Chapter 57: A night to remember

It was a dark night in the capital of the Rodden Kingdom. While the majority of the population was at home with their loved ones or hard at work, the upper elite class was gathering at the royal castle.

The entire castle was lit up with a combination of lanterns and magic balls of light. At the front entrance, nobles from across the kingdom were arriving in carriages that varied from simple designs to extravagant.

In one of the simpler carriages, Baron Zacharia arrived with his wife. Once they stopped at the entrance, they gathered their courage and went inside together.

Zacharia could see nobles from every class, some he recognized, some were newly appointed Barons like himself. It had only been a few years since he had been awarded the 'Baron' title for his contributions to the kingdom in previous wars. As he and his wife made it inside, he looked around and saw some friendly faces.
