2 Silent Sky

She pulled her arm back, her hand folding into a fist as she brought it back and her fist joined with the boy's face with force as he fell to the ground groaning, his nose bleeding. She looked down with a small smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.

She bent down to his level as he covered his nose trying to stop it from bleeding.

"Next time think clearly who you are trying to fight against. And keep your delusions to yourself" with a slight pat on his cheek she stood up dusting her long black coat hung from her shoulders. She walked past the crowd smiling as they cheered for her.

Her moment was short lived still as her phone started ringing. Sliding one quick finger against her phone she received the call.

"AUDRA!!!!"

This one word was enough to tell her she was in deep deep trouble. Fighting her way out of the crowd she reached the end of the courtyard panting. And at the end of it all stood her very beautiful mother smiling proudly at her…... not. Her mother was pretty though. With her hazel mono lid eyes fair skin as white as a snow with little freckles around the nose. And her slightly red hair that fell around her shoulders in slight curls a brighter contrast to the white coat around her shoulders. Audra had failed to receive these hairs from her mother; her hair was dark black and skin a little paler than her mother's and her eyes greyish. Her mother still looked young. Easy to pass her older sister. Just the problem was except for her diamond face shape as her mother's there wasn't much similarity between them.

"Hi mother" She smiled at her sheepishly trying to read her mother's expression. And as expected she was disappointed.

"And who did you fight this time. "She smiled at Audra but her eyes looked quite murderous.

"Miss Idalia" Audra stood up taller addressing her mother from her real name she placed her hands around her mother's shoulder and assured. "He deserved it he was a jerk. Look he even hurt me"

Slight concern wavered in her mother's eyes as she questioned. "And where did he hit you"

She removed her hand from her mother's shoulder and showed her wrist. Two finger marks surrounded her wrist. "They are probably going to bruise"

"What did you do to receive this? "Idalia's eyebrows quirked up as she examined her daughter's wrist. Audra couldn't help but notice the ring on her mother's finger again. That ring fascinated her. Two stones swirled around each other on a silver band. A purple stone and a green stone. It glimmered like million diamonds in the sun.

"I am offended." She placed a dramatic hand on her heart. "You don't trust your own daughter"

"Audra" And Audra knew her mother wasn't in the mood of jokes.

"I know you have told me to not fight. Violence isn't the answer and all that. I try my best not to but he was the one wrong and he did it first. I accidentally slipped my coffee on the seat beside him. I even apologized. But he started over reacting and said some stuff twisting my hand and I lost it" She explained briefly keeping her emotions at bay, making sure her mother didn't catch on to it.

"What did he say?" Her mother folded her arms against her chest.

"Nothing worth mentioning. Can we go home already if the interrogation session is over. You see your very beautiful daughter here needs a beauty sleep"

Slamming the car door, she laid back against the head rest and closed her eyes, placing ear phones in her ears she turned the volume high. She didn't want to cry now. She couldn't cry now. Not in front of her mother.

The car came to a jerking stop and she got off and directly ran up the stairs not in the mood for conversation. She was on the first step when her mother called and she swiveled around to reply.

"You do know you can talk to me about everything right?" Her mother's smile was reassuring and Audra found herself almost spilling it all out but instead she put on a smile and replied. "I know Miss Idalia. Don't worry I am perfectly fine I just need a little sleep."

"Ok take a good rest and ice your hand so it doesn't bruise"

Nodding at her mother she escaped into her room and plopped onto her bed.

Before her eyes could even close her phone started ringing with notifications. Clicking on one of them she found herself being tagged in hundreds of Instagram posts. Her clip of hitting that guy was going viral. She scrolled through them reading the comments.

"Here she goes trying to be a hero"

Is she really a girl"?

"poor guy"

"Good for him."

"I think she is really cool"

Some sympathized the guy and bashed her, others rooted for her. One thing was for sure though, they would get over it in a few days once they got something new to obsess over.

She found herself revisiting the moment in her head. The guy was lucky she let him live.

"One latte please" she on the bar stool by the counter waiting for her order to be ready. Her eyes remained trained and her fingers busy as she went through the details sent by her college teacher for her project. A force from behind and she was pushed forward her concentration faltering. Sighing she looked behind her at the group of buys laughing. She recognized them from her college.

Noticing her stare, the one in the middle smirked. Glad to receive attention. "Sorry" his words held no meaning. Rolling her eyes, she returned back to her work paying no heed.

"Your latte" She looked up to find the bartender extending the cup towards her. The bartender looked uncomfortable her hands shivered slightly as she held the cup towards Audra. She looked around the coffee shop to see those boys lounging by the bar and laughing at the bartender girl. The girl looked around her age.

"Are they making you uncomfortable?" Audra asked the girl in hushed silence taking the cup from her.

The girl shied away, it was flicker of a movement but she noticed the girl nodding secretly. Audra stood up with her cup and walked towards those boys. She paused for a second in front of them and pretended to accidentally spill her coffee on them. The one from earlier stood up screaming, burnt from the fresh coffee.

"Oh I am so sorry" She looked at him unapologetically and tried to get past him before he caught hold of her wrist.

"Leave my hand" she hissed at him through clench teeth. "Or you will regret it"

"Oh how so?" he mocked." Are you going to call your boyfriend?" He faked a pout as his 'friends' burst into laughter.

"I don't need jerks like you to protect me I can do it myself" She pulled her hand from him as he applied more pressure.

"Oh so you are going to call your father. But you don't have one. Oops" he snickered urging his friends to laugh along with him.

Hurt flickered through her eyes and as much as she refused to accept the words had hurt her.

"You really messed with the wrong person" She twisted his arm that held his hand around and kicked him the shins before landing a smooth punch against his proud face. And for some reason she didn't regret any of the actions she had made. He deserved it. She wasn't sure for his actions towards that girl or for his words towards her but he did.

Her typing hands paused hovering above her laptop seeing a cup appearing beside her, filling the room with its fresh aroma and she passed a pleasant smile to her mother standing there with her own cup.

"Since you didn't get to have coffee in the morning" she commented moving towards her window. Audra felt her heart stop for a second. She took a small sip to buy time for organizing her thoughts.

"You saw it all" Audra concluded not daring to look up at her mother but stared out at the window. The sky was clear and dark, and a chilled breeze stirred the air cooling her room.

"Do you resent your father?" Idalia's voice was calm but she knew they held the power to stir a storm in the silent sky.

"I haven't even ever seen him to resent him for anything" Her smile didn't reach her eyes this time as she looked at her mother.

"He loved you. He never got a choice in any of this. He must have his reasons" Idalia felt her voice breaking. It had been…

"It has been 20 years and yet he didn't get one reason to return to us. You don't even know if he is alive or not do you?"
