30 Chapter 30

Chapter 30:

A misty fog swept through the entire village, the fire being snuffed out suddenly by a mysterious force.

Vision became obstructed, hearts started to beat in disarray and fear started to spread.

"W-what's happening!?" Fear is the killer of the mind. As was told in the Dune series, which was a very correct and accurate statement looking at the state the bandits were put in.

The fog itself seems to carry some sort of fear inducing property; evident by the scared bandits.

"Steer your mind clear!!" Thankfully the leader wasn't someone who's mentality would crumble easily.

Well as expected from someone who came from the military. Most of the are actually from the military if you were to look at them.

They just look like a bunch of bandits due to their attire but they are mercenaries. They dressed up as a bandits because the one that hired them requested them to.

"Boss! What should we do?" Asked one of his subordinates.

The boss then looked at his subordinate before putting his eyes back on the fog. Then he swiped his fist in vigor creating a strong and powerful flame but that flame was devoured by the fog.

"We have no choice. We fight in blind!" Seeing that he can't sweep away the mist he came to the conclusion that it would be futile and a waste of effort and energy to disperse the mist.

With that resolution they huddled more closely and waited for the mysterious assailant to attack; to determine his direction.

Soon their patience paid off as a whistling sound was heard from the east.

"Aha! On the east!" One of the earthbender bandits exclaimed and punched his earthen wall producing some small debris and flunging them in that direction.

The invisible projectile met the stone shards and a small collision happened. Finally pinpointing the enemies position a barrage of attack from all two elements was unleashed in pure and agonizing fury.

Swing! Sling! Krish!

The collective sound of earthen projectiles resounded.

Fwoom! Swoosh! Skksssh!

And the scorching sound of fireballs and fireblast reverberated.

A symphony of violence. A symphony of illusory victory.

Their barrage stopped. As their energy was whooly depleted.

"I don't want to jinx it, but I think we finally got hi—" Before he could even finish conjuring his sentence his head burst in gore.

As if something exploded inside his head. It didn't stop there either as the person next to him suddenly fell to ground gasping for air before finally dying in suffocation.

" A monster!" There's nothing more accurate to describe the creature that hunts them at this moment.

Out of the original thirty two bandits, three were already killed. And it won't stop there.

"Fuck! Fuck! Stay close together! We have the upper hand in terms of numbers!" The leader shouted composing his team.

"That's right! He's only one we're—-"

And boom. Splat.

Once again another one died before finishing his words.

It seems that this monster has a bad habit of not letting other people finish their sentence.

What a bad monster it is.

"Okay! Fuck this show yourself! Or I will kill these children!" The leader shouted and pointed his fist at the children.

The children flinched and cried as they felt heat slowly emanate from the Mercenary Leader's fist.

"Help! Please help us!" They pleaded. It was so painful to hear such wail come from small children. They are so innocent yet they were already plunged to experience such horror.

"Shut up!" He roared. What an asshole.

"Reveal yourself or they die! Last call!" He shouted. But no one responded, the children's cry grew stronger.

"You brought this upon them! Their death will be in your hands!" This was his last straw. He pulled his fist back and gathered momentum, heat and flame started to manifest before the crevice of his fist.

Soon a pillar of flame roared out of his fist.

The world turned into slow motion. The gritted teeth of the leader, the beautiful flower-like flame, the cries of the children.

Everything turned slow; static and slow moving.

The flame slowly traveled the air, burning the oxygen in its path to maintain its combustion.

Soon as it was about to touch the poor hem of the young souls before him a sudden funnel of air manifested before the children.

The funnel devoured the flame and redirected it at the attacker.

"AAAAAARRRGHHHHHH!!" The fire that he so carelessly conjured came back to him in vengeance. He got burned by his own flame and soon his remains fell.

"The monster got the Leader!! Avenger him!" What would you avenge? Can you even achieve that?

When you can't even see your opponent how can you exact vengeance?

Probably annoyed by that guy's statement, his head was the third that exploded.

A cannon of air appeared out of nowhere and struck a full line of bandits killing them.

Then after that an obscure concentrated air bullet followed suit and killed five simultaneously.

It didn't stop there. From air blades, air bullets, razor tornado, vortex cannon, and suffocation.

All of it follows. And let's just say that no one died painlessly.

Let me reiterate that; no one died in peace.

Painful and excruciating deaths. How pitiful.

Soon after that massacre the earth laid caked with crimson icing. River of blood dripping down from the bodies of unfortunate mercenaries.

Organs and bodily fluid splashed all over the ground.

Everyone is dead with only one last remaining; the Vice-leader. The most unfortunate one as he witnessed the death of everyone, his leader and his members.

Fortunately enough the gore was hidden by the fog so the children didn't get to witness much. Which was for the best since this scene would traumatize them for the rest of their lives. Thankfully they also closed their eyes.

"W-what kind of monster would do this…? What kind of monster are you!?" He shouted. His voice was full of fury and anger.

From the mist a small opening appeared and from that small opening of clarity a peaceful looking monk appeared.

Garbed in an orange robe called Kasaya. Tattooed with blue arrows on his bald head and arms.

He looked at peace. He looked harmless. Yet the vice-leader knew this monk was the source of his disaster.

Then his eyes landed on the monk's feet and recognized the shoe he was wearing.

"You! You were the one that hired us!!" He shouted.

His fist clenched in fury and his teeth grinding.

"Amithabha." The monk said. An utterly unfamiliar word that no one has heard of.

"My friend, misinformation is a grave offense. Please take caution." The monk replied with a small smile.

"Stop with your bullshit! It was you! You were the one that paid us!" The vice leader was relentless.

"You have slaughtered the innocent people of this village. I am afraid you must pay the consequences." Then the monk stretched out his hands and did a pulling motion.

Suddenly a small wisp of wind escaped from the bandit's mouth, he watched as his breath was literally taken away from him.

Then in a graceful motion he let go of the air as if letting go of a daint flower.

And then he fell. Breathless and lifeless.
