later, after receiving a strange series of memories about techniques that manipulated ice and strange sword movements.

"I just need time..." Thorian murmured as a puff of steam escaped his mouth, forming a curtain of white vapor.
