15 Chapter 15

Chapter 15:

The two awkwardly stood up from their previous position, with still red faces they donned their clothes. Tense atmosphere hung in the air as if to provide stillness.

Korra looked down on the ground, though her face was still furiously blushing she managed to clothe herself fast.

Korra was very scared when Amon appeared, she felt hopeless and powerless. She felt like she was stuck in a muddy swamp surrounded by beasts unable to even defend herself.

But as she felt the world before her crumble, a single and powerful light appeared. Swooping down his adversary and saving her from the dark pit. She felt thankful and grateful however despite being saved, her emotion was still not in the right state.

She seeked comfort, warmth, love, and security. And she found what she was looking for in Jiran, that's why she did what she did but now that it is over, she can't help but feel ashamed.

'Ohh God… Jiran must be thinking I'm some easy to get girl…. This is so embarrassing'

Her mind was in turmoil. Thoughts flashing through her mind, then as she was struggling to keep her inner self in a calm state she heard Jiran speak.

"I'm sorry Korra, you must be feeling conflicted, don't worry this will be a secret." He said as he donned his last piece of cloth.

"You were taken over by your emotion and weren't in the right state of mind, don't worry I will forget that this happened and we can continue as we were." He said but these were not the words Korra wanted to hear.

Korra wanted Jiran to hug her, whisper in her ears that their relationship would continue and not hide it. She wanted Jiran to stay by her side, provide her the security and comfort he once provided like he did earlier.

"You are the Avatar and I'm only an insignificant part of your adventure… you have a bigger responsibility and I don't want to burden you any further…"

'No… this is not what I wanted to hear from you… I want you Jiran…' She was debating inside her mind. She wanted to scream and shout that Jiran was wrong but she was reminded of her duty as the avatar. As the keeper of balance in this world.

"I— I'm sorry for taking advantage of you, Korra" Said Jiran ashamedly bowing his head.

'No this is wrong… you haven't done anything wrong Jiran… please don't say that…' She wanted to yell but her mouth refuse to.

"T-that's fine…" that's all she managed to say. She looked at Jiran and saw a look of sadness on it, and at that sight she was once again struck by regret.

"We should go. Tenzin is probably worried at us right now."

*********

"Korra! Jiran! Thank God you two are okay!" On the harbor of Republic City, Tenzin ran towards the two in a worried manner.

"Are you two hurt? Did Amon ambush you?" The old monk asked worriedly inspecting their bodies up and down to see if there were some injury.

"Yeah, Amon did ambush Korra but thank god I made it on time" Jiran replied, hearing this Tenzin gritted his teeth in anger.

"That coward…!" He fumed, air around him started to rise up.

"Where is he!?" He asked furiously, his hand clenched in a fist as if ready to shoot out air at any moment.

Of course Jiran responded with a smirk of proud triumph. "Ran with his tail behind his legs"

"Good job, Jiran"Tenzin gave his airbender disciple a proud smile, however now that that concern was out of the way he noticed something between the two.

An awkward atmosphere, they were separated by an arms length despite coming back in pain on a small boat.

"Did something happen?" He asked. Which Korra blushed profusely in response, she put her face away and turned her head away from him.

'Oh… something must've really happened…' Tenzin machinated inside his mind.

"Ahem. Nothing happened Tenzin, can we go back now? I'm really starving, kicking some assholes took some energy" Jiran said, disrupting Tenzin's train of thought. At that word of nonchalance, Korra felt sad; and that reaction didn't go unnoticed on Tenzin.

Since it was already past midnight, dawn came after. After having a few hours of well deserved rest they had a classic air nomad breakfast.

"So how strong was Amon?" Tenzin asked Jiran, the latter looked at the old but vigorous monk and grabbed his chin in a thinking posture.

"Definitely powerful. But not powerful enough to defeat me." Seeing the pure and unquestionable confidence in his voice, Tenzin smiled.

"Then how about we get your Airbending Master tattoo?" Tenzin spoke expectantly with a toothy grin.

"Oh so we're going in that direction once again…" Jiran sighed then he replied back.

"Look, I may be on that level but it's too early for me"

Tenzin really wanted Jiran to embrace the Airnomad culture and become a fully fledged airbending master since he is the only remaining Airbending Master in the world he wanted someone to be with him at the top.

If a second master emerged from the Air Temple then the Culture of Air Nomad would be revived again. The only problem was Jiran was too adamant in not accepting the position.

"And besides, Tenzin. I wouldn't like to get my tattoo before Korra mastered airbending." Jiran spoke with a warm smile catching the family by surprise.

'Who is this guy and where did he hide Jiran!?'

You would never hear Jiran be as kind as this to Korra. He would usually throw some taunts at her and insult her inability to airbend here and there but the way he is conducting himself right now feels really strange and unusual.

Korra on the other hand was taken aback by that statement that she dropped her chopstick.

"Anyways, meals done. I'm gonna go stroll around" Jiran stood up from his seat and then walked out of the room.
