Chapter 8: Vs Amon
After taking away Lightning Bolt Zolt's bending, Amon continued until all of the notorious criminals he brought had their bending taken away with Bolin the only one left.
"I've seen enough." Suddenly Jiran muttered on the sideline which made Korra and Mako look at him surprisedly.
Jiran walked in their direction and punched his hand in the air, unleashing an air bullet from his fist.
The air bullet traveled through until it finally reached its direction which was Amon.
"Ugh!" Caught by surprise Amon was flying back and was smashed into the stage wall.
The six chi-blockers looked in the direction of the wind attack with wide eyes and saw Jiran with his fist outstretched, two of them even recognizing the Airbender as they almost died by his hands the other day.
"Attack!" With that order the six chi-blockers pounced on Jiran.
In response to this, Jiran swiped his feet in the air making a sweeping kick and unleashing a powerful wind current that swiped the six of them away.
Without even giving any of them time to regain their bearing Jiran stomped off his foot into the ground propelling him upwards and in a succeeding motion opened his palm and pushed it towards them, once again creating an air pressure that slammed the chi-blockers into the ground.
In addition to that Attack, he slashed his hands down at them with a spin making a huge arc of wind resembling that of a blade descending from high above.
But his hand's trajectory was suddenly put off course when suddenly someone kicked it. Immediately putting off distance Jiran pushed his palm away and flew for several meters before spinning around generating motion and leveraging that momentum to launch a counterattack to the one who kicked his arm.
SWOOOOSHH!
However his wind attacked nothing but empty air, as the target managed to dodge his assault.
"For an Airbender you are very un-airbender like." Amon said to Jiran which made the latter chuckle.
"And for a supposed leader you're acting unleaderlike" Jiran rebutted, gesturing at Amon's cowardly hiding.
"HAHAHA! I like you, but unfortunately, you're a bender!" Amon jumped from his hiding place and rushed at Jiran at blinding speed. The six chi-blockers finally regained their bearing too but they were attacked by Korr and Mako.
"We'll take care of the Chi-blockers, you go fight Amon!"
Amon unmindful of his henchmen continued his stride, seeing these Jiran pushed himself off the ground levitating off from it by ten meters high.
Because of that maneuver Amon arrived at nothing but thin air as his target was off the ground. However this didn't disparage him as he threw some projectile at Jiran.
Jiran conjured a wind tornado with a twist of his hands and the projectiles were scattered. Then with his advantage of still being in mid-air Jiran made a small but highly concentrated wind ball attack at Amon and threw it at the latter.
The attack was deadly, as it was from a powerful and dense wind concentration, if anyone were to get hit by this they would surely be out.
Amon was directly below him so his aim was perfect but as he unleashed his highly concentrated air he felt a sudden tug of his wrist making his attack slightly off trajectory; missing Amon.
'What!? How did it miss? My aim was perfect!' Jiran shouted within his mind and used another wind pressure to push him away still in mid-air, then he landed away from Amon.
He then threw another wind at Amon this time it was not as deadly and he didn't feel the tug as Amon dodged it pretty well.
"HUP!" Pushing his palm he sent another wind palm air pressure which to Jiran's expectation Amon evaded.
He continued on to attack Amon with air pressure for some minute until he devised another plan to corner the latter once again.
Jiran sweeped his feet on the ground on a sweeping kick creating an arc of air to travel down the ground.
Amon saw this and jumped up to dodge, predicting Amon's response, Jiran punched his fist two times this time it was not aimed at Amon's body but his arms.
When the two air punch struck Amon this left a small split second gap that Jiran exploited. He placed his left and right palm facing each other horizontally and then a wind circle started to form.
Jiran sharpened that wind circle into razor sharp level and then threw it vigorously at Amon. Just like last time he felt a last minute tug which threw his attack off trajectory once again.
'I knew it!' Seeing the pattern, Jiran finally figured out what's happening. He stopped attacking Amon and spoke.
"You're a bender aren't you?" Bybthis accusation, Jiran felt Amon flich.
It may not be noticable but Jiran was using his air sensitivity on full swing so he noticed Amon's tiniest twitch of muscle.
"HAHAHA! As much as I want to laugh at it for its ridiculousness. I'm interested in what made you come to that conclusion?" Amon said while laughing but he can't hide from Jiran's senses.
"You may have fool everyone you met but you won't fool me."
"You dodge only when you know an attack doesn't pose any danger towards you but the moment you sense a real threat you use some kind of psychic bending to alter my hand's trajectory causing it to miss."
This can be observed when Jiran barraged Amon with his wind attacks. All of them were powerful of course but it was not enough to pose danger but when Jiran employed his razor-sharp wind wheel or his highly concentrated dense wind bullet, Amon used the psychic ability to put off Jiran's trajectory by a minuscule degree; barely noticeable.
"Not only that proves you're a bender but that also proves you're a waterbender, a bloodbender to be exact." Jiran declared.
This made Amon stiffen. A tense atmosphere suddenly permeated in the air. Jiran knew it, he hit the right nail.
Unfortunately, no one heard Jiran, as all of the chi-blockers as well Korra and Mako, with Bolin in tow were occupied fighting each other while the crowd was busy running away for their lives.
"You. You're dangerous." Amon said coldly.
